I Can't Believe How Bad You Got Me

Ryan and Kirstie have been helping Jake and I out a lot. It’s really sweet of them. They stayed for about a week, until I assured them that we had everything under control. We kind of have a routine down now. Of course Ryan said he’d stay another week. That’s ok! I think all this time with newborn babies has convinced him and his wifey that they need more babies.
Today was our first day without the Dungey’s hanging around. We had a busy morning though. I got up when one of the babies started fussing. It turned out to be Leland. So he wouldn’t wake his brothers, I quickly scooped him up and took him downstairs. As I was heating him a bottle, Jake came down with our little girl in his arms. He looked like he was still waking up, but he still put a smile on when he glanced over at me.
“Wanna trade?” he asked through a groggy tone.
“I think daddy just wants to go back to bed,” I snickered to our daughter before handing him Leland and taking her.
“Mhm,” he managed to chuckle as he took the bottle and Leland back up the stairs.
I heard his footsteps trail all the way up the stairs and back into our room. A few seconds later, I heard the other two fussing. Before I could rush to them, Jake shouted that he got it. Riley even said that she would take their bottles up for me. That was sweet. After I put her down, I fixed them and she scurried off with one in each hand. When she came back down, she assured me that Jake had everything under control. I wanted to go check on him, but Riley needed breakfast. And I was convinced that if he really needed anything, he would shout for me.
Riley just wanted cereal for breakfast. That was simple enough. I sat at the kitchen table with her, talking about whatever she wanted to babble about. I know the attention on her is a little less since the babies have came home, but she seems to be adjusting well. She’s still just as happy as before. It shows that she’s proud to be a big sister too. It’s so sweet. I love my baby girl.
When she was finished, she went into the living room where toys are normally scattered around the floor. While she was busying herself, I told her that I was going to go check on her father. She came up with me, but disappeared into her room, leaving me to go into Jake and I’s alone. Once I opened the door though, I just… couldn’t go inside. The most precious sight was in there. Jake was lying in the center of our bed… asleep. On his chest was a sleeping Leland. Pillows were under his arms, propping them up so that he could hold onto Logan and Lucas better. Both of those boys were curled up into his side, sleeping as well.
After the shock of cuteness wore off, I managed to snap a few pictures… and sent one to Kirstie. Tucking my phone away, I crawled onto the bed gently, careful not to wake any of them. I just needed to kiss him. He’s the best daddy ever. Reaching over Lucas in his arm, I pressed my lips against his forehead. Just that light touch, made his long eyelashes flick open. I felt my smile curl across my lips once his eyes focused. A soft grunt escaped him as he shifted a bit.
“Look at you,” I beamed.
“I got this,” he smirked through is grogginess.
“Such a pro,” I agreed.
“Didn’t ever need Ryan or Kirstie,” he grumbled and pulled Lucas and Logan a little closer to him.
“But it was really nice of them to stay for a while,” I countered.
“I think they’re gonna have a baby soon,” he smirked once more.
“I think so too,” I couldn’t help but smile.
“Have to copy off of us,” he mumbled.
“I hope they have multiples too though,” I couldn’t help but confess.
“Now, they can’t get ahead of us…” he replied.
“But it would be cute!” I just gushed.
“You’re cute,” he taunted.
“Shut up!” I felt my face flush
As he chuckled, the door to our room opened a little more, showing off Riley. She peaked in and came rushing over to me. I smiled and pulled her up onto the bed with us. Jake told her to come closer. When she did, he puckered his lips out. She giggled and leaned into him more, giving her daddy kisses. It was just all so adorable. I have the cutest family… But I cannot wait for the day when Kirstie and Ryan tell us that they’re going to be extending their little Dungey family.
