Chapter 35
Valeria’s POV
(a month and 2 weeks later)
My injuries had healed up in the 6 weeks since I got out of hospital and I was walking around with only a bandage on my leg and arm while all the cuts had healed as well as my ribs though I had a bandage around them as a precaution.
Over the course of the last 6 weeks Matt and I had grown as close as I think we could get and there had been many secret... trysts. We had kept the secret of our being engaged though I think if everyone wasn’t so busy with the wedding stuff then they would have noticed Matt and I’s long absences and secret glances and touches but because of the wedding everyone was too busy to notice and that was just how I wanted it for now but as soon as the wedding was over and they were settled Matt and I planned to tell them and plan our own little wedding because after this circus I am not having a big wedding.
The day of the wedding though has arrived and I had woken everyone up early so that they could all get ready for the day ahead and get some food in them though I had to force feed Ari some food because she was trying to scramble around and make sure everything was ok, completely forgetting about herself so I sat her down and forced food down her throat which had the added upside of shutting her up.
When everyone was set we all headed for the church where the guys would be getting ready while us girls were getting ready in the cottage just down the road so that Ari could have the whole grand entrance thing.
In the main room Ari was sat on the chair in front of the vanity nervously chewing her lip as the professional hair stylist did her hair. Through the mirror she looked at me where I was sat on a seat staring at the wall and she asked
“Zacky will be here right?” I looked over at my older sister and saw the anxiety written on her face and realised that she was actually scared he wouldn’t turn up. Getting up from my seat I move and kneel at her side, she looks down at me and I take her hand in mine and smile at her
“honey he will be here, he wouldn’t dare leave you today he would be scared of you coming after him” Ari laughed lightly which morphed into a sigh
“I’m being silly aren’t I?” I nodded
“you are I mean anyone can see that you two are crazy about each other and he would never leave you for the simple fact he loves you so yeah it is a bit crazy” I grinned and Ari laughed and the stylist announced that she was finished; Mina, Kat and I had our hair and make-up done first (http://www.i-do.com.au/editorialpics/hairandmakeup/cheekmakeupandhair8.jpg) while Ari had hers as (http://www.bride.ca/wedding-ideas/images/blog/WeddingHair/Curly/LongCurly1.jpg). Ari thanked the woman who nodded and walked out of the room then she turned to me and breathed out a deep breath before saying
“ok now it’s time for my dress” I grinned, I had worked for a long time on the design and then she sent it off to some French designer who made it for her.
Walking over to the rail there I found the bag containing her dress and handed it to her. She thanked me and walked behind the screen where she got changed into it.
While she getting dressed Don and mom walked in and mom walked over to me and kissed me on both cheeks before saying joyously
“oh I can’t believe it’s time already, this is going to be such an occasion” I nodded and mom asked “where is she?” I pointed to the screen and mom walked behind it and I heard them talking.
Don came to me and hugged me before pulling away and he looked grave, I raised a brow and asked
“what’s going on?” Don sighed and looking towards the screen he took my arm and pulled me to the other side of the room and said in a quiet voice
“your father has escaped” my mouth fell open and I stuttered
“what?” Don nodded and I sighed in frustration and bit my thumb nail
“he got out this morning when we were all preoccupied with securing this place, it seems he hit the guard on the head with his breakfast tray and took out through one of the tunnels” I groaned and looking around I muttered
“where are my guns?” Don pulled his coat open and handed me a gun he had in there, I smiled up at him in thanks, he and I had gotten closer in the last 6 weeks as well.
Looking in the clip and making sure I had some bullets I then tucked it in the pocket of my robe and crossing my arms I stated
“you guys think he’ll come here” Don nodded and I grimaced “great I can see how this is going to go now, are there being extra guards placed around?”
“yes there is extra security and all are armed” I nodded and at that moment Ari walked out and said
“why are the guards armed? What’s going on?” she stood there stubbornly and folded her arms over her dress which was lovely (http://www.jasminebridal.com/img/283/bridal/124A.jpg) the veil being made of the same black lace as the bodice.
I looked at Don for help but he was looking at the floor with a pale face so I looked at Ari and told her
“Padre escaped” Ari gasped and started hyperventilating I rushed to her side as she spat out
“what- do- you- mean- he- escaped!? He- can’t- come- here!” I tried to calm her as I said
“it’s going to be fine Sorella, there are so many guards on this place that he can’t get in and if he does then he’s dead on sight” Ari gave me a withering look and I stepped back with my hand sup in a sign of surrender.
When she was calm she looked up at me and I saw tears in her eyes and I admonished
“no tears Ari you’ll ruin your make-up” Ari laughed and blanked fast to get rid of them. When she had she sighed and looked at Don
“he’s really out?” Don nodded and I added
“he may come here but he won’t get in Ari” she nodded and rising from her seat she said
“well the show must go on, get dressed Val and then they can tell everyone we’re done” I nodded and grabbing my dress bag I went behind the screen and changed while they talked on the other side.

Letting the dresses skirt fall into place I looked in the mirror to see if it was obvious it was there but the dress fell around it perfectly disguising it. Taking one last look at myself to make sure everything was as it should be I stepped out from behind the screen to see Ari, Madre and Don stood there. Ari grinned and took a deep breath before telling Don
“go tell the guys everything can start” Don nodded and flashed us all a smile before going off, he would be back though because he was walking Ari down the aisle.
Stood outside the large oak doors I was the last of the bridesmaids to go through with their partner who happened to be Matt in my instance and Ari was behind me trying to breathe properly. I chuckled and turned towards her whispering
“he’s there honey right at the front, I can see him” Ari nodded and clasped my hand in silent thanks before I turned around and Matt and I walked to the front.
There were many guests on either side of the aisle and when we reached the front I saw that Zacky’s mother, father and brother were on one side while Madre was sat with tears falling down her face already. I beamed at her and she gave a large smile back. Standing on my side beside Mina and Kat the music changed and everyone turned as one to face the back of the church where Ari would be entering accompanied by Don.
There were many intakes of breath as Ari came into view, everyone whispering about how lovely and happy she looked but I knew my sister and I knew that she wouldn’t hear any of these things because all of her attention would be focused on Zacky who was staring at her with his jaw hanging. I giggled and watched as Don handed Arianna off to Zacky who kissed her hand before turning to the minister who was beaming at them. The ceremony then started.
I was keeping my senses tuned to everything and making sure I was ready if anything happened because there was no way that I was gonna let my father walk in and ruin everything.
We made it to the exchanging of the rings, the minister called on the best man, Matt, to give him the rings and Matt patted his pockets for the box before remembering that he had them around his neck on a chain so he wouldn’t lose them. He gave everyone a sheepish smile and the crowd tittered as he gave them to the minister.
Just as the minister was about to give Zacky Ari’s ring the back doors were thrown open and a shot rang out before a voice called
“hi kids did you miss me?!”
