Wasting All These Tears on You
Five
"Was that him?" I asked Jordan when he walked in the door.
"Yeah." He said bitterly
"Oh." I said quietly
"I have practice today." He sighed.
"Awwww." I said with a pout on my face
"I wish I didn't." He said.
"Bye Jordy." I said
"Bye Rach." He said. Later that day he called and said that he would be out with Jeff Skinner until about midnight. I jumped in the Chevy Suburban he bought me and headed down to a music store and bought a guitar. Then I headed down to downtown Raleigh and sat on a bench an got my guitar out and started to sing.
"I tried to find you at the bottom of a bottle
Laying down on the bathroom floor
My loneliness was a rattle in the windows
You said you don't want me anymore
And you left me
Standing on a corner crying,
Feeling like a fool for trying
I don't even remember
Why I'm wasting all these tears on you
I wish I could erase our memory
Cause you didn't give a damn about me
Oh, finally I'm through
Wasting all these tears on you
These tears on you
You ain't worth another sleepless night
And I'll do everything I gotta do to get you off my mind
Cause what you wanted I couldn't get
What you did, boy I'll never forget
And you left me
Standing on a corner crying
Feeling like a fool for trying
I don't even remember
Why I'm wasting all these tears on you
I wish I could erase our memory
Cause you didn't give a damn about me
Oh, finally I'm through
Wasting all these tears on you
These tears on you
And you left me
Standing on a corner crying
Feeling like a fool for trying
I don't even remember
Why I'm wasting all these tears on you
I wish I could erase our memory
Cause you didn't give a damn about me
Oh, finally I'm through
Wasting all these tears on you
These tears on you
I tried to find you at the bottom of a bottle
Laying down on the bathroom floor" I finished my song and a man came up to me.
"Your a very good singer miss. I was wondering I you were interested in signing a record label with Deep South Records?"
"Are you serious?!" I said excited.
"Most certainly. And I'm guessing that's an original song." He said
"Yeah it is." I replied
"With deep lyrics like that you're sure to be successful" he said with a warm smile.
"Thank you so much!" I said
"Stop by tomorrow around three and we'll sign the contract." He said.
"Okay I will." I said and he got up and left. I called Jordan.
"Hello?" He said
"GUESS WHAT!!!!!" I screamed into the phone.
"What?" He answered confused
"I'M GONNA GET A RECORD DEAL!!!!!!"
"WHAT?!?!?! I TOLD YOU YOU WOULD GET ONE A LONG TIME AGO!!!!!!!!" He screamed into the phone excited.
"I sang my new song downtown and a guy from the label talked to me." I said with a huge grin on my face.
"That's awesome." I could hear the smile in Jordan's voice
"Hey I gotta go but I'll talk to you later." I said.
"Okay love you." He said
"Love you too." I said and hung up.
I thought back to the person I wrote the song about and sighed. I hope he understands how I feel about him when he hears this song all over the radio.
