We Were Drunk But It's Not A Mistake

Chapter 11
“Is everything set up?” I asked setting my beer cake down next to the stripper cake.
“Yeah are you okay?” Tammy answered.
“I guess Tyler and I got into an argument after the game.” I admitted.
“Oh honey, are you okay?” she asked me wrapping me in a hug.
“I think so just a little shaken.” I answered.
“I know the first couple are the scariest but believe me you’ll get used to them and know how to deal with them better.” She explained.
“I just hope Brad can convince him to come.” I admitted.
“He will Brad will mention alcohol and believe me Tyler will show up.” Brittany replied.
“How is that supposed to make me feel better?” I asked her.
“This is the first time he’s gone out and he’s 21and every 21 year old goes out on their birthday.” She answered.
“Plus you look amazing in your dress and Tyler won’t be able to keep his hands off you.” Tammy told me.
“I feel like he was upset I left him but he was asleep so I doubt he knows I left.” I replied.
After an hour of setting up everyone invited had arrived except Tyler. I knew he was giving Brad a hard time but I couldn’t blame him. I walked around mingled with some of his friends and a couple of mine.
“Alright guys Tyler is right down the street!” Dougie shouted.
We all clustered together and the lights went out.
Tyler’s POV
“Dude I got in a fight with Cali and I’m feeling guilty about it. Me getting drunk isn’t going to help.” I complained.
“Cali would understand even she said every person who turns 21 goes out and drinks.” Brad replied.
“I know but Cali wasn’t there when you got me up. No note, no text I’m getting freaked out Brad she doesn’t do this.” I told him.
“She’s fine now can we go get a couple of shots and relax.” He told me.
“This place is dead.” I replied as we walked up to a blacked out building.
“Are you sure?” he asked flipping on the lights.
“SURPRISE!” A whole room full of people exclaimed.
I saw Cali in the middle smiling and I felt better knowing she was safe and guilty.
“Happy Birthday man!” Horton shouted giving me a bro hug.
“Thanks dude.” I replied.
“Happy Birthday Tyler.” Tammy said giving me a hug.
“Thanks Tammy.” I replied.
“Who planned all this?” I asked them.
“Cali did she’s over there.” Tammy answered pointing to Cali.
“Thanks.” I replied.
“Hey.” I said walking up to her.
“Hey.” She replied smiling.
“I’m sorry.” I told her.
“It’s alright I understand.” She responded.
“No it’s not. I have no right to take my anger out on you.” I told her.
“It’s alright it’s your birthday.” She replied.
“Thanks for all of this.” I told her.
“You’re my husband I have to do these things for you.” She joked.
“Does this mean I have to do the same for you?” I asked her.
“Yup and I turn 21 in July.” She answered.
“I look forward to it.” I told her wrapping my arms around her waist.
“I’m glad cause you have to beat this.” She joked wrapping her arms around my neck.
“I think I can.” I smirked.
“I want to show you something before you get shitfaced.” She told me grabbing my handing and leading me somewhere.
“No that is a good idea for beer.” I laughed seeing what she had done.
“Here.” She said handing me one of the beers.
“Thanks.” I replied.
“First legal drink over here!” Cali shouted and everyone looked at me.
I opened the can and took a sip and everyone started cheering.
“ID?” She asked.
I laughed and took out my wallet and handed her my ID.
“You’re lucky Happy Birthday.” She laughed.
“Thanks.” I replied taking my ID back.
“Thanks so much for this.” I told her.
“You deserve it.” she replied.
“Love you.” I gave her a kiss.
“Love you too.” She replied and leaving to find someone.
“So you are Cali’s new boyfriend.” I heard a voice say.
“Yeah I’m Tyler you?” I asked.
“I’m Gavin.” He answered.
“Nice to meet you.” I replied.
“I’m friends with Maggie a friend of Cali’s.” he explained.
“Well a friend of Cali is a friend of mine.” I replied.
“Tyler we’re taking shots!” I heard McQuaid call me.
I walked away from Gavin and back to the guys.
“Here.” He said handing me one.
“To being 21!” I shouted.
