Stuck Between Two Walls

Chapter 4

~CHAPTER 4~

~*~
I felt like a princess in her room in a castle, waiting for her prince to arrive. Like, literally arrive. Where's Damian? You might all(whoever you guys are) be wondering why the heck I'm waiting for my hero prince, right?

Okay, you might not believe me but I'm in the guestroom of their house. Like, I'm here. Am I a guest? Yes. I'm pretty much a guest and would continue to be like that for a whole freaking month.

Well, abnormal heartbeat, we meet again.
~*~

I clicked publish and slumped into my bed. Okay, their bed.

After Mrs. Kurtz, she insists that I call her Dianne, toured around me around the house, I went to the guest room. I stared at the ceiling for about half an hour, trying to absorb the thoughts.

Damian.

I will be living with him for a whole freaking month! I can't freaking think straight! What the heck is wrong with my parents? I'm going to die.

Yes. I'm gonna die.

I'm going to see him every single day. I have to be happy about it but instead of jumping with joy, I'm feeling jumpy inside. Like I'm about to burst. I'm going to live with him.

Well, Leslie. Just think of it as a practice when you guys get married.

Hey! Look at me! Being so freaking ambitious.

Okaaaay. I'm going crazy right now.

We're going to be eating dinner ton- Heck! What should I wear? I look like a drowned mutant zombie with my boring outfit. Tattered jeans (what? It looked kinda cool) and a tie-dye shirt. My hair was in its frizzy form again. No make-up, all natural look and that pretty much means boring. My body looked bulgy with the choices of clothes I have.

"Leslie, darling. Come downstairs." Dianne called at my door.

Well, screw it.

---

I've reached the dining room and I found Dianne setting up the table, so she won't be looking up. Awesome. I'm going to give her a heart attack. I can't find Damian anywhere. Good. He won't die tonight.

Then I heard a couple of footsteps behind me and I quickly looked down to avoid him.

"Leslie?" I heard him whisper and I shut my eyes. No no no. I'm invisible. Don't ask me questions. Don't look at me.

Please ignore me like what everyone does.

"Leslie, you're here." He said and maybe I'm just imagining it or I heard relief in his voice.

"He was worried you might not be eating with us." Dianne told me when I looked up to meet her. "Oh and wow."

Wow?

Damian walked toward his usual seat which would be right beside me. Oh crap. "You're not going to stand there all night, are you?" he asked me when he took a seat. Then his eyes scanned my face and they widened in surprise. "Whoa."

"Leslie, you should really do that to your hair. You look even prettier." Dianne told me, smiling appreciatively.

Blushing fiercely, I whispered "Thanks."

You see, I just brushed my wild hair and it suddenly became wavy. It bounces in all wanted directions. The brown and red strands suddenly appear. No more attacking Medusa hair.

Walking slowly toward my seat like my whole life depended on it, I brushed my hair back and smiled at Dianne. Then I sat next to Damian and my heart fluttered automatically. My system was suddenly electrocuted because sparks swam into my veins.

And this, ladies and gentlemen, is how I die. It was an honor talking to you all.

"So, Leslie. How's school?" Dianne asked me, scooping a big pile of pasta and putting in into my plate.

Damian's smile turned into a frown. "College papers." He muttered, shaking his head.

I can feel the blood rising to my face. "Well, um. It's going okay."

"That's good to hear." Dianne smiled and nodded in approval.

She talked about how her day went and I just smiled and nodded. She asked me about mine and I told her almost everything, leaving the annoying topic of lunch period. She just laughed and said that life is meant to be boring if you let it be that way. Dianne really is the perfect mom.

She suddenly added, "Do you have your eyes on a boy in your class?"

Yeah. Just like a mom.

My eyes widened in surprise and I almost choke into my spaghetti. Dianne burst into a hysterical giggle while Damian's face is a complete poker face.

"Um, no." I answered. All the boys in my school are dweebs. The guy that I'm only interested in is the guy sitting next to me. Only him.

Dianne pouted. "Oh, come on. I want to hear a cute love story these days. Damian won't talk about anyone."

What about Mellissa, I wanted to ask but thought better of it. My heart is not yet ready to be torn apart. And besides, this spaghetti is too delicious. Losing my appetite seems widely disrespectful and it doesn't deserve it.

Damian shrugged, shoving a forkful of pasta into his mouth. His kaleidoscope eyes widened innocently.

I shook my head, smiling apologetically.

"Not one boy?"

Your son. "Not one."

"Does anyone show any interest on you?"

I don't know how or why but Ethan suddenly popped into my head. His pale face with his ridiculous fashion sense suddenly danced into my thoughts. His wild earrings, his black clothes, his black nail polish. His dark appearance but his almost playful attitude.

No. He didn't show any interest, did he? He just want to tease me. Nothing more. He's just a stupid guy who doesn't have any better things to do. He's a dweeb.

"You're hesitating." Dianne said, almost giggling. "There is someone."

"Oh. N-no." I stuttered. Why the heck did I just do that?

"Say whatever you want. I can see it in your eyes. You're thinking about him now. Oh! This is too cute and adorable!" she exclaimed, putting her hand on her heart and looking absolutely touched about it. Then she turned her attention to Damian. "Damian! Why can't you be like that?"

Once again, Damian just shrugged with not even a trace of emotion on his face. Why won't he just say her name? Mellissa. How hard could it be?

"Well, how's the pasta?" she asked me, her eyes kinda worried.

Chewing, I nodded my head in adoration.

"You're so sweet, Leslie. And really cute. The guy you're interested in is one lucky fellow."

I gave her a tiny smile. Unseen, I glanced at Damian and he is staring at his plate with not even much of an appetite.
