It's Complicated

Chapter 4

Wayne and Annie sat his bed working on their assignment for their writing class. “What’re you doing for your assignment?” Annie said leaning closer to see what Wayne was doing. “Nothing.” He said turning the page towards his obstructing her view. “Let me see.” She said pouting. He sighed. “Fine.” He said handing her the page. “This is really good.” She said smiling. “I wrote it for you.” He said softly. “Really?” She said hardly keeping back her excitement. “Yeah.” He said laughing at the look on her face. “Will you sing it to me?” She asked batting her eyelashes. “Sure.” He said and cleared his throat.

“Cut the music up, little louder
Yeah

You had a lot of crooks tryna steal your heart
Never really had luck, couldn’t ever figure out
How to love
How to love
You had a lot of moments that didn’t last forever
Now you’re in this corner tryna put it together
How to love
How to love

For a second you were here
Now you’re over there it’s hard not to stare the way you’re moving you body
Like you never had love
Never had love

When you was just a youngin your looks were so precious
But now you’re grown up
So fly it’s like a blessing but you can’t have a man look at you fro five seconds
Without you feeling insecure
You never credit yourself, so when you got older
It seems like you came back ten times over
Now you’re sitting here in this damn corner
Looking through all your thoughts and looking over you shoulders

See you had a lot of crooks tryna steal your heart
Never really had luck, couldn’t figure out
How to love
How to love

See you had a lot of moments that didn’t last forever
Now you’re in this damn corner tryna put it together
How to love
How to love
For a second you were here
Now you’re over there
It’s hard not to stare the way you’re moving your body like
You never had love
Had a love

Oh, you had a lot of dreams that transformed to visions
The fact that you saw the world affected all your decisions
But it wasn’t your fault
Wasn’t in your intentions
To be the one here talking to me
Be the one listenin’
But I admire your poppin bottles and dippin
Just as much as you admire bartending and stripping
Baby so don’t be mad
Nobody else trippin

You see you had a lot of crooks tryna steal your heart
Never really had luck couldn’t ever figure out
How to love
How to love

See you had a lot of moments that didn’t last forever
Now you’re in this corner tryna out it together
How to love
How to love

Oh
See I just want you to know
That you deserve the best
You’re beautiful
You’re beautiful
Yeah

And I want you to know
You’re far from the usual
Far from the usual

See you had a lot of crooks tryna steal your heart
Never really had luck, couldn’t ever figure out
How to love
How to love

See you had a lot of moments that didn’t last forever
Now you’re in this corner tryna put it together
How to love
How to love

See you had a lot of crooks tryna steal your heart
Never really had luck, couldn’t ever figure out
How to love
How to love

Yeah, see you had a lot of moments that didn’t last forever
Now you’re in this corner tryna figure out
How to love
How to love, hmm”

“Wow.” Was all Annie could say. “Good ‘wow’ or bad ‘wow’?” Wayne said looking at her nervously. “Good wow.” She said smiling. “So you like it?” He said looking at her nervously. “I love it.” She said. Wayne paused. “What is it?” Annie said looking at him. He shook his head. Annie shrugged and carried on with her assignment. “You’re really beautiful.” Wayne said breaking the silence. “You really think so?” She said looking at him with an insecure look on her face. “Yeah.” He said caressing her cheek. She flinched at the pain. “Does it hurt?” He said looking at her seriously. “A little.” She said softly. Wayne disappeared down the hall. “Here you go baby.” Cita said gently placing an icepack against Annie’s cheek. Annie flinched at the coldness. “Sorry.” Cita said softly. “It’s okay.” Annie said smiling. “Thank you.” Annie said looking at Cita. “What for?” She said looking at Annie. “Everything you’ve done for me.” She said smiling. “You’re welcome.”
