Oh, Glory

All We Know Is Falling

So I set up the mic and Jeremy put on his guitar strap for his bass. Josh picked up his guitar and copied Jeremy while Zac sat down behind his drum set. We weren't really facing anything except the inside of the garage door, which wasn't that interesting.

Anyway, so Josh and Zac started up with the music to 'Emergency,' because we were trying to make a demo CD good enough and 'Emergency' seemed okay to us.

I closed my eyes.

"I think we have an emergency
I think we have an emergency
If you thought I'd leave, then you were wrong
Cause I won't stop holding on
So are you listening?
So are you watching me?
If you thought I'd leave, then you were wrong
Cause I won't stop holding on.
This is an emergency
So are you listening?
And I can't pretend that I don't see this
It's really not your fault
That no one cares to talk about it,
Talk about it

Cause I've seen love die
Way too many times
When it deserved to be alive
I've seen you cry
Way too many times
When you deserve to be alive, alive

So you give up every chance you get
Just to feel new again
I think we have an emergency
I think we have an emergency
And you do your best to show me love,
but you don't know what love is.
So are you listening?
So are you watching me?
Well I can't pretend that I don't see this
It's really not your fault
That no one cares to talk about it,
Talk about it

Cause I've seen love die
Way too many times
When it deserved to be alive
(When it deserved to be alive)
I've seen you cry
Way too many times
When you deserve to be alive, alive

These scars, they will not fade away
No one cares to talk about it, talk about it

Cause I've seen love die
Way too many times
When it deserved to be alive
(When it deserved to be alive)
I've seen you cry
Way too many times
When you deserve to be alive, alive."

I ended the song while Josh's guitar rang to silence. That was a practice round, of course, until the Farros' parents could get down here and record the sound on their video camera.

"Josh, could you get your mom now? I think we're good." I took a sip of water from a bottle and inwardly screamed for cheese. I haven't had cheese since before I'd started singing and I WANTED CHEESE!

Jeremy glanced over at me as if he knew what was going on in my head. Josh came running back down the steps to the garage and said, "She's not home - at Starbucks."

"Oh! Could you tell her to get me a soy, six-pump, extra-hot no-water chai?"

"Sure." Josh ran back up to apparently answer a phone he'd left on the counter.

Oooh, cheese probably would do it better but a chai from Starbucks would make me happy enough for now.
