Sequel: For Diamonds And Gold

Million Dollar Houses

Chapter 13

I checked myself in the mirror one last time before getting out of the car. I had decided to take some of those music classes since I used to take them before anyway. Mike and Tony had helped me sign up online yesterday after my short nap.

It had seemed the best way to take my mind of Vic and Ronnie, why mope about on things that will make me sad when I can do something that makes g happy?

I walked up the stairs to the small building and entered through the double doors. I was in a small lobby which was roughly the same size as Vic's lobby. I walked over to the small desk that had a lady sat behind it, flicking through a magazine.

"Excuse me?" I said to get her attention, she looked up at me and I almost burst out laughing. It was the same girl who worked as a waitress at that place me and Vic went when we first met except she wasn't blonde anymore, her hair was a mixed shade of blue, pink and green?

"Yes?" She answered seeming annoyed, I guess she remembers me then.

"That's no way to talk to students" I replied smiling at her, her eyes widened slightly and she shook she head.

"Your not coming here are you?" She asked and my smile grew even bigger and I nodded my head.

"Yep. I signed up yesterday, Quinn? Kellin Quinn?" I said and watched her type my name into the computer in front of her. I can't believe she works here now, I mean what are the odds, honestly?

"Your in room 401b" she sighed and went back to her magazine, I looked up at the clock above her, I still have a bit of time left before I actually have to be in class.

"So how come you work here now? Got tired of flirting with peoples fiancée's" I joked, she glared at me and I don't why but I just found it funny.

"That's none of your business, and anyway, I know he wanted me" she shrugged her shoulders.

"He's gay, love" I replied putting emphasis on the word 'gay'. She doesn't seriously think he was attracted to her does he?

"That's what he says but his eyes said different that day" she said it so casually that I found myself start to get a little pissed of. Vic doesn't like anyone but me, especially not girls last time I checked.

"Well then why is he marrying me?" I asked

"I dunno, your probably the best he could get since Not many people want to get hitched these days" she looked into my eyes and I felt like slapping her, ugh! She's so annoying.

"Your not the only one who likes to mess with people, love" she smiled and bit her lip. It took me a moment to realise what she had said but when I did I felt a slow smile grow on my lips. Maybe she's not so dumb after all.

"Very well played" I smiled "but that wasn't the least bit funny" I added with a straight face and she smiled at me, I couldn't help but smile back as I walked away. This day is already turning out to be okay.

I turned the corner and walked down a hallway filled with pictures of different types of musicians. I didn't know most of them but the ones I did know were obvious ones like Bob Marley or Jimi Hendrix.

I stopped in front of a door, 401b. Okay, this is it, I was excited as I opened the door and stepped inside. My first music class in a long time, I hope they don't teach me stuff I already know. There was only a few people in the room when I entered and I recognised one of them straight away as Justin from the music shop.

I stood at the back of the room, there was a few chairs with small desks in the middle, different types of instruments were lined up around the room and posters covered most if the walls. I looked at Justin again and saw him coming over to me.

"Hey, you came" he smiled happily

"Yep" I replied "I didn't know you came here too" I frowned

"Yeah, it's great, you'll love it" he smiled, he was smiling a lot and it kind of freaked me out a bit but I don't let him know that.

"So where's the teacher?" I asked looking around the half empty room and as if on cue the door opened to reveal a young looking man with tattoos on both his arms.

"Hello everyone" he said walking to the front of the room and setting down his bag and guitar.

"My names Garret for those of you who didn't know and I'm going to be your music teacher for as long as you keep paying me" he said

Everyone took their seats and I followed suit, taking a place next to Justin. He smiled at me and I swear I saw him wink before turning his attention to the man at the front of the room.

"Okay so! We were learning about lyrics" Garret sat on a chair and leaned forward, resting his elbows on his knees. "So what did we say was the most important thing when it came to writing?" he asked

I sighed quietly, I've already done this and I was really hoping we'd do something new.

"Good beat?" said a girl who was sitting at the front. Good beat? Is she serious?

"Emotion" I said quietly to myself, it wasn't hard.

"Emotion?" said a loud voice, I turned to look beside me and saw Justin smiling, I couldn't help but smile back.

"Yes! Finally, someone who listens when I speak" said Garret pointing at Justin, that little cheat, he heard me say it I bet.

"Okay, so I asked you all to bring in a few lines for a song, anyone wanna share theirs?"

The room went silent, nobody made a move to stand up. I looked at Justin who was staring at his desk as if it there was sheets of hard equations littering it. A few seconds had passed and still nobody moved, Garret looked liked he was fed up and I guess I felt pity for him and I barely realised just how much pity I felt for him until everyone turned to look at me because I had stood up.

"Okay good, tell us all your lines" said Garret looking more relaxed.

My lines? Ugh! For fucks sake Kellin, what are you doing?! I looked down at the book on my desk and opened it, flipping through the few pages I had written on. Okay, a line, a line, just pick a line, read it and then sit the fuck down.

"Ermm..." I cleared my throat "do I have to sing them?" I asked, really hoping he'd say no.

"Please do"

"Okay." I cleared my throat before starting "True friends lie underneath,
These witty words I don't believe
I can't believe a damn thing they say anymore
Lie! Liar, you'll pay for your sins
Now! Liar, I know all the places you've been
Forgiveness ...this taste all but poisons my mouth
I scream but nothing, nothing will come out
You've gone too far
So tell me how does it feel, how does it feel to be like you?
I think your mouth should be quiet 'cause it never tells the truth
So tell me, so tell me why, why does it have to be this way?
Why can't things ever change?"

I finished singing and then sat down quickly, I wasn't shy, but I've never sang any of my lyrics for anyone before, not even Kailey. The room was silent and then there was a sudden round of applause, I looked around at everyone and smiled. They actually liked it!

"Wow Kellin, you have a great voice" Justin told me when the clapping had stopped.

"Thanks" I smiled and felt my face heat up from the compliment.

"Wow!" exclaimed Garret "You see people? this is the sort of stuff I expect to see from you, if you want to be a musician you can't shy away when someone asks you to play can you? You have to be like...?" he looked at me and raised his eyebrows.

"Oh, err, Kellin" I replied quickly

"Kellin, that's an unusual name, anyway you guys have to be more interactive you know?" Garret carried on talking about different styles of writing which I already knew about.

Everybody else though seemed to be listening intently at what he was saying so I just started finishing the song I had sang earlier. It was hard, I couldn't think of a way to make it perfect, something is missing but I can't figure out what. After an hour of mindlessly writing down lyrics and doodling the class was finally over, I sighed and got up from my seat to gather my things together.

"Hey Kellin, you wanna grab some lunch with me?" asked Justin when I put away my things. I looked down at my watch and saw it was almost 10pm where Vic was meaning I could Skype him for an hour until he had to go to bed.

"Oh... err, well..."

"Forget it, you have stuff to do I understand, maybe tomorrow instead?" he asked smirking at me and this time I didn't miss the wink directed at me. I felt myself blush slightly but thankfully it wasn't to visible.

"Yeah I guess, I'll have to see if I'm free though" I answered

"Yeah cool, are you gonna give me your number then" he said it as more of a command than a question. I quickly pulled out my phone, bought my number up on the screen and handed it to him. He smiled and then handed it back to me

"See you later then" he said and walked out through the door, I stood for a moment, rooted to the spot. Did Justin just ask me out on a date? He said lunch but that doesn't necessarily mean date right?

"Excuse me?" I turned to the quiet voice that tapped my shoulder, "Your really Kellin Quinn?" asked the girl. She had long black hair, green eyes and was quiet short, she was adorable to say the least.

"Last time I checked" I smiled at her

"I'm Abby, you have a great voice by the way, it's really amazing" she said some of her shyness slipping away but then immediately coming back

"Can I ask you a question?" she asked

"Sure" I replied, wondering what she was going to say, although judging by her Pierce The veil shirt I think I kind of already knew.

"Is it true about you and V-Vic?" she stuttered, her cheeks turning red slightly and pointing to her T-shirt. I smiled and nodded my head.

"Yes" I laughed as her eyes widened "But he's not here right now"

"I know! he's on tour!" she practically shouted, a few people turned around to look at us and gave us weird looks.

"I can't believe it's you, do you know how many people are talking about you?" she asked

"People are talking about me?" I frowned, what's there to say about me? There is literally nothing exciting going on in my life, except that I'm marrying Vic.

"Well... when I say people I mean tumblr" she said. Tumblr? I'm not surprised anyway, the people on there like to bitch about everything whether it be good or bad.

"Oh, well it was nice talking to you but I really have to go" I said looking down at my watch, Vic would be trying to call me any minute from now.

"Wait! Do you maybe wanna hang out sometime? You can teach me how to write lyrics as amazing as yours"

"Err, yeah, sure that would be cool" I said quickly, I didn't want to miss Vic, I had so much to tell him and I'm sure he had things to tell me too.

"Okay, could I get your number? Or you could have mine, whichever" said Abby

I was about to answer her when my phone started ringing, I pulled it out from my pocket and glanced down at the cute picture of Vic on the screen.

"I love you" he said as soon as I answered his call

"What?" I laughed, "You didn't even say hello"

"You didn't even say 'I love you too'" replied Vic, I could hear the smile in his voice and it made want to laugh because I was really happy that he was happy.

"I love you too" I smiled and from the corner of my eye I saw Abby's face look shocked and then a huge smile spread across her pale lips.

"That's more like it, oh and Hello" He chuckled "anyway I called to tell you that I'll be coming back in about three weeks so you could meet me in .... Hold on" I heard him talking to someone in the background for a few seconds before he returned.

"You could meet me in Germany" he said

"Really?" I replied, I looked at Abby and mouthed to her that I had to go, she tried to stop me by shaking her head but I ignored her and walked out of the room. I don't mean to come across as rude but this is a private conversation and I'd rather people not listen in.

"Oh my god Vic, that's great, I can't wait to see you now!" I said walking out of the lobby

"Oh! So before you could wait and now that I tell this, you can't wait?" he said

"Yep. Hey, guess what I did today? I signed up for music classes, I started today" I told him excitedly. I got my keys from my pocket and unlocked the car then got in and sat inside talking to Vic.

"That's great, are you being a good student?" he said a little more seductive than I'd expected.

"Yeah, of cause I am. I was the only one who was willing to sing some of my lyrics, I think I impressed the teacher a lot" I said

"Well, I hope you didn't impress him the way you impress me" he said, I frowned and then my face grew hot from realising what he meant.

"Shut up" I muttered and I heard him laugh on the other end, he always succeeded in making me feel awkward. "I have to drive home right now but we can Skype when when I get there"

"Oh, well I can't today babe, I'm on my way to a meet and greet with the other guys and then straight after we'll be on way to our next destination" he explained.

I sighed and leaned back in my seat, I'd been looking forward to talking to him all day and now that wasn't going to happen. I couldn't blame him though, it's his job, he has to make money somehow.

"Okay" I replied "That sucks!"

"No, I like meet and greets, it's actually quiet fun, maybe I'll take you to one when you come to Germany" said Vic "but right now I really have to go, we've just arrived at the Meet and Greet place and there's loads of fans crowding the bus"

"Okay, talk to you tomorrow?" I asked

"Yeah course, I love you kells" Vic said quickly before hanging up. I started at the phone screen and bit my lip. What am I waiting for? Vic isn't going to call me back he has stuff to do. I sighed and started up the car so I could begin my short journey home.

When I got home, I parked the car outside the house and sat for a while. I was going to be alone again, maybe I could watch some movies? Or ask Mike over? I was about to get out of the car when my phone beeped, I frowned and looked down at the name on the screen. Justin had texted me, I opened the message up and saw it was an address to someone's house along with the word 'Party'.

Justin wanted me to come to a party? I've only known him one day and he's already inviting me to places. I typed out a reply:

To:Justin
Party? Who's? Time and okay :)

I hit the send button and bit my lip nervously, is this a good idea? Maybe I should stay home in case Vic tries to call me. But he isn't going to call me. Oh fuck it! I should be able to enjoy myself, I can't stay home all day doing nothing and everything and moping around waiting until I could see Vic again.

From: Justin
A friends. 9pm but tomorrow

He replied almost immediately and I sent him confirmation telling him I'd be there. I got out of the car no longer feeling down but instead excited and nervous at the same time. I don't go to a lot of parties, correction, I don't get invited to a lot of parties but then even if I did I probably wouldn't go anyway. I unlocked the front door and slammed it shut behind me before running to the kitchen to make something to eat.

"I hadn't eaten all day, except for a piece of toast in the morning but that was hours ago. I looked in the cupboard and found a box of pop tarts, so I decided that those will have to do until later. I popped them in the toaster and waited, thinking about the party and what could happen there. Was it really a good idea to go to a party with some guy I met in a music shop and have only seen twice?

I'm sure nothing bad will happen, I mean I'm only going to a party. The pop tarts popped up from the toaster and the doorbell rang at the same time, I took my pop tarts and went to see who it was. Maybe it's Mike? but he never rings the doorbell, just strolls on in.

"Hello Kellin"

To say I was shocked when I opened the door and saw Ronnie standing there would be an understatement.

"You gonna let me in?" He smiled and nodded towards inside the house.

"What the fuck are doing here?" I asked when I had recovered from shock.

"I'm here to see you" he said and pushed past me walking into the house. I shut the door and followed him into the living room, he dropped down on the sofa and propped his legs up on the glass coffee table.

What the fuck is he doing here? I pushed his legs off the table and glared at him.

"Get out Ronnie" I said crossing my arms over my small chest

"Aww, why? I came to see you" he smirked

"What do you want?" I asked him frowning, the sooner he leaves the better, so he better make this quick.

"I want you to leave Vic alone" he said bluntly, his smirk was gone and his face was now emotionless. I didn't know what to say, I wasn't expecting that at all.

"W-What?" I stuttered and silently cursed myself for doing it.

"W-W-What?" Ronnie mimicked me, he got to his feet and I couldn't help but feel intimidated by his height. "You heard what I said"

"Yeah but..."

"But nothing!" he interrupted "You ruined everything for me in high school, I was still glad I had my music with me but now you plan on taking that too?" he half shouted

I had absolutely no idea what he was talking about. I ruined things for him? I'm pretty sure I was the one who would get beaten on almost everyday because of him.

"What!" I said confused "What are you talking about? I never did anything to you" I said taking a step back, I didn't like how close he was standing to me right now.

"Oh yes you did! Everything I had you just had to take didn't you?"

"Wha-? What the fuck!" I was beyond confused now, Is he serious? "Do you hear yourself right now? Get the fuck out of my house you phsyco!" I pointed to the door but he didn't move, just stared at me with pure hatered.

"No. Not until you pack your bags and leave" he was so calm it was almost scary but I wasn't going to let him treat me like this in my own home.

"Me and Vic are getting married and whether you like it or not, frankly is not my problem" I said "Now fucking leave or I'll call the police" I threatened but I knew I wasn't going to.

He took a step towards me and I took one back, a smirk on his face as he slowly shook his head. He knew I wouldn't call the police, I was about to tell him to leave again but the words didn't get a chance to escape from my mouth when I felt a fist collide with my jaw.

I gasped and held my palm against my aching jaw, pain shot threw the left side of my face so quickly I had to shut my eyes.

"Take this as a warning you faggot!" He spat "if you fuck things up with him, if you take away my music or hurt him or any of the other guys in anyway then I will fucking rip you to shreds with my own bare hands" he spoke through gritted teeth.

"Do you hear me?" he shouted and kicked my leg causing me to fall to the floor and curl up in to a ball. I couldn't speak and even if I wanted to the pain throbbing on my jaw and now my leg would not have let me, so I nodded my head quickly and shut my eyes.

"Good, because anything happens to that band I'm going to blame you responsible" he said and then turned around and walked out of the house, leaving the door wide open so I'd have to get up and close it.

As soon as I heard his car start up I let out a loud groan from the pain I felt, I held my leg close to my chest and rested my head on in. He'd hit me hard and it hurt like a bitch but I didn't want him to know that.

"Fuck!" I whispered to myself and slowly pulled myself up using the sofa, I unbuttoned my jeans and carefully pulled down the tight fabric to reveal an elephant sized bruise already forming. I touched the bruise gently with my fingers hissed at the hot lump on my leg. Great, it was swelling too, looks like I'm not going to that party after all.
