Small Town Girl

*Chapter 10*

The next morning, I woke to my mom and Barry giggling like little school girls with a crush. He was holding her in his arms and they were watching Brent and I. I smiled at the sound of my mom giggling. I tried to roll over and re position myself so I could see them better but Brent groaned and pulled me back to him. That caused Barry and Mom to laugh again. I just smiled again and tried once more to roll over, this time having a bit more success. But once I was turned, Brent's grip tightened again. "Looks like he's already protective of you. Even in his sleep." They smiled at me again. "Yeah. And it looks like you made a new friend." She just nodded and laughed but then started to cough. A lot. I began to slap Brent's arm lightly, trying to get up. "Brent. Brent! Let me up!" He jolted awake and his grip loosened. I then bolted up and rushed to my mother's side where Barry was holding her and looking worried. "Brent, can you go get some water?" He bolted from the room and down to the kitchen. "Barry, can you move her to my bed? I'll be right back." I rushed down to her room and grabbed her breathing treatment. When I got back, Brent was already there with and anxious looking Eric beside him. I plugged in the nebulizer machine and put the mask on her face. We waited a for what felt like forever before she finally got her breathing under control again.

"Mommy? Are you okay?" She grabbed my hand and replied, "Yes, Baby. Thank you all." It was quiet for a minute before I asked, "Hey, where's Zach?" "Oh, he went to get stuff for breakfast." My mom answered. About that time there was a loud crash from downstairs. "I'm okay!" We heard from the kitchen. "Well there's Zach." The guys laughed. There was once again a loud crash from downstairs but this time a different voice called up to us. "Holy shit! I almost died! Just kidding, Guys! I'm okay!" We couldn't help but to laugh at Jimmy. We were so use to him being here that it was a comfort for us. "Okay. Barry, my dear? Could you help me down to the kitchen so I can make sure the house doesn't get burned down?" He smiled and nodded at her. "Oh and Lizzie, Sweetheart? As much as I'm loving the slight peep show your very handsome husband is giving me and I'm sure these sexy beasts beside me are enjoying the show you're giving them, could you maybe get dressed?" She winked and we laughed at how red the boys got. Then I looked at myself and it was my turn to blush. Barry began carrying Mama downstairs and a chuckling Eric followed, leaving Brent and I to ourselves. It was awkward for the few minutes that it took us to get dressed.

When we were both dressed, I cleared my throat a bit and began to talk. "I..um..Thank you. Ya know, for helping me with my mom." I glanced up at him shyly before looking back to the floor. He gently pulled my face up so I was meeting his eyes with my own. "Sweetheart, I will always be there when you need me. Besides, you're my wife, she's my mama too now." He said and I couldn't help but to smile. I hugged him and we stood there in silence for a moment before deciding to head downstairs. Brent, being a gentleman, let me go first. As we reached the doorway, I surprised us both when I turned around and kissed him. Before he could grasp what was happening, I had already turned and started down the stairs.
