The Final Goal

Chapter 10

Chapter 10-

Hearing her blaring alarm clock, Skylar jolted awake and sat up in her bed. Glancing at the time she sighed. The Penguins were playing the Dallas Stars tonight and she couldn't help but feel a bit anxious for Fleury. Skylar jumped out of bed and stretched, satisfied when she heard her back crack. She wandered over to her window and looked out. The air was getting crisper now as December was on its way; Skylar could almost feel the snow that was bound to come at some point. She turned back around and hunted through her closet for some decent clothes. Her Penguins shirts needed washed so she settled for a black shirt and a pair of dark blue ripped jeans. Running to the bathroom, Skylar slipped into the shower and sighed feeling the warm water rush over her welcoming body. As usual her phone was sitting on the counter, blasting Halsey's latest songs. When she finally finished, the mirror was covered in a layer of condensation and Skylar had to wipe her hand across to see. After pulling on her clothes, Skylar applied some makeup. She actually had time today, so instead of rushing she applied some more eye shadow than she normally would, a bright gold all over color with sparkly dark brown in the crease, and made sure her sparkly black eyeliner was spot on. Walking downstairs, she saw Patric had already left for work. Turning on the TV, Skylar flipped through the channels trying to find something interesting. After five minutes, she sighed. Nothing interesting had caught her eye, so she put on an old Arrow episode that she had recorded last Wednesday. Watching her show, Skylar leaned back into the couch and relaxed. After the show, Skylar ran back upstairs to look at her drawing supplies. She had a feeling she was running low on her supplies and wanted to check before she bought anything. Seeing she had few pencils left, a full sketch pad of drawings, and a whole lot of time on her hands, she decided now would be a great time to head to the store. There was a cute little drawing store a few blocks away from Patric's house, so she didn't think twice about walking by herself. Skylar made it to the store and hurried inside. Looking around she spotted what she had come for. Faber Castell polychromos were sitting in a glass cabinet right behind the cashier. Walking up to the register, Skylar smiled. "Hi! Can I have a set of those Faber Castell's please?" she asked, motioning towards the glass case. "Of course, young lady!" the cashier said, unlocking the case and setting the pencil set on the counter. "That'll be $200 please!" he said, causing Skylar to sigh. She had almost forgotten how expensive these pencils are. Almost reluctantly, Skylar handed over her credit card. "And here's your receipt! You have a lovely day, miss!" the cashier said, smiling. "Thanks, you too!" Skylar said, leaving the store. She started the walk home, but stopped. Skylar turned around to see if anyone was behind her, but she was alone on the street. Shrugging her shoulders she turned back around and kept walking, but was unable to shake the uneasy feeling that someone was watching her.

The day passed by slowly, but soon enough Skylar found herself back at the arena, reading to cheer on the Penguins. She was seated in what has become her usual spot, the seat directly behind the goal. Skylar hadn't stopped at the locker room before the game because she was still wary about being around Downie. She was surprised Fleury was able to handle himself around him. The two teams made their way onto the ice, and Skylar smiled when Fleury skated his way over to his crease. Their eyes met for a moment and she smiled. He subtly waved to her, a cheeky grin on his face. Fleury turned back to the front, ready for the game to start. A few minutes in, Dallas had the puck. Number 91 was closing in on the goal and Skylar sighed, seeing it go in. She looked over to the group of celebrating Dallas players to see a young, attractive man, maybe 22 or 23, with a huge smile on his face. 'Guess he's the one that scored,' Skylar thought to herself, wishing the Penguins had scored instead. Time passed by quickly, with Skylar getting increasingly antsy as time wore on. She had completely forgotten about Downie and was only focusing on the fact that the Penguins were still down 2-1 and time was running out. There were 2 minutes left in the third period and Skylar's heart rate sped up as she saw Fleury get pulled. The second he exited the ice, the puck was sent flying down towards the Penguins goal. She cringed, almost shutting her eyes, but sighed with relief when the puck missed the goal by a hair. Letang took the puck back up, and passed it around. The puck eventually got to Malkin who shot it and somehow managed to score. From the opposite end of the ice, Skylar couldn't see the goal at all but still jumped with joy as it went in. Time had expired, shifting the game into overtime. Skylar's stomach twisted with anticipation and worry, stressing about the extra hockey she was about to witness. The second the overtime hockey started, the Penguins were on fire. Shots were fired rapidly by the players and one shot found its way into the net. Jumping from her seat, Skylar screamed in happiness. Collecting her things, she headed to the locker room. She didn't care if Downie would be there or not, Skylar had to congratulate Fleury. Running in she bear hugged Fleury, gripping him tightly like she would never hold him close ever again. "You were amazing, Fleury. I'm so proud of you," she said, kissing his cheek. Fleury smiled, his arms wrapped around her and said, "Thank you, but it helped having you here to cheer me on". Skylar could feel Downie's presence in the back of the room, but she completely ignored it. Instead, she encouraged Fleury to change while she waited outside. The media was also outside, waiting for their chance with the players. Skylar tried to ignore the comments, but couldn't help but stiffen when they mentioned Downie's name. She looked up to see him exit the locker room. They made eye contact briefly and Skylar gave him a cold stare, watching him slowly make his way towards the reporters. Fleury made his way out with Patric and she smiled. "Should we go out to celebrate? Maybe get some dinner?" Skylar asked, sounding hopeful. Fleury chuckled and knowing she had to be starving, agreed. They left the arena, and the three ate dinner at a lovely restaurant not far from Patric's house. As they were getting ready to leave, Fleury stopped Skylar. "Would you like to stay over at my house tonight?" he asked, nervously shifting his eyes to the floor. "Of course!" Skylar said, grabbing Fleury's hand. "Hey Patric? I'll see you tomorrow okay?" she said, hugging him. "Okay, Skylar. Be careful. Don't have too much fun," he said, dead serious. Skylar's cheeks turned a slight shade of pink. "Whatever, Patric. Good night!" She called over her shoulder, already walking towards the door. Hand in hand with Fleury, Skylar felt energized. She was surprised Fleury had invited her over, but was happy nonetheless. They made their way to Fleury's care and drove off, silent on the way to Fleury's house. When they got in, Skylar all but dragged Fleury inside. Her lips slammed onto his and he groaned, sending a wave of heat to her stomach. Fleury tugged her hand, pulling her up the stairs and down a long hallway to his bedroom. Opening the door, she could barely look around as she was dragged to the bed. Falling onto the soft sheets, Skylar looked up at Fleury. He had shed his jacket somewhere on the way up the stairs and was now taking off his shirt. The second the material left his body, Skylar gasped. She instantly pulled Fleury down on top of her and ran her fingers over his chest. Leaning her head up, she pressed her lips against his and slipped her tongue into his mouth. She craved his kiss, but still wasn't satisfied. Slipping off her shirt, she let the thin material drop to the floor. Skylar moved her hands to Fleury's jeans and swiftly unbuttoned them. "Wait, Skylar. Are you sure you're ready? Are you sure you want this?" Fleury asked, his warm brown eyes searching hers for a response. She nodded, eagerly. "Yes, Fleury. I want this. I'm ready," she said, reassuringly. Not letting him respond, Skylar finished undressing him and herself until they were both naked. She looked at him and smiled at his beauty. There was no one she would rather be with. Fleury paused for a second to pull out a condom and slip it on. No accidents would be created tonight. She lay back on the bed and pulling him back with her she positioned him on her just right. Once he was inside her, Skylar instantly relished in the feeling and sighed, softly saying his name. Soon it was over and Skylar lay next to Fleury, exhausted. "That was great," she mumbled, her words thick with exhaustion. "Yeah, it was," Fleury agreed, kissing her softly on the lips. "Good night, Fleury," she said softly, kissing him back. "Good night Skylar," he said, happy she was finally completely his. She wrapped her arms around him, cuddling him close to feel his warm body pressed against hers. Skylar's arms were draped across his shirtless body and she fell asleep with a smile, permanent on her face.

I felt so bad for not updating sooner, so I made this one longer! I know how it feels to wait forever for an author to update and it really sucks, but I hope you like this!! I wrote it at 1:30 AM so there might be a few mistakes... If so, I am terribly sorry. I watched the game against the Calgary and almost cried. Just to clear some things up- I don't know if you were wondering why Downie is in this at all since he got traded, but I actually started writing this in the summer I just never posted it. So do you actually like Fleury or do you guys just like the Penguins? Personally, I find Fleury attractive but that's just me :D thank you all for reading! Have a wonderful week :)
