They Say

Something new.

Once the show ended Emerson found herself at yet another house party. At least this time it was at Matty's which she was familiar with, but none the less it didn't make it anymore appealing.

Emerson sighed as she nursed her 2nd drink and sat down on the couch which was occupied by some guy she didn't know. The kid seemed rather harmless so she didn't see the harm in it. She pressed her lips to the red plastic cup as her eyes roamed over the now crowded room. She had lost sight of Oliver several minutes ago and by the looks of it he probably went to get another drink. She had lost count of how many drinks that made for him a long time ago.

"Yeh are Emason, huh?" She heard and looked over to the dark headed boy with the bright blue eyes.

"Oh, yeah. Have we met?"

A crooked grin hit his lips and she seemed to study him as she wondered if she had. He seemed a bit familiar and yet she couldn't put her finger on why.

"No, not properly anyways. I'm Tom, Oliver's brotha."

"OH! I can definitely see that now!"

Tom chuckled as he relaxed in his seat, "Yeah, he's mentioned you a good bit. Wasn't hard to put you with his description. You are rather pretty like he said."

A blush immediately crept onto the girl's face, "Not necessarily."

"You're just being modest, which is a nice quality to have. You know, I don't know if you caught onto it yet, but Oli doesn't possess that." Tom joked with a smirk causing Emerson to laugh softly, "He isn't that bad."

"No not at all. He's me brotha, but come on, him modest? Who are we kidding?"

Before Emerson could respond though, Oli fell into the seat beside her, his arm immediately wrapping around her shoulders,
"What are you tellin' this bird, Tom? Betta not be something bad about me."

"Something bad about you? Neva." Tom responded with a sly grin and Emerson chuckled.

Oli rolled his eyes although an amused look covered his gentle face. Tom chuckled and stood up slowly, "Getting anotha drink. Looks like you need one." He said gently grabbing the cup from the girl's hand.

"Oh thanks."

The boy simply nodded before heading in the direction of the kitchen. Oli chuckled and removed his arm from her leaning back against the couch as he held on tightly to his beer, his buzz now setting in. He couldn't help but glance at the girl who now fiddled with her nails nervously. Oli breathed in before speaking, causing her eyes to meet his.

"Ready to go?" He asked remembering how this wasn't really her scene and he felt bad for dragging her here now.

"What? Are you?" She asked with a raised eyebrow and he shrugged, "I don't mind parties, you do remember?"

"I never said I hated them."

"But, you never said you like them either. In fact, I believe the last time I met you at a party you were sitting alone as well."

"Maybe I like it."

"I don't know, you didn't seem to mind my company." He stated boldly and all she could manage to do was shrug. Oliver chuckled before raising the beer bottle to his lips. He loved how easily it was to make her nervous. It seemed so innocent that he liked doing it.

"Come on." He said sitting his empty bottle on the table before quickly moving from the couch. She looked at him like he was crazy and a smile hit his lips as he held out his hand, "Scared?"

"A little if you are driving."

Oliver laughed as she placed her hand in his, "I've driven worse than this before, darlin'. I'm fine. I swear. I would allow you to drive us but you might try to drive on the wrong side of the road."

Emerson rolled her eyes and he pulled his keys out of his pocket with his free hand. His eyes did a scan of the room trying to find Matty to tell him they were headed out. He of course found him basically making out with Heather and decided against it.

"Let's get outta here." He said tugAging her outside. Once the door was shut the night seemed to dull all the loud sounds from the house out.

"Where are we going?" She asked as he led her to his car, "I don't know. I live a street ova."

She nodded nervously as she got into the black vehicle. It wasn't that she was worried about being alone with him, she honestly just didn't know what he was wanting to happen and she really hoped he wasn't getting the wrong idea from her.

The ride to Oliver's house was silent and he couldn't help but glance over at her from time to time. He knew very well she wasn't like normal women. A normal one would be chatting his head off right now, but Emerson wasn't and it was driving him mad. He just wanted more than anything to figure her out. Understand the way she thought.

Once they parked in his driveway she followed him quickly inside and he flipped on a light as she shut the door.

"Do I make you nervous?" He asked as he fell onto his couch and she responded with a questionable look.

"I mean, I don't know, you're propa quiet."

"So, me being quiet means I'm nervous?" She asked as she softly set down near him.

"Well, no. I'm just throwing out ideas."

"And do you have anymore?" She asked tucking a strand of her dark hair behind her ear.

Oliver couldn't help but laugh, "I mean, I have several."

"And what are they?"

Oliver shrugged a grin still plastered on his lips, "You amuse me."

Emerson rolled her eyes and leaned against the couch, "I don't know how."

"You're just different."

"I don't know how to take that..."

"Take it as a compliment."

Emerson nodded as she watched him lean his head back with a sigh. His eyes seeming to stay on hers and she bit her bottom lip as she tried to think of what to say.

"Tom was like, 'Oh yeah I figured it was you. Oli said you were really pretty.' " Emerson stated and Oli grinned at the girl's attempt to embarrass him.

"Well you are." He replied calmly as he placed his hands behind his head.

She shook her head to disagree causing her hair to fall into her face as she looked at her lap.

"You are."

"Ok, I get it."

"Like, how do you not see it? Girls like you are usually not like this."

"What does that mean?"

"Meaning I've never met a beautiful girl who acted like you."

Emerson sighed, "Sorry I'm not a slut?"

Oli rolled his eyes, "Why must they be sluts?"

"Because, girls that you are referring to usually are and no offense but you clearly seem to think you aren't too bad looking which means you date girls like that."

"Oh give me some credit."

"I'm just saying. You more than likely use your looks to get what you want. Is it your fault you're attractive? No. But you use it to your benefit."

Oli leaned up at that and his eyes studied her, "You think I'm attractive?"

Emerson rolled her eyes, "You're missing the whole point here."

"You find me attractive. That's a point I want to be certain of."

"Who doesn't find you attractive, Oli?" She asked boringly and the boy shrugged, "I don't care eitha way."

"Of course not. Which makes you that much more irresistable to girls huh?"

Oli groaned, "Oh come on. How did you turn on me so fast?"

"I didn't. I'm just stating the truth."

"Well if it makes it any better I don't want to win you over with my looks, Em." He said seriously as he leaned closer to her.

"Are you trying to win me over?" She managed to ask and he grinned, "Maybe. I haven't decided yet."

"Who said it was your choice?" She boldly asked and Oli chuckled, "I guess it isn't, but your winning me ova so it's only fair don't you think?"

"How am I winning you over?!"

"You just are. I don't know. You're propa lovely." He said seriously as his eyebrows narrowed together. He didn't know where this was coming from, but he couldn't seem to stop it from coming out.

"Thank you." She whispered as her cheeks burned red. Oli grinned, "Like that. That was lovely."

Emerson buried her face into her hands and he chuckled as he reached for them and gently pulled them away.

"I just want to get to know you better. That's all I'm trying to do, Em. There isn't a hidden motive or anything else." He said sincerely and she nodded in response. She couldn't help but believe him. It was hard not to when he had such caring eyes.

"But why?"

"Why not?"

Emerson shugged at his reply and he gently kissed the top of her hand.

"You intrique me. I'm not sure why, but you do."

"I don't know why either..." She responded softly and he smiled, "I don't care either. You do and I want to keep you around."

"I'm not planning on going anywhere anytime soon..."

"Good." He whispered leaning in and kissing her forehead. The quiet moment was eventually interrupted by Oli's phone ringing and he groaned before pulling it from his pocket.

"Hello?" He answered leaning back in his seat his free hand still wrapped firmly around one of hers.

"Oh yeah. She's with me." He spoke giving her a wink as she relaxed against the couch with a sigh.

"Tell that bird to chill the fuck out. She's fine. What the fuck does she think I'd do to her?"

Emerson watched him roll his eyes before he spoke once more, "Whateva. I'll bring her home lata. Last time I checked she wasn't a kid...you aren't are you?" He teased, directing the last remark to the girl.

Emerson rolled her eyes and he chuckled, "Ok mate. Lata."

Oli hung up the phone and she waited patiently for him to talk.

"Heatha thinks I'm going to like rape you basically."

Emerson laughed, "Yeah she already warned me about you several times."

"I can promise you that isn't going to happen."

"I know."

He grinned and looked down at their hands as he traced the back of hers with his thumb.

"Can't rape the willing." He joked and she couldn't help but laugh.

"I'm joking."

"Yet again, I know."

"I just don't want you to get offended. I tend to make not appropriate comments."

Emerson laughed once more, "And I'm ok with that."

"Of course you are because you aren't normal."

"Right."

Oli chuckled before covering his mouth to yawn, "Just know I've neva been home after a show before midnight."

"You've never hung out with me before this."

Oli laughed, "Very true."

"I mean if it's killing your image we can go back."

The dark headed boy rolled his eyes, "Fuck my image. I'd ratha be with you."

A blush hit her cheeks immediately and he relaxed in his seat, "Plus, you are more interesting than those blokes. Easier on the eyes as well."

Emerson gave him a look and he chuckled, "Ok, ok. I'm done flattering you. Those looks aren't nice. Let's watch a movie, yeah?"

Emerson quickly nodded and he moved from his seat to the shelf filled with DVD's.

"So, what do you like? Scary? Funny? Action? Romance? Sorry, I don't really own any of the last one..."

"Oh really? Well, anything but the last one."

Oli snickered as he pulled a case from the selection, "Great. Jurassic Park it is."

Emerson rolled her eyes and he placed it in the dvd player before joining her on the couch.

"Against this as well?" He teased and she shrugged as she crossed her arms from the closeness of the two.

"This probably was too old for your time."

"I'm going to hit you..."

Oliver laughed, "Really? Please do. I'd love to see that!"

She glared at him from her seat and he smiled in amusement, "Wow, that almost meant business. Almost."

"You're mean."

"I remember that being stated way earlier in this relationship."

"Shush I'm trying to watch this." She grumbled moving her eyes to the screen although she found it hard to concentrate on anything but the rather cute boy beside her.

"So..." Oliver finally said thirty minutes into the movie, he just couldn't keep quiet with her here. Too much was on his mind.

Emerson immediately groaned and glanced over at him and a smile hit his lips, "When are you going to go on a date with me?"

"I wasn't planning on it."

"Of course not, but you're thinking about it now and you're probably like, mhm. Why wouldn't I want to?" He said and she chuckled, "You are ridiculous, does this stuff actually work on girls?"

"Well, I get laid frequently, so yes, I assume it does."

"The girls here are a bit pathetic."

Oli shrugged, "Or maybe I'm just really good."

"doubtful."

"Mhm. Surprised my accent hasn't won you over yet. Works all the time in the states."

"Yeah? It's gotten kind of annoying because you talk so much."

Oliver let out a laugh, "Oh you got jokes?!"

Emerson couldn't help but giggle making Oliver grin from beside her as he watched her. He was going to be in trouble if she stayed around that was for sure.

It's been a month and for that I am sorry. :(

For some reason I've had zero motivation for all my stories. Which sucks. So, I took some time in hopes that being away for a while would make me miss it. Unfortunately that isn't so. I literally have six active stories. I don't know how that happened and all though I've never not finished a story, I can't decide if I just want to put a few on hiatus or completely delete them. I hate to do it but I've lost interest in a few and I don't want to keep putting out crappy chapters just to keep it a float. Sigh. I don't know...I guess we will see. Just so we are clear though, this story is in no threat. I just had to vent.

Thanks to everyone who has commented and subscribed to this story though. :)
