Fifty Three
Emma’s POV- December 2015
I took a bite of my icecream and looked at Angie.
“So I sent my gradschool apps” I said making her smile.
“Nice, what’d Filip think?”
“I haven’t told him” I said.
She raised an eyebrow and I sighed.
“Half of them are in the West Coast” I said.
“So? If he really loves you he’d be willing to do long distance”
I nodded.
“I know he loves me, and he tells me how proud he is of me. I want him around though” I said making her laugh.
“Well then stay in Nashville”
“I want to, but if I get into Stanford” I said.
She laughed.
“Girl, he has to realize that Stanford has the best program for what you want to study”
“He does, but I haven’t told him I applied there” I said.
“Has he brought it up?”
I shook my head.
“I didn’t see him at all last week. I had a sorority thing so I couldn’t exactly bail on that” I said.
She nodded.
“You just bailed on your boyfriend”
I made a face and nodded.
“Basically, we facetimed but it’s not the same. I miss his seeing stupid face and touching him” I said making her laugh.
“Oh Emma, you have it bad”
I laughed and nodded. I was busy with school and he was busy with hockey.
“So are your parents going to meet Roman?” I asked.
She laughed.
“They met him briefly after the game they met Filip at”
I nodded and she smiled.
“Mom was like who’s that cutie?”
“Of course she was” I said as she nodded.
She let out a sigh and played with the ends of her hair.
“How are things with him and you?” I asked as I ate a cherry.
She moved a bit and shrugged.
“Well? I mean we are boyfriend and girlfriend but we’re so lazy”
I laughed.
“He’s always so tired, and so am I. We just enjoy our time together”
“That’s so cute” I said making her smile.
She then sat up and waved her hand.
“What about you and Fil? Have you guys spent time with each other?”
I nodded.
“He took me to dinner before his roadtrip. Besides that I havent seen him” I said.
She smiled.
“Why are we talking with each other when we can invite our boyfriends over?”
I laughed and she pulled her phone out.
“Are you going to the family skate?”
I nodded.
“You?” I asked.
She nodded and her phone vibrated.
“They’re on their way”
I laughed and finished my icecream. She put the remainder of the icecream in her dog’s bowl letting him eat it. We went to the living room and just as we were settling on a movie the front door opened.
“You’re such a lazy dog, you’re supposed to protect” I told Angie’s lazy dog.
I looked up when I heard Filip’s laugh. He offered me a smile but made his way over to Angie.
“I’m to lazy to stand up! Give me a hug though!”
Filip laughed and leaned down to hug her. He plopped down next to me and I gave him a smile.
“Hey”
“Hi” I said as he pecked my lips.
He pulled me closer to him. I cuddled up to his side and pressed my nose against his side as he put his arm around me.
“What’d you do all day?”
I pulled away and looked up at him. He took the time to pecks my lips and fix the strands of hair that were on my face.
“School work, I finished my grad school apps” I said.
He nodded and smiled.
“That’s great! I’m sure you will get in to all of them”
I laughed and shrugged.
“Give yourself more faith, you’re smart. Any school would be lucky to have you”
I nodded and he pecked my lips.
“Do I have your skates? Or do you have them at your apartment?”
I shrugged and he laughed.
“We need to find them”
I nodded and looked at his face as I tried to remember where I put them.
“They’re probably here actually” I said.
He moved and nudged Angie.
“Are Emma’s skates here?”
Angie looked at him.
“I think they are, are they in the box you sent from Sweden? If yes they’re in the garage”
Filip stood up and I followed him to the garage. He turned on the light and opened the box.
“The good thing is we did not send food. It’s december and the box hasn’t been touched since August”
I laughed and he pulled out my skates from the box. He handed them to me and I looked at the skates.
“What’s exactly going on for New Years?”
“Uhhh from what I know it’s going to be a party” I told him.
He hummed and nodded.
“Your teammates are welcomed to come, but some of the Star players will be there as well” I said as he made a face.
“I figured, your sister is dating Jamie Benn”
I nodded and he smiled.
“I can’t get that drunk because I’m traveling New Years afternoon”
He frowned and I laughed.
“When are you getting home?”
“Saturday night” I told him making him nod.
“Same, you can come to my place or I can come here?”
I smiled.
“I’ll drop by to yours” I said.
He smiled and hugged me.
“Great! My beautiful girlfriend will be waiting for me when I get home”
He kissed me and smiled.
“I love you”
I gave him a smile as he hugged me tighter.
“I love you too” I told him.
He grinned and pulled me into a kiss.
“Let’s go?”
I laughed and nodded. His parents were flying in tomorrow, and I would have to pick them up from the airport. Filip had a meeting tomorrow and we would meet up with him before his game. I didn’t mind, but Filip wanted to take advantage of the privacy we were about to not have.
