Like a Damaged Nerve

New Year's Eve?

“New Year’s Eve?” Patrick asked as we sat with Christian, the wedding planner, in his office. This guy was the best there was in Chicago and Pat had insisted on going to him. We both had decided we wanted to get married on New Year’s Eve and being that it was only two months away, we needed an expert.

“That’s a tight squeeze….most places would be booked by now but…I think I could call around. I’m sure being the fact that hubby to be is a superstar doesn’t hurt either!” Chris said, rubbing his hands together a little bit.

“Is there anything that we need to do?” I asked as Patrick laced our fingers together, squeezing my hand and smiling over at me.

“You, Future Misses Kane, need to find a dress and quick. Other than that, leave it to me. I’ve got all the things you want written down. I’ll call you as soon as I find you a place.” Chris said, smiling at the both of us. Once the meeting finished, Pat and I were heading to meet Jon, Ky and Aubrey for lunch. When we were in the elevator, Pat wrapped his arms around my waist and pulled me against him.

“I can’t wait for us to be married.” He said, smiling and kissing me, pushing me against the wall of the elevator. “Mrs. Patrick Kane….god, it sounds so sexy.”

“Easy there, tiger.” I said, giggling a little as he buried his head in my neck, pressing his lips to my pulse point.

“Let’s go to town hall…” He mumbled, lifting his head and looking in my eyes. I gave him a weird look as he took my hand and stepped out with him, heading for the car. “I’m serious. The ceremony is for our family and friends but we don’t have to wait to sign the license…”

“Pat, don’t you wanna at least have some family here with us for that?” I suggested as we got in the car and started driving to meet up with our little Chicago family.

“Why don’t we ask Jonny and Ky to come with us after lunch?” He suggested, looking over at me for a moment with a grin.

“Are you sure?” I asked, grinning back a little bit. He took my hand in his and kissed them, smiling back.

“As sure as I was the day I put that ring on your finger….and every day from the moment I met you.” He said, pulling up to the restaurant.

“Well shit….let’s get a marriage license.” I said, laughing and leaning over, kissing him. Patrick, being the show off type, had us practically making out like teenagers in a few seconds. A valet tapped on the window, breaking us apart and making me blush a little. Patrick just smiled and got out, handing his keys over and helping me out of the car as we headed inside to meet up with everyone. And, of course, tell them the news!
