Wake me up when September ends

Where am I? Sean are you here?

Chapter 6

My head was pounding. I kept my eyes closed. I could hear people talking around me.

“What about this one?” A guy said, I assumed he was talking about me.

“No! He’s alive!” Said another guy. “He’s in some sort of coma,” he said.

Coma! Oh god! How long have I been like this? It feels like it’s only been ten minutes. I can clearly remember everything that has happened to me. Except, how I got here. I can remember arriving and whom I was with and everything. I know who I am, but how did I get here?

I slowly opened my eyes and looked around. Men were packing up. I looked at my stomach and it was bandaged up. A guy looked at me.

“Medic! He’s awake!” He yelled. I looked around feeling very confused. The medic walked up to me.

“Ward?” He asked. I nodded.

“W-what’s happened? What year is it?” I asked sitting up.

“It’s 1945” he said helping me up.

“Jesus! Are you kidding me? What has happened? Please tell me,” I asked grasping my stomach.

He handed me a crutch for my leg because that was bandaged up too.

“Well we have won the war. The Germans have surrounded. Unfortunately we haven’t found Hitler. We’re going home kid!” He said.

I stared at him. I checked my pockets.

“Sean?” I said. I looked around. “Captain!?” I yelled. He looked around at me. “Sir, where is Sean? Sean Corpling” I asked.

“Oh, Mikey. You don’t know do you?” He said to me. I gawped at him. Oh no. Don’t say he…

“Sean has died,” those words went through me just like the bullet had, but this one hit my heart and made it bleed. He said it. He just said it. No! He can’t have! I held back my tears.

“H-how did he die?” I asked.

“In battle. German shot him in the heart. We couldn’t save him,” I broke down. I cried for him.

He said I was like his little brother. It was like he was my older brother! He saved me from dieing. He came over to me and risked his life to help me to live. Sean? Oh god no!

“I’m sorry Mikey.” Said the captain.

I nodded as tears leaked out of my eyes. Captain Christopher J. Hopkins took me back to the boat where we traveled back to England.
