“What’d she want now?”
I laid my head on his shoulder as he draped an arm around me, pulling me into his side. I had yet to meet his mom’s and he had yet to meet Gee and Ray. He’s met Ellie though; I made sure he met the number one lady in life. Annie is a close second.
“She wants to know about you actually.”
We both let out a sigh—neither of us were quite ready to admit to anyone and everyone that we had something going on. I mean both sets of our parents were gay, but we didn’t really know how they would take us being the same. Let alone Mikey, Frank, Gee and Ray thought I was madly in love with Annie—a girl.
I mean I know they’d be accepting of us, they’d all be hypocrites if they weren’t but what if they wanted grandkids? What if they didn’t want us to add to the torment we already deal with because of them?
I’d learned a lot about myself in the past three weeks of being with him. I told Mikey that there was more to just my Frank issue that I was staying.
“Hey, hey…you’re getting worked up, it’s not worth it. She has a right to know, as your best friend she does…but she also should respect if you’re not ready to tell her things.”
I turned to nuzzle his neck, placing a gentle kiss just above the collar of his shirt. He put both arms around me, kissing my forehead, my nose then finally making his way to my lips. I only broke away to smile at him—our first kiss.
We’ve pecked each other’s cheeks and necks and other various places of exposed skin but we hadn’t touched lip to lip till just now.
“Tuck, I, I guess we should make this official right? This, whatever it is between us?”
I looked into his eyes and smiled and gave a slight nod.
“So does that mean that you, Joel Adams are asking me to be your boyfriend?”
Before he could answer we heard a soft giggle. Glancing at the door I noticed five heads; Gee (who was holding Ellie to his chest), Ray, and two women I assumed were Joel’s moms. I was mortified, he let out a soft growl before they walked out.
“So this is where you’ve been escaping off too…how come you didn’t tell us you made a friend Joel?”
