Even Without Words

Gabe and Kellin had their time to catch up while the guys and I played soccer. Beau was actually pretty good, but he was also like the incredible hulk. I have no idea where all his strength came from, but he was stronger than any of us. He was cool though, and Kellin seemed to accept him so everyone else was nice to him too. And I was grateful for what he did, getting Eric away and all.

“You should join the soccer team in the spring Beau,” Jaime said once the game was finished. Gabe and Kellin had probably gone inside to talk so we wouldn’t hear… I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t trying to earlier. Once the game was over, the guys and I all just sat outside and talked.

“So how are things with you and Kellin?” Jesse asked me right off the bat. I guess they were all eager to know how things had gone down since Mike, Jaime and Tony had told them what happened with Eric.

“Actually really good,” I replied easily. “I mean, I’ve been trying to be careful with him but Kellin’s a lot more resilient than I think I’ve ever given him credit for. He’s really tough sometimes.”

“What do you mean?” Justin asked, leaning back on his elbows.

“Well,” I started. “It’s like, he freaks out sometimes if I take him by surprise because he’s clearly still very affected by the whole thing but other times he’s just even more confident than I ever thought someone who’s been through stuff like that could be. In some respects I think that this has made him more confident than ever. And it’s kind of nice not to have to be the instigator all the time.”

“So have you two done it?” Jack asked me with a smirk. Mike started howling.

“Yeah,” I sighed happily and laid down in the matted grass.

“God, he couldn’t even sit upright in the car when we were driving here!” Mike was still dying of laughter.

“What can I say?” I shrugged. “I only did what he asked.”

“Way to go buddy!” Jaime said and hit me in the arm. The rest of the guys cheered similar things.

Dinner was pretty normal, minus everyone teasing Kellin for giving it up to me. Gabe was there to help him fend everyone off because he still wasn’t talking at dinner. I knew it had to be tough for him so I managed to get everyone to back off. That’s when the real fun started.

Tony and Jaime had been close all night so we decided to turn the spotlight on them. We’d exhausted Jack and Gabe’s sexual exploits long ago. Tony was leaning on Jaime’s shoulder after he was done eating when we started picking on them.

“So uh, Jaime,” I started and his face changed into a look of sheer terror. “Have you and Tony fucked yet?” The entire table was egging me on and laughing as Tony hid in Jaime’s shoulder, trying to keep us from seeing the deep red blush on his cheeks. It was pretty damn funny.

“No,” He replied quickly. “It’s not like I’m gonna force him into anything.”

“Hey, don’t look at me,” I held up my hands. “Kellin’s the one who jumped my bones, remember?”

Kellin groaned and copied what Tony was doing and hiding in my side. I wrapped an arm around him and squeezed a little, so he’d know I was there for him. The taunting and teasing went back and forth until we all walked back to the dorm. I was at the back, still holding an embarrassed Kellin against my side.

“Come on baby, it’s not so bad,” I whispered to him.

“Yeah it is,” He whined and I wrapped my other arm around him.

“They’re our friends, it’s not like they’re going to take any of this seriously,” I told him. “We’ll all still love you after it’s all said and done. Especially me.”

“This is why I love you Vic,” He said and still refused to move. It was okay though, because he could hide as long as he wanted as long as I was there holding him. All I wanted to do was protect him from everything he didn’t want to deal with, everything he was scared of. “Thank you.”

“What?” I snapped out of my thoughts.

“You were thinking out loud genius,” He looked up at me with his big, clear eyes and a smirk. “I always wonder what’s going on in that head of yours.”

“Don’t get used to it,” I smirked and kissed him on the cheek before opening the door for him.

The rest of the night was really chill. All of us were hanging out and everyone got along better than usual. Kellin and I weren’t even the first to go to bed this time. Nonetheless we still cuddled up together on my bed. I personally think he just likes how my blankets smell because I like his better too.

“Good night Vic,” Kellin yawned before cuddling back into my chest.

“Night love,” I mumbled and kissed his head before falling asleep myself.
