The rest of the day goes agonizingly slow, and I just wanted to go home to get ready for my dinner with Austin. At quarter to four, Craig comes out of his office.

“Kaylee, it’s a slow day. Why don’t you go on home early and have a good weekend?” Craig offers.

“Are you sure? I don’t mind!” I respond, already packing.

“No, go ahead! I can take care of phone calls for the next hour.” He says and we say goodbyes.

Usually texts like these freak me out, but something about Austin makes me feel so secure and comfortable. I step off the bus in front of my apartment, and unlock the door to the lobby. It’s quiet and no one is there to bother me. I walk up the stairs, grasping onto the banister. Each step is more difficult than the last. I almost collapse when I reach my door. I grab a banana, and force myself to eat it. Once I reach my room, I pull out my already prepared outfit for tonight.

I rip off my work clothes and quickly step on the scale. I smile at my progress, and pull on my jeans, rubbing painfully at my slowly healing wounds. I finish my outfit, take my hair out of the daily bun, and straighten the kinks out. Once I’m somewhat satisfied with my appearance, I grab my purse, phone, keys, and I’m out the door.

“Hey!” Austin calls out halfway down the block, and hugs me when I finally reach him.

“Hey, punk.” I giggled into his chest.

“Shall we?” He asks, and holds his hand out.

“We shall.” I jested, taking his hand in mine, and walking into the restaurant.

“Reservation for Carlile?” Austin states for the host.

The young man’s mouth drops, and repeats, “Carlile, Austin Carlile, Of Mice And Men?!”

Austin smiles, “Yeah, what’s up, man?”

The kid just shakes his head in disbelief, and replies, “Just this way, Mr. Carlile.” Poor thing, he’s shaking so hard, he drops the menus twice before handing them to us. Austin smiles and tells him not to apologize, and he apologizes for apologizing.

Once we’re alone, I start, “Looks like someone has a little fan.”

“Yeah, he was sweet. I think I’ll sign my used napkin for him.” Austin jokes and winks at me.

God, he’s cute. And sweet. And funny. And charming. And everything I want.

“So what’s good here?” He continues.

“Literally everything. Anything that sounds good, is great. I usually get their veggie burger. It’s to die for.”

“I guess I’ll get what you get, then.” Austin smiles again.

Dinner flies by way too fast, and before I know it, we’re at a bar, ordering drinks after drinks, and laughing at everything.

“So, I’m at fucking Warped Tour, and I run into Jack Barakat from All Time Low, and he’s like, dude, you fucking rocked. And I was like, dude, you fucking rolled!” Austin slurs.

“Oh my god! That’s hilarious!” I laugh. I check my phone, and it’s already two in the morning. “Hey, Austin, I gotta head back to my place, you know, the place, that place, the thing were I live.” I stumble over my tongue.

Austin pokes out his bottom lip, and stands up, almost tripping, “Alright, I’ll walk you home.” He pays the bill, against my many protests, and we’re on the sidewalk, hand in hand, giggling about nothing and everything.

After a couple blocks, we reach my building. “Here it is, right here!” I yell out, laughing my drunken ass off.

Austin walks up the few steps before the door, and babbles, “I had a great time tonight. I swear I don’t get drunk every night. I’m not an alcoholic. You’re just so much fun to hang out with, and I really like you. Not just how you look, but who you are. I really really really like you and I had so much fun tonight, and I really don’t want tonight to end but it probably should because it’s almost three and-”

I cut him off with my lips against his. He reacts by swiping his tongue on my bottom lip, and I let him explore my mouth. “The night doesn’t have to end yet.” I inform him once we come up for air, daring him to come upstairs with me.

He silently agrees, and I unlock the doors, and we run up the stairs. Once we get up to the door, Austin takes my key away from me, and unlocks the door himself. I sprint inside, and tell him to sit on the couch for one minute.

“Shit,” I mutter under my breath, almost falling onto the floor in my room. I quickly change my boring white bra into a lacey red one, brush my teeth, and put my shirt back on.

“Austin,” I ring out, “I’m in here.” I sit on my bed, and he comes in.

Austin sits on the corner of my bed, and I crawl over, and pull him down, connecting our lips once again. Austin flips me over, and runs his large hands on my sides. My whole body gets covered in goosebumps as he slides his hands to the hem of my shirt, quickly taking it off. I return the favor to him, and he begins kissing my neck. “Austin,” I hum as he moves lower and lower.

Austin begins to unbutton my jeans, when all of a sudden, I remember my cuts. “Wait, no, I can’t do this.” I bawled out, tears already threatening to run down my cheeks.

“What’s wrong? Was it something I did? Kaylee, I’m so sorry. Please, please, don’t cry.” He pleads as all of my tears fall. “Kaylee, we don’t have to. It’s my fault for even going this far. I’m so sorry.” He stands up, and leans down to pick up both of our shirts.

“Austin, please, don’t leave.” I stutter out.

“I’m right here. What do you need me to do?” Austin asks, kneeling to my bedside.

“Please, just stay the night. Please.” I beg. He nods, and pulls me into a hug.
