Of Jack and Danny.

Let's Play a Game of (Drinking) Roulette.

Weeks passed before I dared suggesting going to another party to Danny and the others.
They all turned to look at me with expressions that practically screamed 'are-you-fucking-serious?'
"What?" I asked them, holding up my hands in surrender as they each glared me down.
"You're fucking kidding." James muttered as he began shaking his head at me. "What happened to 'never let me near another drink ever again'?"
As I opened my mouth to reply, Cam cut across me before I had a chance to form a sentence in my head. "'Nothing is worth this much pain, my head, owowow..'"
"I'm Ben and I'm such a pussy I can't hold down my alcohol." Danny chimed in, his tone mocking and his face lit up with a teasing smile.
"Assholes." I scowled at them, folding my arms tightly over my chest and sticking my chin defiantly into the air.
"You're the one who told us never to let you near another bottle." Sam pointed out rather sensibly.
I sighed heavily, running my fingers through my hair and shrugging my shoulders. "It was only an idea.." I mumbled.
"Sure, I'll go drinking-" Cameron offered with a small chuckle. I brightened up slightly before he added, "Just with people who can actually hold their liquor."
I gave him a shove, sticking out my tongue at him. "Wanker."
"We're the ones who have to live with you moaning your ass off for the whole day." James chipped in. "That pretty much makes us Saints."

My main reason for wanting to go out and get a little drunk in the head was Danny, as per usual. He was unintentionally driving me crazy and that was beginning to get to me.
I swear to God, I felt like I was about to die horny. Talk about being sexually frustrated and all.
I just needed something to get my mind off things - and by that I meant someone to do to get my mind off Danny.
Yeah, it was stupid. It was just the only thing I could think of doing. I guessed it had to be one of those stupid schoolboy crushes, one that was just as stubborn as sin.
I just always seemed to find myself accidentally staring at him every so often, or thinking about him in those little spaces between thoughts.
Wow.. I needed to get a grip.

"How about the five of us?" Sam finally suggested, attempting to be  the rational one and come to a compromise.
"That's one pathetic party." Cameron muttered under his breath.
"Not being funny, but I don't fancy going out and having to pick Ben up off the floor again." Danny admitted, giving me a wink as I began to protest and apologise. "Staying here is a good plan."
"It'll be like old times!" I say excitedly, earning a few scoffs from the other four.
"Oh, come on!" I sigh, rolling my eyes. "Don't tell me we didn't have fun back then.."
"Fine." Cam finally agreed. "Maybe James can invite that brunette he's been texting ever since the last party." Cam grinned at him, waggling his eyebrows suggestively.
"Not bloody likely." James replied instantly, shaking his head at Cameron. "Not while the wolves are around."
I couldn't help but laugh myself, silently agreeing with James. Cameron was a great friend, but he did have a habit of picking up other people's chicks.

Despite us not going out to a party, I was still in better spirits than I had been. Sure, there weren't any girls around to get hot and heavy with - but there was alcohol.
Alcohol was just as close on my 'ways to avoid over-thinking about your best friend' list as girls were. So far, it was working a treat.

The five of us sat in a circle on the floor, each of us giggling our heads off.
Yes, we were behaving like a bunch of pre-teens at an all-American slumber party.
Danny had decided it would be fun to whip out all the old drinking games we used to play back in high-school.
Sure we'd all made fun of the idea for a few minutes, but soon enough we'd gotten more involved in them than we ever had in any team sports.
"Go on, Benny!" Danny grinned, handing me the empty bottle of Jack.
I took it in my hands, giggling like an idiot as I spun it on the floor, each of us waiting for it to stop and show us my fate.
When it finally slowed and pointed at a shot glass we all cheered.
"Drink up!" James chuckled, patting me on the back as I took hold of the glass.
I raised it to my lips, tipping it back and grimacing as the shock of the alcohol burned at the back of my throat.

Before long the shot glasses lay discarded and empty, each one abandoned and sprawled out across the carpet.
"So what's next?" I hiccuped, half-giggling as I fluffed up Danny's hair.
"Spin the bottle?" He suggested with a broad grin tugging at his perfect lips.
"What are we, twelve?" James asked, his fingers tapping along the neck of one of the numerous empty bottles.
"Just cause you know you'd get a boner if you had to kiss me." Cameron teased, elbowing him in the ribs, throwing his head back as he laughed.
"Oh, shut up!" James grumbled, shoving him back and placing the bottle in the middle of the circle and spinning it. "If you're gonna be an ass about it."
I muffled another fit of giggles as the bottle slowed and pointed at Cam. His mouth fell open, for once unable to find the words he was looking for.
"What are the odds, eh?" Sam asked, raising his eyebrows.
"I've never wanted to get that close to your face.." James muttered, wrinkling his nose as he grabbed the back of Cam's head and pulled it towards him, his lips crushing against the other male's briefly.
"Such a tender lover, aren't you?" Cameron's voice was laden with heavy sarcasm.
"Because you would know." Danny commented snidely, a smirk playing about on his lips.
The two instantly turned to glare at him, not appreciating the insinuation one little bit.

The game went on for a few more minutes before the bottle landed on Danny.
He looked at James and pursed his lips playfully, fluttering his long black lashes.
"Give us a kiss then, let's see what all these girls go crazy about." He teased, waggling his eyebrows.
James huffed and complained for a good length of time before finally pecking my best friend's lips.
I felt my eyes narrow as I watched him, unable to help the feeling of jealously which had suddenly spread through me. My chest felt a little tight as I watched the both of them, tensing as their lips touched.
Lucky bastard. I couldn't help but think, suddenly filled with an envy of James that I'd never experienced before.
"I'll give you an A* for effort!" Danny said patronisingly, patting James on the head. "I just didn't believe you really loved me."
He slung his arm around my shoulders as he sat back to take his own turn.
It seemed like ages before the bottle even began to slow to a stop, when it finally came to a stand-still I let out a breath I hadn't realised I'd been holding.
It had landed on me.
"Pucker up, Benny boy!" He laughed easily, obviously thinking nothing of it.
However, I was. My palms began to sweat slightly as I sunk my teeth into my lower lip, biting nervously at my spiderbites.
"Aw, don't look so scared." Danny giggled, brushing my fringe out my eyes. "I don't bite."
Before I had time to comprehend what was happening, Danny leaned in to me, his arm still draped over my shoulders.
Then suddenly his lips were against mine. Warm, tangible and tasting of Jack Daniels.
My heart practically lept into my throat.
He pulled away from me all too quickly, leaning back and nudging to bottle towards me with his bare foot.
"Your turn, Benny."
I nodded numbly, my teeth sibling into my lower lip again, the taste of Danny still on my lips and tongue.
