The First Cut is the Deepest

Chapter 2

The small smile that was on his face when he entered the room instantly disappeared when he saw me.

"You're William Harper?!" I gasped out as I awkwardly I picked up the lollipop from my lap. I didn't know what to do with the lollipop, so I just held it in my hand.

"Fuck! You're my roommate?!" he asked loudly as he walked into the room and shut the door behind him.

"If you're William Harper, then yes," I said, standing up and walking towards him. I held out my other hand for him to shake as I spoke up. "I'm Nicole Greene. Nice to meet-" I started, but he just ignored me as he walked past me. "Okay, never mind then..." I said quietly as I put my hand down and awkwardly patted my thigh instead.

"Of all people, I get the yankee. Just great! Just fucking great!" he yelled as he dragged his suitcases to the other bed and let it drop to the floor in a loud thud. I wanted to ask what he meant by the word yankee, but he spoke up again before I could ask. "Okay. Rules," he said and I just stared at him.

"What?" I finally managed to ask.

"Rules. If we're going to be roommates, then there has to be boundaries. Rule number one, you keep to yourself as I keep to myself. Rule number two, no going through each other's stuff. Rule number three, no invading each other's privacy. Rule number four, no touching each other. Rule number five, no talking to each other unless it is necessary. I will most likely add more rules," he explained. I couldn't even interrupt him as he continued with each rule as if he had already had them all planned out. This guy seemed totally different here than when he was on the plane. I nodded nonetheless. What else was I supposed to do?

"So I guess you are William Harper..." I muttered to myself. I walked back to my bed and sat on it, facing the kitchen, my back facing William. I wondered what to do next as I finished my lollipop.

What do I do now?

I thought. Then I thought I might as well finish unpacking my things. I grabbed my smaller bag that had all my bathroom essentials and stood up, facing the bathroom. I instantly turned back around though when I saw William not wearing a shirt.

Oh gosh. His body is amazing!

I thought as I felt myself blush.

"New rule," Will started. "Rule number six, no looking at each other when they are changing or going or coming from the shower," he said and I swear I could hear the glare in his voice. What was I supposed to say to that? "Got it?!" William said harshly. I nervously nodded.

Holy crap! There's a half naked man right behind me! What do I do?!

"Um, do you have a shirt on now? I have to get to the bathroom," I said awkwardly. I slowly started to turn around.

"Yeah," he said nonchalantly. I nodded again before walking past him with my bag in my hand, my head down and avoiding his eyes. I walked into the bathroom and shut and locked the door behind me.

Oh my gosh. My roommate is the hot guy from the plane. So much for saving myself the embarrassment of not having to see him again.

I thought as I ran my fingers through my bangs. I groaned quietly to myself. I tried to shake those thoughts from my head and instead started to put my things away in the bathroom. And as I was putting my things away, I couldn't help but admire the bathroom. It was a pretty big and nice bathroom for a dorm room. Then again, have you seen everything else at this place? This place was built for the rich kids.

The bathroom had double sinks with both the sinks and countertop being white marble, with the exception that the countertop had added gold swirls. The faucets were gold colored as well as all the other handles in the bathroom. And above both sinks were mirrors which both opened to be medicine cabinets. The sinks were to the left when you first entered the bathroom and to the right of the sinks was a white porcelain toilet. Next to the toilet was a square walk-in shower with clear glass walls and a door with matching gold colored handles and towel holder. And across from the sinks and toilet was a white porcelain tub that looked big enough for two people without it being cramped. It was a really nice bathroom, to be honest.

I was just about finished with putting my things away when I accidentally hit my wrist against the faucet.

"Fucking shit..." I cursed quietly. I mentally scolded myself for being so clumsy. It was about time I cleaned out my wrist though. I sighed as I removed the black wristband and bandages on my left wrist. I winced in pain as I quickly washed out the cut before applying pressure to stop the bleeding. I waited for it to clot again before applying a new bandage. I put the wristband back on my wrist and took a deep breath. "Stupid Jason..." I muttered to myself before shaking my head. I shouldn't have been thinking about that. I quickly washed out the sink when I saw a little bit of blood still left in it before leaving the bathroom, my empty bag in my hand. I left the bathroom and found the room empty. I shrugged it off and put my empty bags in the wardrobe. Right as I finished doing that, I heard the door click open. I looked up and saw William enter the room with three other people trailing behind him. "Uh," I started awkwardly.

"They're my mates," Will cut in. I nodded as I took a look at them all.

The guy standing closest to me was almost William's height, maybe a few inches shorter, standing at probably around 5'10-5'11. He had light brown hair and light blue eyes. He was cute enough in my book. The girl next to him was a bit shorter than him, maybe around 5'7. She had medium length blond hair with brown streaks in it. She was a pretty girl with big blue eyes. And the last person, a girl, was around 5'6 and had long rich, chocolate brown hair that went almost to her waist. She had dark blue eyes that didn't seem to quite fit her dark hair. In my opinion though, she was beautiful. I took a quick glance at William. He had a 6'0 frame, rich, dark brown hair, hazel eyes, and he was absolutely gorgeous. Of course they had to be friends. They were all pretty people. It just seemed like that they all just gravitated towards each other.

And as I stood across from them, I was starting to feel, well... to be honest, I was starting to feel a little plain and insignificant to them. I refrained from looking down at myself. I felt tiny with my 5'1 frame. I didn't think more of it though as I held out my hand to introduce myself.

"Oh, I'm sorry. I'm-" I started, but was quickly cut off when William spoke up.

"She's no one," he said harshly. I sent him a glare as I awkwardly dropped my hand.

"Don't mind him," the girl with the long brown hair said. "He's always like this when he's in a bad mood. I'm Annabella Harrison," she said as she held out her hand for me to shake. I shook her hand as she continued to speak. "That's my younger brother, James. And over there is Sara Kessler. And you are?" I shook each of their hands as I replied.

"I'm Nicole Greene. Nice to meet you," I said with a small smile as I dropped my hand.

"Nice to meet you as well," the three of them replied back. I saw William glare at me, but I ignored it as I sat on my bed, looking up at them curiously.

"So how long have you guys known William?" I asked politely.

"Ugh..." William started. "Don't call me William..." he muttered.

"Then what do I call you then?" I asked.

"He doesn't like to be called that," Annabella said with a small laugh.

"I prefer to go by Will," he said a little annoyed. I nodded as I spoke up again.

"Okay then. So how long have you guys known Will?"

"We've all known each other since we were kids," the blond girl, Sara, said.

"Oh cool," I said with a nod.

"So where did you come from? I assume you're not from around here," the other boy, James, asked me. I wasn't expecting his voice to be that deep.

"I'm from the United States. California, to be exact," I managed to say before we heard a loud, obnoxious knock on the door. I heard Will sigh loudly before he answered the door. I looked past everyone in question. Will opened the door and a tall boy with dark auburn hair down to his ears walked into the room as if he owned the place.

"About time," Will muttered under his breath. "We were waiting for you. Let's go already," Will said as I watched in curiosity. The boy that walked in wrapped his arm over Will's shoulder and I noticed that he was only about an inch shorter than Will, standing at 5'11. I noticed that he was also quite attractive.

"I'm sorry, mate. I had to get settled into my room," he said in a carefree voice. He didn't notice I was in the room until I cleared my throat. The boy focused his attention on me and when I made eye contact with him, I noticed that he had light brown eyes. "And who is this?" the boy said, his voice rising slightly with each word. He let go of Will and bent down in front of me, taking my right hand in his.

"Oh, please don't-" Will started, but he was cut off by the boy speaking.

"Hello, my name is Chris Jacobs," he said with a flirty smile. "And you are?" he asked as he brought my hand up to his mouth and placed a small kiss on it. I couldn't help but blush.

"Um... Hi. I'm Nicole. Nicole Greene," I replied awkwardly as I took my hand away from his. Before he could say anything else, Will cut in loudly.

"Damn it, Chris! You wanker! Don't do stuff like that!" Will chided him as he pulled him up by his sleeve.

"I was just saying hello," Chris defended himself.

"You have got to find a new way to say hello then. Now go wash your mouth before you catch something," Will said. Chris rolled his eyes in response as I glared at Will.

"What's your problem, mate? Why are you being such an arse?" Chris asked.

"Nicole is Will's roommate," James cut in. Chris' eyes widened in shock.

"No bloody way! You're not rooming with Annabella?" he asked in shock.

"No, and just because her last name starts with G, I get her," he said in distaste.

"Thanks. You make me feel so loved," I said sarcastically.

"I'll make you feel loved," Chris said with a grin before he winked at me.

"Uh..." I started. I didn't know what to say to that. Luckily, Annabella saved me from embarrassing myself.

"Oh, come off it, you guys," Annabella said as she stood by Will's side. I had a feeling that her and Will were dating.

"But that means you two lovebirds won't be rooming with each other this year!" Chris said as he walked behind Will and Annabella and wrapped his arms over both of their shoulders.

Bingo! I was right. Maybe that's why Will hates me so much. Plus, they do make the most attractive couple I've ever seen.

I thought as Will brushed Chris off of him.

"Well, it's about time to get going," Will said as he grabbed his jacket from his bed.

"Oh! Nicole, would you like to join us? We are all going to hang out before school starts tomorrow," Annabella asked me. I looked at Will who glared at me before I turned back to her.

"No, it's fine. I think I'm going to explore the school a bit to get a feel of my surroundings," I replied as I stood up from my bed and undid the ponytail my hair was still in. She nodded and they all left the room saying their goodbyes with Will giving me one last glare before shutting the door behind him.

Yup, I'm pretty sure he hates me because he couldn't room with his girlfriend.

I thought as I rolled my eyes at him. I grabbed my jacket from my bed along with my key card and cell phone before leaving the room. I put my jacket on as I closed the door behind me. I entered the hallway just in time to see the elevator close on Will and the rest of them. Chris eagerly waved at me, but before I could even wave back, I felt my phone vibrate and I fished it out from my pocket. From my peripheral vision, I saw the elevator doors close as I read the name flashing upon my cell phone's screen.

Jason

It read. I tightened my jaw before I ignored the call and made my way down the hall to the elevator.
