Let's Don't Call It A Night; Casey James

Callie adjusted her green Star's jersey, and made her way to her seat, passing by a few girls, to which she got a glare for the name on the back of her jersey. She wanted to roll her eyes at them, but instead she just passed them and took her seat between Kelly and Kara, who were both waiting for her. She had gotten off work and practically had to rush there to make it on time for puck drop, and she was glad she had gotten to her seat with ten minutes to spare.

Kara then handed her a cup full of beer and said, “Corona.”

Callie grinned, “thank you.”

Kelly then asked, “so, how was your day?”

Callie shrugged, “long. I'm just happy I got here on time, and that in a few hours I can crawl into a nice warm bath.”

Kara grinned at her, “and the beer while we're here doesn't hurt huh?”

Callie held up her cup, the two girls laughed and clinked them together before Callie said, “amen to that. There's only one thing that goes with a good hockey game, and that's beer.”

“What are you gonna do when you're pregnant next year and can't have beer during hockey?” Kelly asked, making Kara raise her eyebrow at Callie.

Callie's smile dropped from her face instantly, “I never even thought of that. Fuck. I'm gonna be a bitch from hell then.”

Kelly laughed and Kara asked, “you guys are planning kids that soon?”

Callie shrugged, “he wants them now, and thinks a compromise is waiting until we're married before we have one, I don't know, we're kind of taking the whole baby thing in stride.”

Kara nodded slowly, “does that mean you're gonna have to start sitting in the WAG box?”

“I probably won't even come to games for the first bit. But I've seen lots of people sitting out here for games with babies, they just use ear muffs.” Callie said, dismissing it with a shrug as the whistle was blown and the puck was dropped.

By the time first intermission was over Callie was pretty sure she had fallen asleep once or twice, but she had been up at 5 that morning with a migraine and then pulled a 10 hour shift in the mall right before Valentines day, which was never fun to begin with. She was sure that she would fall asleep during the second period so once everyone had made their way to get more drinks and food she got up and left the arena, hoping the fresh air would help.

She wrapped her arms around herself as someone stood a few feet away, in tighter jeans than she thought she had seen anyone wear, and a stars top that was cut off to show her stomach. Callie watched from the corner of her eyes as the girl lit a cigarette, and turned to look at Callie. Her eyes lingered on her longer than Callie liked, and she was thinking of turning back to go inside when the girl motioned to her jersey and said, “Jamie right?” Callie turned, eyebrows crunched, and the girl clarified, “your jersey.”

Feeling her cheeks heat up slightly Callie nodded, “yeah.”

“He's a pretty nice guy. Ever met him?” Callie almost laughed at this.

Instead she smiled and said, “once or twice around town.”

The girl nodded, took a drag of her cigarette and said, “yeah I'm a dancer at Teddy's. Lots of the Stars go there. Lots of them like a little extra if you know what I mean.”

Callie nodded, knowing there was a few guys on the team that probably would take more than one of those girls home, but only said, “yeah, probably.”

“I've taken a few of them home. Get a few drinks in them and it's like high school sex you know? Jamie though, I mean he's better than good in bed. I have a strict one time only rule but I broke that god like four times in a week with him.” Callie felt her mouth go dry the minute the words left the girls mouth, she couldn't help but turn to take a good look at the girl, who looked like she was barely 21, her blonde hair was stringy and looked like it needed a good dye job, and her clothes were far too small for her.

Callie didn't say anything to her in response, she wasn't sure she could even speak, and was thankful when the girl looked at her phone and announced, “oh, the games starting.”

Callie watched as she left, before she backed up and leaned against the wall of the arena, hands on her knees. She took a few deep breaths, she knew she shouldn't have let it bother her, she trusted Jamie, but it didn't mean that when someone says something like that to you it doesn't hit you hard, especially when it's unexpected.

She stayed outside for over half of the second period until she got a text from Kelly asking where she was and that she was gonna miss the whole period if she didn't get back soon. Callie sighed, pushing her hands through her hair before she pushed off the wall and walked back inside, making her way back to her seat.

Kelly and Kara both raised their eyebrows at her as she sat down again, noticeably in less of a good mood than before. Callie flicked through Twitter on her phone, sending a text to all her sisters, just to check in and say hi as they liked to do every so often. She looked up when the period was over and Kara had nudged her, a smile on her face as she motioned to the ice. Callie looked up as Jamie glanced at her and smiled, she forced a smile onto her face and once he disappeared off the ice she looked back at her phone. She ignored the way both Kelly and Kara kept looking at her, and she debated going home now and telling them she wasn't feeling well. That wasn't exactly a lie. Instead she decided to stick it out and finish the game for Jamie's sake.

Callie sighed in relief as she slid down into the hot water of the bathtub, she had left a string of her clothes from the hallway all the way to the bathroom, not bothering to pick any of it up. She was glad to finish the day off relaxing and couldn't help but smile as she sunk as low as she possibly could into the water without going under the water.

Jamie chuckled to himself as he climbed up the stairs, finding a pair of jeans crumpled on the floor of the hallway, a few feet over was his jersey, followed by a tank top. Once he pushed the bedroom door open he found a bra, a pair of socks and underwear leading to the bathroom. He could smell gingerbread bubble bath from the bedroom, he had gotten so used to it over the past four years that he knew it was only ever brought out on special occasions or when Callie had a really long day. It was no ones birthday, no holiday, there was nothing to celebrate, so he knew he would likely find Callie in the bathtub with a glass of wine.

He slipped out of his suit, hanging it up in the garment bag, he would get it dry cleaned sometime this week. He knocked on the bathroom door, hearing only a 'hmm' come from the other side of the door so he pushed it open and stepped inside, finding exactly what he expected only sans the wine.

She glanced up as he walked in and smiled, sliding forward in the tub so he could get in. Jamie pulled her back into him, kissed her shoulder and let his hands rest on her stomach as Callie all but dropped back against him. She turned her head, resting her forehead against his neck, leaning up just enough to kiss his jaw quickly before she went back to her previous position.

“Congrats on the win.” She said softly, rubbing his forearm gently.

Jamie smiled and kissed her head, “thanks for being there.”

They fell into a comfortable silence, Callie every so often would stroke her thumb across his arm, Jamie would plant a kiss on her head, but other than that they were silent and still. Callie could feel the water start to get colder, and she finally tilted her head to look up at Jamie and asked, “have you ever been to Teddy's?”

Jamie looked down at her with confusion, “like the bar?” When Callie nodded he shrugged, “yeah, a few times with guys why?”

Callie this time shrugged, “Kelly mentioned it today, I was just curious.”

Jamie nodded slowly and said, “yeah it's not too bad. We don't go there that often, at least I don't.”

Callie wasn't sure if she wanted to ask more questions or if she even wanted to think about this anymore, so she decided she wanted a distraction, after all she had no reason not to trust Jamie. She smiled and shifted so she could turn around to face Jamie, straddling his upper legs, hands on his shoulders. Jamie raised his eyebrow and rested one hand on her leg the other on the small of her back.

“What are you doing?” Callie couldn't help but smirk as Jamie asked this.

She shrugged and leaned down, lips hovering above his ear, “you are going on a long road trip tomorrow.”

Jamie grinned, “that is true.”

Callie smirked at him and glanced down at the water between them, “and I mean I think it's only fair we do something about.. that.”

“This is also true.”
