When Dreams Aren’t Dreams

Chapter 15

“Now you even speak like them” his brother scoffed “But that’s not why I came here… when you’re going to tell her?”
“Davi—”
“She will find out” his brother cut him off “You shouldn’t have involved her like this, she was in danger already, but now, now she’s dead. Anyway, Alex, you’re alone in this. I can’t help you anymore, even our father is looking for you, he will have you hanged when he finds you.” His brother stood up
“Farewell brother” he said
“Farewell” Alex replied
His brother smiled slightly at him and disappeared.

The bathroom’s door opened
“So, you don’t like me” Lynn said, her voice cold as ice
“Did you hear everything?”
“No, but I heard that”
He sighed “Lynn, is not that I— is just— never mind, just forget that I said that”
“oh, don’t worry that’s not what’s bothers me, what I want to know is when you’re going to tell me what and why I’m dead?”
She could notice that he grew tense and pale
“Well?” she asked
“Lynn I…” he sighed and standing up he headed towards the door
“Oh, not this time!” She thought running towards him.
He turned the door’s handle, but he felt a hand wrap on his own. Lynn pushed him away from the door. Damn! She was fast!
“Alexius!”
He flinched, she was mad!
“You need to stop running away from your problems, is a bad habit, now—“
“Lynn, I don’t know if you should know this, I—”
“That’s it!! I’m tired of this!!!, seriously, you never want to tell me anything. Alex you have to trust me! We’re in this together!”
He was going to speak, but she didn’t let him
“Hush!! I hate your silence! I still don’t know why we are running away and—”
“I told you already” he interrupted her
“What you told me is not enough!! And you have to do something about it because you can’t be running away forever; I’m not going to run away forever!!!”
Suddenly there was a bunch of gunshots.
“Damn those idiots!!!” she thought
“Bless those idiots!!” He thought
She felt herself being pulled to the floor. She was going to scream, but Alex covered her mouth
“Lynn, go to the bathroom don’t scream, and stay low” he said
She nodded and did as she was told. Shattered crystals, pieces of wood and pillow-feathers were flying everywhere. They reached the bathroom. Fortunately the wall there was thicker…no, wait!
“Alex?...” she called while he was opening the window
“What?”
“You’re stopping the bullets, right?”
“What?” he asked going through the window. Leaving her totally alone… “This is another of his bad habits” She thought
“I mean, when the weird dude shot my window you stopped the bullet, that’s why I thought my windows were bulletproof” she said taking his hand
“oh! That, yes, but I can’t hold them mush longer so hurry up!” he said helping her to pass through the window, but her feet got stuck.
“Alex I’m stuck!!” she shouted
“Sh*t” Alex cursed, he tried to get her out, but it was as if her pants suddenly became part of the window. They didn’t have mush time. His brother was right, his powers were weakening. He was having trouble holding back the bullets. His head ached and he was beyond his limit. The moment the bullets went trough the wall Alex ripped Lynn’s pants from the window. She fell on top of him.
“Come on we have to go” he stood up pulling her up with him. He turned around to leave, but when she was about to follow him she felt a sudden pain on her right side. She collapsed clutching her side. It hurt too mush. Alex turned around when he heard her collapse. She looked at her hand and her heart started to beat faster.
“I’m bleeding?” she managed to say
