Devil with Angel Eyes

Your rock 'n roll Joan of Arc. The queen of broken hearts

“I’ve got to pee!” I announce as I get up from Danny’s lap hours later. “I think Jose is getting to me.”

“Are you sure you want to open the flood gates?” Danny laughs, causing a chuckle to escape my lips.

“I’m sure.” I assure him with a smile. “Besides I’m leaving soon anyway. I’ve got an early flight tomorrow.” He just simply nods his head before going back to a conversation with my dad and Colson.

I do my business and as I’m washing my hands, I hear the bathroom doors open. Then the two girls in the bathroom gasp and let a flirtatious giggle. I turn around and see Douglas standing there.

“What do you want Booth?” I ask him as I turn off the water and head to the hand dryers.

“Is Dark in my Imagination about me?” He asks bypassing any other greeting.

“You followed me all the way to the girls’ bathroom to ask that?” A smirk appears on my lips as I dry my hands. “Couldn’t ask me in the group? Or did you not want your girlfriend to hear the response?” I turn to him, crossing my arms across my chest.

“Just answer the question, Lee.” He sighs. “Please?”

“It’s not directly about you.” I reply to him. “You heavily inspired it. I started writing the song when we were still dating. But it’s not completely about you.”

“I know you have a song about Ashley, do you have one that’s completely about me?” He asks. “I deserve to know, don’t I?”

“Taylor Swift never warned her exes about their songs.” I shrug. “But maybe you do have a right. And if you must know, the song is called Goodbye, For Now. It’s not bashing you or anything, if that’s what’s bugging you. I’m petty, not that petty.”

“You sure about that?” He scoffs. “You must think I’m stupid if you don’t know that I figured out why Danny’s here. And it’s not because you wanted to hang out with him. He’s been all over you since the red carpet and even more so when I’m around. Did you seriously think it was going to work?”

“It obviously did if you’re bringing it up to me.” I smirk. “Admit it, even when we were together, you were jealous of Danny; which is stupid by the way. Danny thinks so too.”

“You call him your future ex-husband, how should I feel?”

“I call Gunner my other half.” I remind him. “If you are going to be jealous of any man in my life, it really should be Gunner. Why aren’t you?”

“He’s different.”

“How so?” I question him. “Gunner was my first kiss and he took my virginity. He was my first real boyfriend. We were together for two years. We have a blood pact saying if we aren’t married by 40 we’ll marry each other. He’s still plays a huge role in my life. He’s my best friend. Danny is seriously just a friend. We never kissed, never fucked; we only goof around with the future ex-husband/wife. We’ve been doing that for almost a decade. Why are you more jealous of that than of a guy I’ve spent my whole entire life loving?” Douglas remains quiet.

“Doug, why did you bring Bel with you?” I ask him. “A couple days ago you were at my doorstep saying how much you still love me but here you are with your girlfriend; the girl you cheated on me with? Are you trying to make me jealous?”

“Don’t act like the victim, Nik.” He rolls his eyes. “You just admitted to doing the same.”

“Yea but Danny and I aren’t in a real relationship.” I point out. “Are you still seeing Bel?” He doesn’t look me in the eye. “Does she know about your trip to Nashville?” He shakes his head no. “More importantly, does she know what I meant to you? If I ever meant anything to you.”

“Nikkole, you meant the world to me and you know it.”

“If that was true, I would still be wearing an engagement ring right now.” I sigh. “Look, I’ve got to go. Nikki and I are heading down to Nashville to meet my new tour manager. Nikki finally settled on the guy.” I start to walk past him but Douglas stops me by grabbing onto my bicep.

“Bel and I aren’t together anymore.” He admits to me. “That’s why she doesn’t know about the trip to Nashville; she has no right to know. I only brought her here as a friend. Making you jealous wasn’t part of the plan. I had no plans on hurting you Nikkole. I was trying to be the bigger person.”

“That’s good to know.” I bite my lower lip. “Thanks for telling me. I’ve got to go.” I quickly leave the room and head back to the VIP section where everyone is lounging around. Danny is the first to notice me, a frown forming on his lips when he sees me.

“You okay, Lee?”

“Fine.” I force a smile on my lips as I quickly wipe a few tears from my eyes. “You are more than welcome to stay here. I’m going to call an uber and head back to my Dad’s place. I want to get some sleep tomorrow before I fly back to Nashville.”

“What changed while you were in the bathroom? Why are you suddenly leaving?” Danny asks, this question gets the attention of my Dad and Colson.

“Are you leaving you?” Colson questions. “Already? It’s not even 1 in the morning.”

“I’ve got an early flight.” I simply say. “I want to get some sleep.”

“Nik, Nikki is still here.” My Dad reminds me, with a chucke. “Are you seriously going to let a 60 year old man out party you?”

“He’s Nikki fucking Sixx, that man can out party the Devil.” I chuckle. “But seriously, I’m just going to head out. I’m tired.” Just as I say that Douglas comes back to the group and heads straight to Bel who’s talking to Iwan. I find myself sighing at the sight of him with his arm around her. This sigh isn’t lost to the three men in front of me.

“Should have known it was a Douglas thing.” Danny sighs. “What did he say to you Nik?”

“It’s not a Douglas thing.” I lie to them. “And if it was, it doesn’t matter what he said. He would have been just between the two of us.”

“You know you are attempting to lie to three people that know you better than you know yourself?” Colson smirks. “You know you’re bullshitting us, Nikkole.”

“It’s nothing, don’t worry your pretty little head about it.” I roll my eyes. “I’m heading out, good night.” I kiss all three of them on the cheek then I turn to my head. “I’ll call you when Nikki and I land in Nashville. And I’ll let you know how the meeting goes.”

“I love you Nikkole Athena.” He states in a serious tone. “You deserve the world. I hate you so heartbroken over a guy.” I just force a fake smile on my lips before heading out of the club as I send out for an uber driver. As I’m leaning up against the building, I feel a few tears trickling down my cheeks, most likely smearing the makeup I’m wearing with it.

“I’ve said it once, I’ll say it again; Doug is a fucking idiot.” A voice says beside me. I look to my right and see Colson standing there, hands in his pocket. “If he wasn’t my Terror Twin, I’d fucking kill him for hurting you.”

“Thanks Colson.” I faint smile dances on my lips as I wipe the tears away. “Why are you here? You have an after party inside.”

“You’re more important.” He smiles. He gets closer to me and pulls me into his side. “I wanted to make sure you make it to your Uber alive. Pretty girls like you are always getting snatched up by pervs.”

“I grew up in L.A, I can handle myself.” I tell him. “Go back inside, have fun. Don’t worry about me.”

“You’re my girl, I’ll always worry about you.” He smiles before placing a kiss on the top of my head. “Are you ever going to talk about what you and Doug talked about tonight?”

“It’s nothing to worry about.” I mutter. “Nothing at all…”
