An Imperial Affliction
Anna Malone is a cancer patient from Pasadena, California. She lives with her mother, a one-eyed tulip lover. Anna is perfectly content spending what will likely be her last days, gardening with her mother alone, because that is what she finds familiar.
However, this all changes when her mother is charmed by Hamel Bodden, a Dutch tulip salesman. While he seems perfectly kind and well-meaning, Anna is not convinced. She firmly believes that Hamel is a conman, trying to take advantage of herself and her mother.
Anna learns of truth, love, understanding, and acceptance in An Imperial Affliction, inspired by the novel by John Green, The Fault in Our Stars.
