I Must Be Crazy

We got to Pete’s neighborhood and there was the apartment complex. Wasn’t anything super fancy but I also didn’t need anything super expensive so with that I went in while Pete went through his window to change. I walked in spoke to the land lord and he set me up with the apartment that had just opened up. I paid the man 3 months in advance and went into my new apartment. This old man that just passed had the nicest furniture and fuck yes! There was a computer with a desk! I opened the computer and factory reset it then began to search for queen sized beds. Once I ordered (because I didn’t have straight cash Ajax is a very tidy dude and all my payments came on a card through wiring. So online shopping was a breeze! I paid a little extra to have them deliver it today! I then went to amazon and since I moved right in the city same day delivery was an option for the 20 outfits and pairs of shoes i needed. After that I ordered myself a new acoustic guitar and ordered that for regular shipping time which was still only 2 days because I lived in the big Apple of course!!
I heard a knock at my door. I stood up quietly and silently pulled my gun out then tiptoed to the door. When I looked through the Peephole I saw it was just petey!
I quickly unlocked it and let him in before quickly shutting it and locking it again
“You did the shopping without me?” Pete asked sadly
“Yes but it gives us more time to watch something on paper view and order a pizza!” I said smiling. Pete smiled
“Fair enough! Let’s do it!” Pete said so we ordered two medium pizzas 1 for him and 1 for me and each of us a 2 ltr soda. After 4 hours i heard a knock on my door. I grabbed my gun and looked again only to see my mattress and like a whole dolly of boxes were being held by 3 guys. Smiling I let them in
“Where’s it going ma’am?” He asked
“Back room where the bed room is. Clothes too! Thanks guys!” I said and sat back down
“Fast and efficient” petey said making me giggle
“Yeah that’s how I like it” I said and about 30 minutes later my canopy queen was set up.Now I had dark drapes around my bed and fresh new sheets pillows and blankets! I went to tip them men but they all stopped and stared at me
“What’s wrong?” I asked confused
“Sorry miss but business is busin-“ all the men had pulled out guns but were too slow and I shot them all in the head. They fell limp, blood spilling on the floor.
“Pete mop this up for me. I gotta get rid of these bodies” I said but Pete looked mortified
“Peter they were gonna kill me then take me back to Ajax! What was I supposed to do?” I asked crossing my arms
“Knock them out!! You didn’t have to kill them!” Pete said but I sighed
“Look I’m sorry but I’ve changed a lot and I’m at the point in my life where it’s do or die and if you can’t accept that well it sucks but...maybe you should just go” I said sadly. Pete sighed
“I mean...I guess I understand I just-“
“Have never taken a life I get it. I used to get paid to do it. Now I’m just doing it to stay alive” I said
“You’re immortal!” Pete said but I scoffed
“Yeah and if they get a hold of me I become another immortals slave for eternity so I do what I have to do so I don’t end up like that again!” I said picking up two bodies and slinging them over my shoulder
“You’re in a dog eat dog world. One day someone is gonna challenge you to a death match...are you gonna fold or are you gonna do what must be done?” I asked before walking out and sneaking through the back door to throw them in the dumpsters. I went back for the last one and saw Pete mopping up the blood. Once we were done I sighed
“Let’s go to a club!” I said smiling
“I’m only 18” Pete said with an annoyed look
“Then you’ll be old enough to get in and I can sneak you drinks in VIP come onnn we need a normal night and you know it!” I said but he looked at his feet
“It sounds like fun it does I just...I have a date with Mary Jane tonight” Pete said rubbing his arm
“The girl next door Mary Jane?” I asked with a raised brow
“Yeah I’ve liked her since middle school so.. I finally got her to say yes and I don’t wanna blow it” he said and I smiled
“Go on get out of here” I said ruffling his hair.
“Thanks Jess, here let me add my number just in case”
I grabbed my cell from my pouch and handed it to him. He quickly put in his digits and gave me my cell back
“Quick question tho” I said smiling nervously
“What’s up?” He asked
“Think you can swing me to the grocery store?” I asked
“Well my date is in an hour but I know just who to call” he said and ran out of my apartment with his cell. I arched a brow confused but when he came back 20 minutes later, he didn’t come back but.... I gasped
“He sent me THE Tony fucking Stark to baby sit me?!” I said annoyed and embarrassed
“As flattered as I am to see your excitement, I don’t babysit. However, Pete told me about your situation and should someone come after you-“
He stuck a glowing circle light like his to my chest just above my boobs
“Press that and it’ll take you to Stark Towers. Trust me when I say nobody is gonna get in there” he said smirking
“Okay but the girl Angel Dust.. who’s working for Ajax is like as strong as the hulk!” I said biting my lip
“Perfect then she definitely won’t get in. The more force she used the stronger the defense systems become. It reacts to strength and it’ll adapt to the strength being given. You’ll be fine. Now go grocery shopping, and go clubbing and oh,”
He handed me a black card
“Enjoy yourself tonight okay? You deserve it after all” he said smiling.
“Why would you give me a black card I mean you don’t know me at all” I said in surprise. Tony gave me a weak smile and a wink
“Well like I said The kid told me all about you. Your cancer, your abduction, the torture and..other things you don’t need to be reminded of and now being targeted. Seriously it’s on me you deserve it. I am an Avenger after all the only thing I’d like in return is if the world is on fire again we’ll need your help. Can you do that?” Tony asked. I quickly nodded
“Yes of course! I’d be happy to save the world with you! I mean not just you like the whole avengers I didn’t mean to make that sound weird I just-“
Tony put his hand up smirking
“Now I see why you and the kid are friends. You’re just as awkward” he said making me giggle
“I’m not usually this lame I swear I just... never met someone as cool as Tony Stark before” I said scratching my head
“Well now you have. Have a good one uh Jessica was it?” He asked
“Jessica Langston but feel free to call me Jess or Jax or my vigilante name Jinx. Either one is fine” I said smiling
“Jessica it is. See ya around but hopefully not too soon. Now I’ve got a dinner with my fiancé. Be safe” he said smiling
“I need to get me one of those some day” I said smirking
“Eh it’s alright. Lots of expectations and money but worth the support and cuddles.. and sex” Tony said smirking and I laughed
“Believe it or not haven’t got there yet” I said making his eyes go wide
“What why? You’re a beautiful girl” Tony said as I grabbed my jacket and my keys
“Welllll I guess you could say I’m very old fashioned maybe I’m not ready or maybe Ajax traumatized me but I’m not a big fan of one night stands or wrecking homes but I mean I focused so much time on singing I didn’t give anyone a chance. Then the cancer and the abduction and slavery for a year so I mean it was crazy but maybe once my friend DeadPool kills Ajax I think I’ll be able to open myself up to that” I said
“Well watch out for that DeadPool guy. I’ve heard he’s a nut job” Tony said
~*kill tony! How dare he speak like that about our friend!!~*
“Shut the fuck up!” I mumbled but of course Iron Man has iron hearing
“Excuse me?” He said looking down at me as I locked my door.
“Oh I’m sorry I uh...I’ve developed a split personality after my imprisonment. She uh she’s quite crazy but I try and keep her locked up...she uh...she said I should kill you but I swear I’d never!” I said holding my hands up
“Yikes. That sucks. Yeah I’d keep her locked up but hey if you ever do wanna start dating I could hook you up with my buddy Captain America” he said as we reached the elevator. I busted out laughing and he looked at me quizzically.
“I’m sorry he’s a very handsome guy but.. he’s too good for me” I said pressing the G button.
“You’d be surprised. Give me a call if you need anything” he said handing me his card. It was like a credit card but it had his iron man mask on it and on the back it said “Tony ‘Iron Man’ Stark” with his number and address.
“Thank you so much for the help Tony” I said and as we reached the doors
“You don’t need to be walking around either so you can use one of my many vehicles I have but you strike me as someone who likes big toys so I brought you a Jeep Renegade” he said tossing me the keys
“You’re a true hero” I said trying not to cry
“No just a good person. Have a good one Jessica” he said waving before getting into his Tesla and driving off. I sighed happily then started the Jeep.
“To the Walmart!” I said happily and drove off.
