Lessons Learned I

Lee, Alex and I were hanging out at the park the next day. We were by 'our tree'.

Alex climbed up on a low branch and sighed. "What do you ladies wanna do?"

Lee leaned against the tree and sighed. "I dunno."

I shrugged.

Alex pulled a flower off of the tree and put it in my hair. I looked up at him and smiled really wide. He smiled back at me. I aimlessly stared up at him.

Lee was staring at some guy. "Damn, you're fine..."

I sighed and looked down at the ground.

Oh, my God! Grass!

Alex coughed. "Damn, I think I swallowed a bug."

I laughed. "You okay?"

"Yeah."

I smiled.

Nearly five minutes later, out of nowhere, poor Alex fell out of the tree.

My eyes widened. "Are you okay?!"

Lee helped him up.

"Yeah, I'm okay. A bee flew in front of my face," Alex said.

I laughed a little. "I hate those things."

"Me too. They scare the living shit out of me."

"Me, too," I said.

Alex laughed nervously. I looked over at Lee, who was watching us.

"...um...so...what should we do?" I asked.

"We could head downtown," Alex suggested.

"To the Bean Scene," I added. "I'd almost kill for an iced coffee."

Alex laughed and we began walking out of the park.

Out of nowhere, Alex threw his arm out in front of me while exclaiming, "Stop!"

I jumped back a little and realized I was about to step on a wasp nest that was laying on the ground. My eyes widened.

"Holy shit," I mumbled.

Alex bravely kicked it into the lake, and as it turned out, it was vacant.

I raised an eyebrow, then rolled my eyes at my stupidity. "Of course it's vacant. It's cold."

He turned red. "...sorry, wasn't thinking."

I smiled. "No problem. I'm used to it," I joked.

He blushed a deeper shade of red. I could feel Lee staring at us both.

I looked at him and randomly felt an urge to kiss his cheek, which I did. I thought he was adorable when he turned red and blushed.

Apparently not expecting it, poor Alex ran right into a tree.

Lee's eyes widened. "Alex, are you okay?!"

He stood up quickly, shaking a little. "Yeah! Peachy," he said, obviously embarrassed.

I smirked a little and blushed.

Alex kept walking while avoiding eye contact with me. Lee gave me a look.

I looked at her and raised my eyebrow. I then looked at Alex.

"Um...are you okay?" I asked.

"Yeah, I'm fine," he replied quickly. He continued walking.

I leaned over by Lee and whispered, "What's up with him?"

She gave me a look suggesting the problem was obvious.

I gave her a confused look, not understanding what she meant.

Alex stopped and watched the cars go by.

Lee leaned in and whispered in my ear, "He likes you."

My eyes widened. "He does not!" I exclaimed a tad louder than I should have. I immediately turned red.

Alex briefly looked at me as Lee's eyes widened a little.

I cleared my throat. "What would make you think Mr. Rogers did dope?! That's just cruel!" I said, covering for myself.

Alex gave me an odd look.

Lee, on the other hand, went along. "Yeah, but I totally heard from Victoria that he molested Elmo and was shooting up out back with Barney!"

My eyes widened as we crossed the street. "No way!"

"Yes way!"

Alex gave us a weird look again. "What's going on?" he questioned.

"Apparently, Mr. Rogers did dope at one time. Shocker, huh? Hehe..." I said while nervously laughing.

"Ohh..." he said, smiling at me.

I nervously smiled back and continued walking.
