Chapter two

I finally made it to the stage and started to help set up. "Have you talked to them yet?" Derrek asked. "Who?" "You know who." He smirked. "I asked where Blake and Jake were. Then they asked what time our set is." I shrugged as if it was nothing, I mean it is nothing. "Here, can you carry this?" Derrek asked stopping the conversation. I quickly grabbed the handle to Blake's bass and carried it over to the grass. "I think that's all." He cued when I walked back to the trailer. "Uh, where's my guitar?" I asked realizing the trailer was completely empty. "I carried it out and set it next to mine, it's by the stage." A wave of relief swept over me. I just want to get by without anything major to go wrong. "Almost Alice, twenty minutes." The stage manager announced. The words immediately made me nervous. I leaned against the side of the stage and closed my eyes taking long, deep breaths. I heard someone walk beside me and suddenly my feet left the ground. "Derrreeekkk!" I whined opening my eyes. "Stop thinking so much." He said lightly setting me down. "I know, but the first day of tour is always the hardest." "Hey, sorry we got caught up in a game." Jake and Blake ran up the hill over to us. "Your bass is over there." I pointed. "Where are my sticks?" Jake asked. "Uh-" "They're right here." Derrek said handing them to him. Derrek smiled, "stop worrying. Everything's turning out fine." "I know." "Five minutes." The stage manager rang again. Jake stepped halfway up the steps. Blake followed only a step below him. "You ready?" Derrek asked. "No." I smiled. "But, I will be when I get up there." I finished. I saw some movement out of the corner of my eyes and noticed Jake went on stage. Soon Blake joined him. "Let's go." Derrek said walking a few steps in front of me. I hurried next to him and we walked on stage together. I went to the right side of the stage, where I always stood, and I faced the crowd. There were so many kids, it was so surreal. Last time we played warped, the year I graduated, we were on a very small stage just getting our name out there. I bent over and started playing our first song. I raised my self to my toes and jumped around. When the song ended it was my cue to talk to the fans. "Hey!" I screamed into the mic and strummed on my guitar. "We're Almost Alice" Derrek said subsequently. The crowd cheered after he spoke. "Wow Derrek I think they find you attractive." I joked, joking around helped keep me calm too. "Who wouldn't." I rolled my eyes, "I could find a couple." I laughed. "Oh come on. We all know you want me." "Stop being a cockblock and let's start this fucking party!" I said, propping up my leg on one of that amps followed by starting our second song. The crowd moved in reaction. I kept my eyes looking down or closed most of the time unless I was singing backup. It's the only way I could keep calm. "How the first day of Warped going for you guys?" Derrek asked and the crowd screamed loudly. "Shut up Derrek and play some music. That's what they're here for." I laughed. He shot me a glare, he talks way too much on stage. Even our tour manager, Todd, told him that. We played four more songs before we ended the set. "Thank you guys!" I waved, throwing some picks out into the crowd. I soon started off the stage realizing I was the only still up there. As I turned the corner towards the steps, I noticed the guys were standing and talking to All Time Low in the grass. "What decided to talk to them without me?" I asked as I walked off the last step. The heads turned to me, "you were fucking around on stage." Jake laughed. I playfully smacked him as I joined the group. "I was throwing picks." I corrected. "Hey, Todd texted a second ago, water balloons are ready." Derrek mentioned smiling wide. "This is going to be so awesome come on."I rushed. "We'll go grab the buckets, you stay here and pick a spot." Blake suggested. "Yea, sure." I agreed. They walked away leaving me standing with All Time Low, I watched as the guys disappeared and I bit the edge of my lip determining what to say. I turned around, "Uh, are you guys going to join? "Uh, I don't know if it's a good idea."Alex spoke up with a nervous laugh. "Oh the fans." "Yeah I love them but they're uh crazy." "Yeah, I know. I'm a fan." I admitted. "Really?" He asked. "Yeah, uh. You guys are big inspiration. To every on in the band of course." I said awkwardly, they're probably thinking the worst since they have to tour with a fan. "You guys are brave." Rian chimed in getting us back on topic. "It's for fun, believe me. They learn boundaries well most of them." "I think we'll sit this one out." Alex spoke. I didn't think anything of it. They guys love their fans, and they do a lot with/for them. I would never question that. Maybe they had some other reason. "I guess I'll see you on the bus later then." I waved and turned to walk away. I looked up to find a long straight strip of walkway. Perfect. I pulled out my phone and took a picture and sent it to Derrek. 'Looks great, on our way now'. I sat down in the cool grass. Fuck it was hot out here. These kids are dedicated. In the distance I noticed Derrek, Todd, Jake, and Blake carrying large buckets. I stood up and hurried over towards them. "This is awesome." I said with a large grin. "Come on let's carry these over here." Blake instructed We all gathered the buckets and hid them behind objects. "Put two in the open so kids can grab some too." Jake mention. After we finished we divided into teams. Jake and Blake on one side, Derrek and I on the other. I held up my hand counting down from three using my fingers. "Go!" Derrek yelled when my hand reached a fist. We frantically threw water balloons and the kids quickly caught on to what we were doing and joined in. It was possibly one of the funnest things I've done in a long time. I shook my wet hair out of my face and caught a glimpse of Alex and Jack watching. I stood up from behind a tree and made my way over to them.
