Violent Kisses and Violent Minds

Chapter Sixteen

Chapter Sixteen:
It was Saturday morning, Sonny and Derek awoke, both remembering the event that occurred just before they fell to sleep.

“Whoa, Sonny,” Derek whispered.

“Derek…” Sonny whispered, even softer than Derek had. “That was amazing.”

“I know. It was,” Derek replied, leaning over and giving Sonny multiple short kisses.

“You know what day it is today?” Sonny breathed.

“It’s Saturday,” Derek replied.

“So we can stay… here… all… day…” Sonny planted kisses on Derek’s lips as he spoke.

12.00, Jess was outside the house she’d just moved into. She was struggling with the key to unlock the mailbox. At this particular time, Matt happened to be going for a walk across the other side of the street. He saw her, and called out, “Jess!”

She looked up, shaking her dark hair out of her face, looking at Matt, smiling slightly and giving him a small wave.

“Hey,” she said as he crossed the street, walking up to her.

“What are you doing?” he asked stupidly.

“Trying to unlock the fucking mailbox,” she replied, roughly jiggling the key in the lock.

“Here, let me have a go,” Matt offered, reaching for the key. His hand softly brushed against Jess’. They looked at each other and Matt smiled. Jess smiled in return as Matt turned the key, the mailbox creaking open.

“So do you need any help with anything else?” He asked, a joking smug look on his face.

“Um, the fridge is a fucking bitch, but I need a break. I’ve been setting up TV’s and microwaves all morning,” Jess explained.

“Do you wanna get a coffee, or lunch, or something then?” he suggested.

“Sure,” Jess smiled. “Guess I should leave a note for mum, she’s picking out a table. One minute.”

“Okay.” Matt smiled as Jess disappeared into the house and returned outside a minute or two later. “Ready?” he asked.

“Yep. Let’s go,” she replied.

The two walked down the streets, on the sidewalk, talking before arriving at one of the local cafes. Matt opened the door, and held it open as he let Jess walk through. She smiled and whispered, “Thanks.”

Matt then led Jess to one of the booth tables and let her sit down before sliding in opposite her. The waitress came and took their order, and it was obvious she liked the looks of Matt. Matt clearly didn’t like her though, and was short and rude to her. When she left Matt and Jess laughed at her… uhh… I mean ‘with’ her.

This café is very popular, so the meals always take about half an hour to prepare. After about five minutes, Simone walked in the door, and noticing Matt and Jess, walked up to the table.

“Hey. What are you two doing here?” Simone questioned.

“Getting something to eat,” Matt smiled.

“You?” Jess asked quickly before being interrogated further.

“Getting a coffee,” Simone replied. “Which I will now order.”

She walked to the counter, paid, and walked back to Matt and Jess to wait for the coffee. She slid into the booth, and Jess slid across, closer to Matt. Jess didn’t notice Matt blush but Simone did.

Simone’s coffee arrived a few minutes later, and she took her to go coffee and left. Jess didn’t move away from Matt, and they were fairly close together in the small booth.

They talked until their meals arrived, then they ate and talked. They both finished when Matt finally mustered up the courage to ask the question he’d been delaying asking throughout the meal, the question he wanted to ask her so bad.

“Jess… I know we’ve only known each other for a few days, but I… I really like you, what I’m trying to say is… and don’t hate me if you don’t feel the same way… maybe we could give things a go together?” Matt stuttered.

“You mean, like...?” Jess began.

“Yeah,” Matt completed. “Dating.”

“I think that has a chance of working. Sure,” Jess said with a smile. Matt returned the smile and they looked into each others eyes.

Matt reached his hand down, a little reserved, and took her hand in his. “I love your eyes,” he said, and softly stroked the side of her cheek with his fingertips.

“Are you kidding?” she asked with a laugh.

“No, I really do,” he confessed.

“That’s a really big compliment, coming from you, because you literally have the most gorgeous eyes I’ve ever seen,” she said, knowing it sounded corny, but it was true.

“Aww, you think so?” Matt said in a prettiful tone.

“Yeah” she replied.

He leant over then, and let his soft lips touch hers for a few seconds before pulling away and looking at her.

“I do” she finished.

“I should probably get you home now…” Matt said. Jess nodded. They got up and paid for the meals. Jess offered to pay for herself but Matt wouldn’t let her, so he ended up paying for the both of them.

The walk back to Jess’ new house took about fifteen minutes. Luckily Matt was with Jess because she couldn’t remember how to get back to her street. Of course, she didn’t own the street, but she lived in one of the houses on the street.

They arrived at her house, and Jess changed the conversation topic by saying, “Well, I guess I’ll see you on Monday then.”

Matt let out a small laugh. “You don’t want any help with the fucking bitch of a fridge you have, then?”

“Yeah, ‘cause you’re just dying to help because it’s so much fun," Jess said sarcastically.

“No, but I want to stay with you. Do you want me to stay?” Matt asked in a very cute tone.

“Yes. And the fridge is a fucking bitch, so good luck with that,” Jess laughed.

They opened the door, only to get a huge fright.
