Deception
John stood, and blood from the knife dripped onto Daniel's pants. His body was sprawled on the floor, his arm bent obscurely, obviously broken. Then, from deep in the dead man's pocket, his cell phone began to ring.
John carefully slipped the phone out and looked at the screen:
1 NEW MESSAGE
John clicked OPEN TO READ.
From: Eden
At: 10:00PM
We need to talk.
John frowned before putting the phone inside his jacket and leaving the house. Then he made his way back to the bar. He needed a good drink before he replied. He could ask her to meet him, knowing she would be upset that Daniel didn't show.
But he would be there for her.
Before he left, he used the house phone to call 911.
