Chapter 39
Being home brings back the responsibility of having a child. As much as i love Ayla-Mai and i wouldn't want my life without her. Being woken at 6am from a crying baby and having jet lag is not a fun time. Ashton and i both groaned as her cries filled our room from the monitor. If you've never been jet lagged before just think about it like being hungover and delusional. I rolled over to Ashton and looked at him hoping he had the same idea of turning the monitor off and pretending shes still asleep, but no he turned to me with a weak smile
"you get her, i'll get the coffee" he got up out of bed
"but i just want to lay here with you and do nothing else" i replied with a pout
"you aren't on holiday anymore, real life is back"
"fine"
i got up and went into Ayla room, there she was on her cot, looking at me and crying, it does break my heart seeing her cry, but i also know shes crying because that's the only way she knows how to express herself, shes crying because she wants out not because shes hurt.
"good morning beautiful" i said picking her up making her stop crying
"ready for another day" i pushed her little hairs out of her face, they were really starting to shape into curls. I walked out into the kitchen and saw Ash had placed a little bowl with mushed banana and a yogurt on her high chair and two cups of coffee were on the counter. I'm so glad he's home.
"thanks babe" i said as i placed her in her chair
"it's what i'm here for"
"do you want to fed her as you're not here for long"
"sure"
we switched places and i waited over by the toaster for it to pop. I watched him feed Ayla and i quickly ran back into my room to grab my phone, i ran back jsut as to toast popped out so i quickly took it out and spread vegemite on it and then turned to snap a picture of this lovely father, daughter moment. I snapped the picture just as Ash was moving the spoon to her face and he had his mouth open and her do the same, it was super cute.
I put a plate of toast next to Ash's coffee and sat down next to him with mine,
"So what are we doing today" he asked
"i thought maybe we could go pop in at your mums, i'm sure she would want to see you and to thank her for looking after Ay"
"yeah that sounds good"
he continued to feed Ayla and eat while i sat sipping my Coffee i opened up Twitter to post the picture i took
@OliviaJess as much as i love seeing him up on stage, nothing warms my heart more than moments like this
i went to Maui's page to see what shes up to and i saw a bunch of pictures of her and theboys out in London showing her the site
"hey don't you find it weird we left Maui with the guys" i said suddenly actually thinking about it. We left Maui across the world with Luke, Michael and Calum.
"yeah i never really thought about it, maybe she should have come back with us"
"well it seems like shes having a good time" i said showing him the picture of Michael, her and Calum in a telephone box but there faces are showing how disgusting it must have smelt.
"well at least shes surviving them"
Maui has never really been left alone with them Ash has always been there and if he hasn't i have.
"We should probably get ready to catch mum before she goes to work" as he spooned the last of the yogurt to Ayla.
"shot gun shower first" i shouted and ran into the bathroom. i let the water run to warm up and then stepped inside after stripping, i felt the water hit my body and it felt so nice, having showers in the morning really do help wake you up even when your body has no idea what time it is on.
i quickly washed over my body and hair before getting out
"babe you want me to keep this running" i shouted
"yeah i'm coming in a sec"
i brushed my teeth and started to put light make up on when Ash came in the bathroom for the shower
"wheres Ayla" i asked
"in her cot, shes crying but just leave her be"
"okay"
i finished my make up and started drying my hair before giving up and just braiding it, i'll let the rest dry in the braid it will be fine.
I put on some jeans and a t-shirt and grabbed a hoodie to throw in the car before walking to Ayla
i picked her up and sat on the floor with her
"so grandad said you are being a little rascal are you going to crawl for mummy"
she just looked at me and shuffled her bum a little
"good job princess" she shuffled in a circle kicking her little legs to help her move.
So maybe my dad exaggerated a bit about her movement process.
"you ready" Ash said from the door with wet hair still and basically wearing the same outfit as me
"We should really stop dressing the same" i said laughing
"whatever, mum goes to work in a little over an hour lets move"
he picked Ayla up and walked out.
"do we need the stroller for later" i shouted"
"maybe" he replied, i grabbed it and headed to the door where my shoes were and slipped them on
"wheres the nappy bag"
"i've got it" he shouted from the garage.
I wheeled the stroller to the garage door and saw him putting Ayla in her seat, i put the stroller in the boot and climbed into the passengers seat. He got i the drivers and we were on the way to Ann's
The drive is only short and within about 10 minutes we were pulling into the driveway
"ready to see Granny" i said as i pulled Ayla out of er seat, Ash was already at the front door ringing the doorbell and by the time i joined him Ann was at the door
"Hello, this is a nice surprise" she said
"hi mum, thought we would drop by" Ash said as she pulled him into a hug, she hugged me as i walked by and into the living room
"we just wanted to stop by and say thank you for looking after Ay" i said as i sat down and let Ay onto the floor.
"oh you don't have to thank me, it's what i'm here for" she replied
"so how was she" Ash asked
"she was a delight, little treasure, hows was Europe"
"great, it's amazing to be playing shows again and to have this one out for a bit" he said pointing to me
"Oh before i forget i was going to bring this round, i don't know if ou want it or not but i knew you wouldn't have seen it"
she gets up and gets a bit of newspaper from the table and hands it to us
"It's about Ayla" she said
I read the article
"For thousand of teenager girls the one thing that has been on their minds for the last 7 months has bee what is ashton Irwins Daughters name. From the beginning Ashton Irwin, Drummer from the band 5 seconds of Summer and his longtime girlfriend Olivia have kept a tight lip about the name of their daughter, but a slip up on Twitter revealed it all last week as a picture of the band after a show showed Irwins drum sticks with the name Ayla-Mai engraved on them. Fans quickly solved the 7 month mystery with figuring out that was her name. A cute name for a cute little girl." a picture of the three of us was at the bottom.
It was only a small article in the newspaper.
"i really didn't think her name was that much of a big deal to make the newspaper" I said
"I know" Ash added
"Thank you for keeping this, i'm going to put it in her memory box" i said
"you're welcome, i'm sorry to make this short but i have to get to work"
we hugged her and said our goodbyes. Ayla quickly fell asleep when placed in her car seat that we decided to drive around a bit to let her take a nap. It was drive driving around not really having a destination we just talked about absolute nothing and enjoyed each others company, with him on tour, we don't get many days like this and after this week i don't know that next time Ayla and I will see Ash in person. So we cherish this moments even if they are just being sat in a car driving.
