Draco Malfoy's Dirty Little Secret

Chapter 5

I didn’t have time to even miss Draco like he lead on because my next block, History of Magic, he was there. Only this time he was late and had to get the last seat that was open, and lucky me, it was right next to me. On the other side was Ron, so it was kind of awkward. The whole time I was nervous, but I didn’t want him to know, so I just didn’t talk to him and just carried on a conversation with Ron, who saw it as a plus that I wasn’t speaking to Malfoy.

“Hello, class,” Professor Binns said as he floated into the classroom. I always found it rather boring that he was a ghost and still teaching the most boring subject ever. “Today we will be starting on the Goblin Rebellion. By the end of class, you will be able to name the leaders and the soldiers that he had behind him…” Blah, blah, blah. You could really learn all the subject matter by just reading the chapter. We really didn’t need a class to re-state it.

“Miss me, Flint?” Draco whispered to me, but I didn’t even look at him. “What am I talking about? Of course, you missed me. No one can go without missing this magnificent person. Am I right?”

“Just do us all a favor, Draco, and choke yourself with your quill. I’m sure hardly anyone would miss you,” I smirked without even looking in his direction.

“Ha, very funny, Flint.”

Ron snorted. “It’s true though.”

“No one asked you, Weasel. So, just stay out of it,” Malfoy spat.

I rolled my eyes. Man, that was becoming a habit this year. Well, with what I was surrounded with, it wasn’t much of a surprise. “There will be no fighting over me. Do you hear me, Malfoy?”

“Who would fight over you?” he laughed. “You’re no prize.”

That comment made me look at him. “Oh, please. You’re just covering the hurt inside because obviously you can’t please anyone enough with your looks,” I didn’t get up to a smirk though as I looked back down at my notes. “Just shut it, Malfoy.”

“Did I strike a nerve there? Well, obviously I did. Well, I must say, I’ve never gotten to you before,” he paused. “Were you hoping that you were some sort of prize? Or were you hoping that I would consider you a prize? Come on then, which is it?”

I didn’t answer him. I didn’t make a move at all. Yes, I had thought that I was a prize, but it didn’t bother me that he said it like that. He was just saying it to get under my skin. I was acting like that because I had had a realization: my birthday wish would never come true. Draco and I will never be on civil terms. He enjoys torturing me too much to step down. So, if he wants to play it like that, then I will. I’ll just torture right back.

I looked him straight in the eye. “Are you feeling a bit not like a prize? Is your shine all gone, Draco? I see that you have no girl on your arm yet. Are you fading away? With all these others getting attention,” I pointed out Hermione, Kamrynn, and Lavender, who were all staring at Ron, “I bet your feeling a little downgraded.” I smiled at the shocked expression on his face. I pretended to feel bad for him and patted his knee. “It’s okay, Draco. You had your time. It’s time to step down graciously and let someone else have some time in the limelight.”

He opened his mouth to say something, but Professor Binns had called his name, so he looked away from me and up at him. Turns out, we were getting assignments for a project. Draco had to go up and pick a subject from the box. Half of us had to pick from the second box, which contained the names of the other half of the class. They would be our partner.

“Great,” Draco said sarcastically as he sat back down.

“What?” I asked as Ron got up.

He handed me his slip of paper, which had Goblin Rebillion written on it. He had gotten the subject we were currently studying, which meant that he knew nothing about it. I just hoped that his partner did, or he was screwed. Wait a second; it would’ve been funnier if he had a partner that didn’t know what they were doing.

“Miss Flint,” Professor Binns called and I walked up to the box, sifted through the papers, and finally picked one. I returned to my seat without looking at the paper.

“Who did you get?” Ron asked, showing me his paper that said ‘Grindlewald’.

I shrugged before opening the paper. I sunk down in my seat and folded it back up. That was one of the worst moments ever. I was just hoping that Draco had gotten a partner that knew about his subject, and guess what? He did.

“Court?” Ron asked, and Draco chuckled.

“She got someone that she didn’t want to be partnered with. It’s obvious,” Draco stated.

“Ron!” squealed Kamrynn as she flounced over. “We’re partners,” she joyfully sang. “I’ll definitely be seeing you later then,” she waved before going back to her seat over by Hermione, who had taken the initiative to sit beside Kamrynn. McGonagall wouldn’t take their request and said that it was a good time to learn to get along, and Hermione is taking it to heart.

“Well, that won’t be so bad,” Ron smiled. “Now, Court. Yours can’t be that bad.”

I gave him a look. “It is, Ron.”

“Let’s see then,” he said, and I passed it to him. “Bloody hell, it is that bad.”

“Come on, Flint. I know it’s me now. Cut the act and let me see the bloody paper,” Draco smirked, taking the paper from my grip without asking properly. “It is me. You’re a right lucky one here. You get all of this,” he winked.

I rolled my eyes, which I was growing tired of. “No,” I smirked this time. “You get all of this, and all of this, knows all about the Goblin Rebellion. So, I suggest that you be nice.”

I knew right then that I had the upper hand in this situation. I wasn’t about to lose it either. Draco then cleared his throat to get my attention because I had turned to talk to Ron once again. I slowly turned to face him.

“What?” I spat.

“I can get any girl that I want,” he stated simply.

I rose an eyebrow up at him. “What are you going on about?”

“Our conversation from the beginning of class, remember? You accused me of being out of my prime. Well, I’m just letting you know that I can get any girl that I want,” he smirked.

I sucked in a breath. Gosh was he sexy when he smirked, but I couldn’t think about that. “Really, Draco? Any girl? I don’t believe that one bit.”

“Of course you wouldn’t. I’ll prove it to you. I’ll get one of the girls that prefer Weasel before he can,” he said, getting Ron’s attention. “I bet that I can get Lavener Brown.”

“Malfoy, I don’t understand, so I’m out. I don’t even care about what you’re going on about. Just leave me out of this,” Ron muttered, turning back to Hermione and Kamrynn.

“Draco,” I said, getting serious. “You’re just choosing Lavender because that would be easiest. So, just stop this nonsense. It doesn’t matter anyway. I was just trying to get on your nerves, and apparently, I have succeeded.”

“Just listen, Flint,” he continued, but I had had enough.

“Draco,” I turned all the way to him. “This is a double block, so could you just write down what you were going to tell me in a note or something because I need to pay attention half of the time,” I went back to my note taking.

He did as I said and left me alone. I was grateful for the room to think and by the end of class, I just about forgot that he was sitting right next to me until I stood to grab my bag off the back of my chair to find his hand in it. He quickly pulled his hand out and got up.

“I better not find anything repulsive in there, Malfoy,” I spat and grabbed my back. It didn’t feel any different.

He smirked. “You won’t find anything repulsive, although I did,” he pulled something out of his pocket: the picture of him and me on the beach that I had placed in there and forgot about. “I didn’t know that you kept this, Flint.”

I nodded. “I did, now can I have it back?” I reached for it, but he moved it out of my reach.

“No,” he said, still looking at it. “I think I’ll keep it. I have as much right to it as you do.”

I threw my hands up. “Fine, keep it then. I don’t care,” I turned and followed my friends out of the classroom, but stopped to look back and see Draco not throwing the picture away like I thought he would, but placing it in his breast pocket.
