Emma’s POV- December 2014
Max turned on the car as I put on my seatbelt. He looked at Filip who was sitting in the passenger seat and laughed.
“Am I going to have to put your seatbelt on for you?”
Filip laughed and sat up. He put his seatbelt on and let out a yawn.
Filip and I had boarded a flight a few hours after his game. Filip slept the entire way, where as I kept myself busy with a book I had been meaning to read. He had a bad game as well, so he was a little moody. Max was going to pick us up since he had said he could do it. Max went home the 26th because he promised his parents he’d be home a little longer than I would. We got to LAX at 5am Los Angeles time/7am Nashville time.
Max began driving and looked at Filip who asked him how long of a drive it was.
“About an hour”
Filip nodded and leaned back against his seat. He was exhausted, and he was trying to keep awake. He was not succeeded one bit.
Max turned on the heater and let out a deep breath.
“It’s pretty chilly here at the moment, which never happens”
Max glanced at me from the mirror and smiled.
“Emma, Filip is losing the battle with sleep”
Filip sat up a bit and shook his head.
“I am not”
Max hummed and laughed as Filip took a gulp of Max’s coffee.
“That’s so gross”
Max laughed and took a gulp. He offered me some and I took a sip of it. The coffee was black.
“I needed to wake up somehow”
I laughed and handed him back the coffee. He took a sip of it and let out a deep breath.
“I think we will make it with enough time to see your brothers”
“What time is their practice?” I asked.
“7am”
I looked at the time and saw it was 5:20 AM.
“Are you two hungry?”
Filip shook his head.
“It’s too early for me to eat” I told Max.
Max nodded and Filip let out a deep breath. He leaned back and closed his eyes.
“Did Jess email you Emma?”
I nodded and frowned. Jess and 3 of my friends were studying abroad
“Yes, they’re not coming back until after we’re gone” I said.
“I would ditch us to go to London as well”
I laughed and nodded agreeing with him.
“They must be freezing” I said.
He laughed and nodded.
“Yea, for sure. Those 4 never did good with cold weather”
I nodded and he glanced at Filip.
“Your mom has been telling Winnie you’re coming today”
I frowned and he laughed.
“I was going to bring him, but I figured he’d meet his competition when you got home”
I laughed and nodded.
“Filip is asleep”
“He’s tired, he had a rough game” I told Max.
Max nodded and made a face.
“Yes he did”
He continued driving and I laughed as he mouthed the lyrics to the song playing on the radio.
“There was an accident here yesterday, a whole family died”
“That’s so sad” I said.
He nodded and slowed down.
My phone vibrated and I saw Andy had texted me asking how far we were from home. I told him about 5 minutes and gently squeezed Filip’s shoulder. Filip let out a deep breath as he leaned against my hand.
“We’re almost there” I told him.
He nodded and gave my hand a squeeze.
“Give one of them a call, so they could open the gate”
I nodded and let go of Filip’s hand and dialed Andy’s number.
“Hello?”
“Hey, can you open the gate?” I asked.
“Yea, see you in a bit”
I thanked him and hung up. Max pulled up infront of the house and the gate began opening.
“Your house is huge”
Max laughed as Filip sat up a bit. Max pulled the car up and I got out of the car. Filip followed slowly, but by the time he was out Josh and Andy had already trapped me in a hug.
“I missed you guys too” I said hugging both of them.
“We were literally about to leave”
I nodded and pulled away.
“Yea, Max told me you have practice at 7” I said.
Andy nodded.
“Hi girlies” I said hugging my two youngest cousins.
“It’s good to have you back Emma”
They pulled away and I saw Josh was talking to Filip.
“You’re back”
I turned around and smiled at my dad. He pulled me into a tight hug and picked me up.
“Filip how was the flight?”
Filip laughed.
“I slept the whole way”
My dad nodded and let go of me. He pulled Filip into a tight hug and chuckled.
“You must be exhausted, both of you. Head on to Emma’s room and take a nap. Boys get the suitcases inside before you go”
Josh nodded and Andy frowned a bit.
“You won’t be late to practice, come on now”
They got the suitcases and walked inside.
“Morning Uncle Isaac”
“Morning ladies, Thank you for picking them up Max”
Max nodded and handed my dad his keys.
“I’m going to bed again. Peace out”
He left and I turned to my cousins who were looking at Filip.
“You look beat”
Filip laughed and nodded.
“I feel that way”
Josh walked out and gave me a smile.
“I’ll see you guys later” I said.
They nodded and I hugged them. They patted Filip in the back and I followed Filip inside.
“Do you want to shower before you take a nap?” I asked Filip as I shifted him to walk up the stairs.
“Your house is huge”
“I’ll give you a tour when you are more awake” I said.
He nodded and I led him to my room.
“That bed looks wonderful”
I smiled and nodded. I heard a light growl and I smiled.
“Winnie!” I said as my beagle ran to me.
I picked him up and kissed his forehead.
“I missed you” I cooed at it.
Filip took the time to get a pair of boxers and a shirt from his suitcase. I heard the shower start running and I looked up when my bedroom door opened. My mom gave me a smile.
“You greet your dog before your own mom”
I laughed and hugged her. Winnie went to the bathroom door and growled. He sat down and waited for Filip to come out.
“Filip showering?”
I nodded.
“Yea, he said he was feeling sore. A warm shower should help him” I said.
She nodded.
“I’ll rub his back when he gets out”
I nodded and she shooed Winnie out of the room. I picked up my hair and my mom patted my thigh.
“I’m going to make your dad breakfast”
I nodded.
“I’ll be back to rub Filip’s back though”
I nodded and she left the room. Filip came out a few minutes later drying his face.
“Your sister almost saw me naked”
I laughed and shook my head.
“Sorry, she never knocks” I said.
He nodded and sat on the bed.
“My mom is coming to rub your back in a bit” I said.
He nodded and turned to the doorway where Winnie was growling at him.
“Winnie” I scolded.
Filip’s phone began ringing and he looked at the screen. He answered the phone call and looked up at me.
“It’s Calle”
I nodded and went to go shower. He began talking in Swedish, but his voice was blocked out by Amelia’s voice.
“I need to do my make up, can I come in?”
“Yea come on in” I said as I continued showering.
“What are you doing today?”
“Being lazy” I told her.
“I saw your boyfriend partially naked”
I laughed.
“I know, he told me” I said.
“What a good looking boy”
I laughed and shook my head as I lathered my body with soap. I washed the soap off my body and reached for my shampoo as I heard Amelia hum as she put on her make up.
“What are you doing today?” I asked her.
“I have a meeting then a job brunch. We’re having a late gift exchange”
“That sounds fun” I said closing my eyes as I shampooed my hair.
“No it does not”
I laughed and shrugged.
“I should be back by 2 though, we should do something”
“Like what?” I asked as I stuck my head out to see her.
She was putting on mascara.
“I don’t know, I want to spend time with your cute boyfriend though”
I laughed and she looked at me.
“I love your eyebrow shape”
“Let them grow out then” I told her.
She made a face and shook her head. I stepped back and moved the curtain. I washed my hair our and I laughed when she sighed.
“Emma hurry up, I want a thick wing”
“Give me like 2 minutes” I said.
“Alright, I’ll put on my lipstick. Pink or nude?”
“The pink goes with the blouse” I said.
“It does, pink it is”
I heard the click of her boot hit the floor and I washed the shampoo from my hair. I put some leave on conditioner and shut the water off. I dried my arms and chest a bit before I twisted my hair up in a towel and reached for my towel wrap. I wrapped it around myself and moved the curtain. Amelia handed me her eyeliner and I got out of the bathtub.
“I hate that you hardly put on make up yourself but you can do that type of wing”
I laughed and did a wing on one eye. I blew on it and tapped her shoulde letting her know to see if it was ok. She looked at the mirror and nodded. I did the other eye and blew on it.
“There” I said.
She looked at herself in the mirror and nodded.
“Thank you!”
I nodded and she hugged me.
“I’ll see you later”
I nodded and she pulled away. She kissed my cheeks and I made a face when she grinned.
“Love you”
I hummed and she left. I closed the door and unwrapped the towel from my body. I dried up my body and slipped on my underwear. I put on a Tshirt and a pair of shorts. I dried my hair a bit and when I came out of the shower my mom was sitting on the bed lightly rubbing Filip’s back.
“He’s asleep”
“Did you rub his back?” I asked as I dried my hair.
She nodded.
“Yes, I stayed with him because Winnie refuses to leave.”
I looked at my dog that was curled up next to Filip’s thigh. When I sat on the bed Winnie stood up and made his way over to me. I scratched his ears and smiled down at him.
“When I came back into the room Filip was scratching Winnie’s ear”
“That is strange” I said.
Winnie didn’t get along with men, my mom says he was protective of me.
“I wonder what Filip did to gain his trust”
I looked at Filip who was fast asleep with a tshirt on.
“He usually sleeps in just boxers” I noted.
My mom nodded and looked at me.
”Honey, you are a lucky girl”
I felt my cheeks heat up and I laughed.
“Mom, you did not just say that” I said.
She smiled.
“He’s like a perfect 10”
I smiled and shook my head.
“And Winnie likes him”
I looked at my dog and grabbed his face.
“Do you like Filip?” I asked him.
He tried to lick my face and I smiled.
“I need to go get something done but I’ll be back in an hour or two. You two shouldn’t even be awake by then, but when you wake up I’ll make you guys brunch”
I nodded and she kissed my cheek. She picked Winnie up and smiled.
“No take a nap”
I laughed and she left the room. She opened the door and locked it.
“Olivia might come in, so better safe than sorry”
I nodded and she closed the door. I let out a deep breath and lied down on my back. I shifted on my side and looked at Filip who was fast asleep. I closed my eyes and sleep came really fast.
