Keep Digging Holes in The Desert

The next day I got a call from Tony which is weird.
He never calls me for anything.
I answered.

"Hello?"
"Valerie! Where are you?"
"At Jamie's."
"Can you come pick me up?"
"Well I need to know where you are in order to do that."
"I'm not exactly sure. I'm with some pornstar at her house."

I sighed.

"Go outside and look at the street son or look for her bills. Any type of mail she has."

I heard fumbling around like he was moving.
Once he told me the street I hung up and walked into the living room.

"Hey Jaime."
"Hey."
"So uhm Tony just called me saying he needs to be picked up from a pornstar's house."

He sighed and rubbed his face.

"His ex girlfriend's house...he always ends up there when he's drunk. Come on."

He grabbed his keys and we got into his car and drove off.
I never knew Tony even had a girlfriend to begin with let alone her being a fucking pornstar...

Once we arrived at her house Jamie told me to stay in the car saying it could get ugly.
That could mean a lot with Tony so I just stayed put.

I was expecting to be sitting for awhile but it turned out to be ten minutes.
I sat up and watched Jamie help Tony into the back seat.
He didnt say anything but laid down and fell asleep.
Jamie got in the driver's seat and started the car and drove off.

"So how'd it go?"
"He's not going back. We have to help him get through this break up he fell so hard for her that it's going to be the hardest thing he does."

I just nodded.
I knew how it felt to try and get over someone you love.
It's impossible.
But when they don't love you like you love them it makes it harder to be around them.
Of course Tony isn't in my situation he's just heart broken.

Once we got back I helped Jamie set Tony on the couch.
He snored so loud but I didn't care.
He'd be waking up with a major hangover any way.
I walked up to my room when Jamie called my name.
I walked back down into the kitchen.

"Vic called. Said it was important."
"Alright guess I'll go over there."
"Be careful."
"I will."

I knocked on his door and waited.
Once he opened the door I was embraced with a tight hug.
I thought he just missed me but then I heard him sniffle.
I pulled away and looked at him.

"Vic, whats happened?"
