Wreckage From the Past Haunts Me; Shakes Me to the Bone

“Mama!” Vicki called from her room. Poor baby girl is sick. I sighed and walked down the hall.

“What’s the matter baby?” I asked as I sat on the edge of her bed.

“My tummy hurts.” She said as she pointed to her stomach. I laughed and kissed her forehead. A secret: You can tell if a person has a temperature by how hot there head is on your lips. From what my mom told me your lips remain at one temperature and it’s easier to tell. She had a slight fever.

“I know sweetie. Cover you ears.” I said as she covered them tightly, “Jimmy bring me the Motrin.”

“Here you go babe.” He said as he walked in with a little cup full of the liquid death as I used to call it. Vicki saw it and looked at me before looking at her dad. She got up slowly making me and Jimmy laugh as she bolted out of the room. We heard her scream before Zacky came in with her in his arms.

“You need to take your medicine hun.” Zacky said as he set her in my arms. I held the cup up to her mouth. She turned her head and I shook mine.

“Go grab the syringe that we had to use when you went to the dentist Jimmy.” He nodded and got up. He came back a few minutes later and watched curiously as I sucked up the Motrin. I gave the cup to him and smiled. I put one of Vicki’s arms behind my body and the other down to her side. I put the tip of it in her mouth and squeezed the liquid into her mouth. She swallowed and started to cry. I sighed and rubbed her back. She clung to me as both boys nodded and walked out of the room leaving me alone with her. I laid down with her, just like Matt and my mom did for me when I was sick. She laid down on my chest. I was leaning against her headboard. She was breathing softly out of her mouth. I ran my hands through her hair and started to sing softly. She was asleep within seconds. I smiled and set her on her bed before walking down stairs and starting dinner. I started on the Shrimp Scampi first. The girls were bring the appetizers, except Lusty. She’s bring the things for the drinks.

“Baby when are you going to get ready?” Jimmy asked as he came down stairs.

“After I’m done with dinner.” I said as I put the noddles in the pot.

“I can finish the noddles.”

“I have to set the table and extend it.” I said smiling.

“Go do it then woman. Sitting around doing nothing. What do I pay you for?” Jimmy asked smirking. I shook my head and slapped him hard on the ass making him squeal.

“Well obviously you don’t pay me enough!” I said as I walked into the diningroom. I started to pull apart the table. It was only the immediate family attending. Which meant my dad, the Haners, the Bakers, the Sewards (we don’t get a long), Nikki’s dad and Mrs. Sullivan. I heard something from the kitchen and I knew Jimmy was up to something. I saw him out of the corner of my eye. I quickly put in the middle piece before I dodged him. I ran around the other side of the table. Jimmy laughed before he ran around the table. I ran into the kitchen making him shake his head before running after me. I laughed as he chased me all over the house. I ended up down the hall in our room with the door locked.

“Baby...baby please let me in. I swear I won’t get you back.” Jimmy said through the door, but I know him! He’s smirking right now.

“Did she lock you out?” I heard Zacky ask.

“Yeah man I can’t get in. My keys are inside.”

“Why did she lock you out in the first place?”

“Because she slapped my ass and now I’m getting her back.”

“Why did she slap you ass?”

“Because I asked her what I pay her for.”

“Oh ok. Good luck man.” Zacky said as I heard him walk away. Yes Zacky’s in my side for once! I got out my phone and text Zacky saying Thank you. I heard Vicki start to cry.

“Babe come on game over Vicki needs you.” I sighed and stepped out of the room and walked into Vicki’s room.

“Oh baby.” I said as I saw her in Tegan’s arms. Her hair was a mess and she was covered in sweat. She looked exhausted.

“She just threw up.” Tegan said as she handed her to me.

“I’m sorry I wasn’t in here. I got caught up with Jimmy.” I said sheepishly.

“It’s cool. She’s my niece. I need to help somehow.” She said as she laughed. I shook my head and watched her walk out. I looked towards her bed and realized that we were going to have to change her sheets.

“Jimmy!”

“What babe?” He asked as he walked into the room.

“Can you get her into a bath while I change her sheets?” I asked.

“Yeah.” He nodded as he took her. I got out her extra sheets and quickly changed the dirty ones. I took the sheets out to the washer and started a load. There was a knock on the door and I heard Zacky open it and greet someone. No one should be here yet.

“Hello Trista.” I heard Papa Gates say from the door.

“Hey Papa!” I said as I hugged him.

“Vicki’s sick?”

“Yeah.” I said with my head down. He patted my back before walking down the hall. I sighed and walked out to see that Suzy was talking to Tegan.

“What are you guys doing here so early?” I asked as I hugged her.

“Well Jimmy called earlier and asked how to get Vicki to stop throwing up and I know that we’re having the dinner here so I wanted to help out. That and you know Brian can’t take knowing that one of the kids are sick. You are all like our children and knowing that your children are sick just makes us worry.” She said with a laugh. I nodded and sighed.

“Hun how long have you been awake?”

“What time is it?” I asked. She laughed and nodded. I walked into the kitchen with her following me. I drained the noddles; let them cool and started cooking the shrimp.

“Oh Shrimp Scampi.” I laughed at her expression, “I’m going to go help Tegan set up the living room ok?”

“I’ll see you in a few.” I said smiling, “Suzy? Thank you for coming early and helping out.”

“You’re welcome sweetheart.” She said as she kissed my forehead. I smiled once more as she walked out of the kitchen. I got everything out to make a salad and quickly made it. I set it up to chill before I ran upstairs to see that Papa Gates had Vicki dressed. She was in her light pink summer dress. Her hair was brushed back into half ponytail. He was putting on her pink stripped sweater.

“You’re amazing!” I said as I noticed that she was calm.

“I had Syn as a kids and let me tell you. He lived up to his name.” He said laughing, “I gave her, her medicine. She’s had a bath. She’s dressed. Suzy is getting Aidyn ready. I sent Jimmy to go get ready and now I’m doing the same to you.”

“Ok. I’ll see you in a few! Thank you so much.” He just nodded and pushed me out of the room. I walked into my room and saw that the shower was going.

“Jimmy?”

“Yeah babe?” He asked from the steam.

“Can I take a shower with you?” I asked like a 5 year old. He laughed and opened the glass door. I stripped quickly and jumped in.

“Hey baby.” He said laughing.

“Ello!” I said. I grabbed my squishy thing and poured my soap on it and started washing, until I got to my back. Jimmy laughed and took it from me and ran it across the few places I couldn’t reach. I sighed in content when he wrapped his arms around me. He kissed my neck and rocked us back and forth slightly. I laughed and grabbed my shampoo.

“I’m done so I’m gonna get out ok?” Jimmy said as he kissed me. I nodded and washed my hair. I got out soon after and wrapped a towel around me. I took the blow dryer out plugged it in. I ran it threw my hair until it was dry enough and in a natural wave. I walked did my make up, which was just a little bit of brown eye shadow and eye liner with a bit of lip gloss. I walked into the bedroom and pulled out my black cheekie underwear and a black strapless bra. I slid them on and felt the fabric of my dress brush across my back. I looked back and laughed seeing Jimmy dancing with my dress. I held my hand out and he pouted before handing it to me. I slid it on and looked at myself.

“You look gorgeous.” He said as he wrapped his arms around my waist and fixed the halter tie. The beaded neck tie was twisted with the black fabric a little too much. I brushed my hand along the tight waist line and down the flowing waist.

“Thank you.” I said as I took in his appearance. He was wearing his black jeans and his Nancy shirt with his leather jacket and his fingerless gloves and broken hand cuffs.

“You look hot.” I said as I slipped on my purple high heels. I put in my purple and silver circle earrings and my purple three tear beaded bracelet.

“Ready?”

“Yes sir.” I said as I linked my arm with his. Tegan was talking with Jocie when we walked out. She was wearing her whitedress that had a golden trim around the bust and as the sleeves. She had on her gold High heels that were strapped neatly around her feet. I could see her playing with her locket necklace that Zacky gave her a few weeks ago. Her hair was like mine, down and wavy. Jocie was wearing a purple halter top that had a jewel on the piece that connected to the bust line with a short black skirt and black high heels. I could see that she had a purple earring in her upper ear and a purple bracelet. Her hair was up in a messy bun with a few piece hanging out around her face.

“Trista!” Tegan said as she saw me.

“Ello girls.” I said as I hugged both of them. Nearly everyone was here. Mr. and Mrs. Seward were quietly talking with Papa Gates. Mr. and Mrs. Baker were talking with Matt. Matty (Baker) was talking with Zacky and Jimmy.

“Nikki and Johnny should be here soon. Brian and Lusty called and said that they were trying to get here as fast as possible.” Jocie explained. I nodded and walked through the crowd and over to Papa Gates who was holding Aidyn. I smiled as he handed him to me. Suzy had dressed him in a blue plaid shirt and a pair of jeans. He looked so cute.

“Thank you Papa Gates.” I said as I kissed his cheek.

“Where were you?” Mrs. Seward asked.

“I was just getting ready.” I replied.

“How long?”

“Not very long. I’ve been up all day cooking and with a sick two year old. Surely you can understand me taking a few minutes to myself to take a shower?”

“That’s no excuse.” She said as she shook her head, “I did it while raising two kids.”

“You also knew you kids from the day they were born and they were both your kids. Vicki is my step-daughter and I missed out on nearly two months of my son’s life. I’m sorry that I don’t have my children’s personalities yet, but I’m trying.” I said before I walked into the kitchen where Suzy was stirring the shrimp.

“I told Jimmy to get out after he nearly burnt a towel.” She said as she point to the sink. I looked in and laughed at the sight of the charred fabric.

“Thank. I swear when he needs to cook he never can, but when he’s bored he’s amazing.” I said laughing.

“Oh I know. He would show up at out hour at 6 in the morning and cook for us and then just leave.” Suzy added on. Once dinner was done we put everything in bowls and took everything into the diningroom. Johnny, Nikki, her dad were here now making me smile. The only people who were missing was my Dad, lusty, and Syn.

“We should wait for Syn and Lusty.” Matt said as he put a hand on my shoulder.

“Dad’s not coming?” I asked,

“When does he ever?” Matt said as he wrapped an arm around me.

“It was expected.” I said with a shrug. Aidyn shifted in my arms confusing me for a minute before I realized that Jimmy was holding a sleeping Vicki to his chest. I walked over to him making him stop his conversation with Johnny.

“What were you talking about that think you’re going to get in trouble about?” I asked.

“Sex.” Johnny answered at the same time Jimmy answered “Music.” Jimmy glared at Johnny before smacking him on the back of the head. I raised my eyebrow at Johnny and he smiled.

“He was just saying how he never gets any, but knows that you want to wait because of the kids and you’re just not ready.” Johnny said.

“He’s a patient man. I’m sorry baby.” I said as I kissed him.

“It’s ok. Like Johnny said I know you want to wait.” He whispered slightly. I smiled and kissed his cheek.

“You know it’s not nice to talk about your sex lives at a dinner party.” James, Zacky’s dad said as he walked over. I laughed and gave him a hug.

“What sex life? I’ve been here the whole time we’re been off and I’ve never heard one noise.” Zacky said as he wrapped an arm around my shoulders.

“I have kids what’s your excuse?” I asked/stated as I looked at him.

“I was sick.”

“Ok that takes care of two days out of 7. Anything else?” He started to say something before he just stopped.

“Aw she made you speechless.” Maria, Zacky’s mom, said ash she laughed at her son. We heard the motor of a motorcycle signaling that Syn and Lusty were here.

“Finally Syn and Lusty are here!” Johnny yelled making everyone laugh except his mom.

“Why can’t we all call them by their real names?” She asked.

“Because that’s no fun!” Johnny exclaims like it’s the most obvious thing in the world.

“Because and Syn and Lust go together.” Matt Baker said as he smiled.

“About Damn time!” Papa Gates said as he smacked Syn over the back of the head.

“I’m sorry. I couldn’t get through traffic. There’s cops everywhere.” Syn explained.

“Let’s eat!” Nikki’s dad exclaimed making all of us laugh, but nod.

“Before we start dessert I want to make a toast. For one I want to thank Jimmy and Trista for letting us use their home.” Papa Gates said as he stood up and tipped his glass towards us. We both just smiled in return, both having sleeping children in out laps, except I have Vicki and Jimmy had Aidyn.

“Secondly. I want to say that this is the one time I look forward to a year. Being here with all of our family, whether is actually family or not. I want to say congratulation to the girls on getting their second album out and going on a world wide tour. To the guys congratulation on getting the most wonderful girls anyone can dream about. Matt you have two wonderful little sisters and a wonderful fiancé. I remember seeing you so down until you met her. She livens up your life and from what Trista says your sex life is great!” everyone laughed and Matt glared at me before shaking his head. This is what Papa Gates did. He reminisced on the past and brought out our worst times and made joke about it. Normally involving sex.

“I’ll get you back for that.” He said laughing.

“You still have to get her back for throwing you in the pool.” Johnny said. I grabbed my dinner roll and threw it at him. He got hit in the head with it.

“Thank you Johnny.” Matt said smiling.

“Kids! Anyways! Brian you used to go through girls left and right and now you’ve stayed with one for nearly 7 years. I guess that might give me a clue of why her name is Lusty though.” They both turned beat red and looked down, “Zacky you were always as bad as Syn, but you hit 16 and I knew there was something different. I knew you were dating Tegan. So thank you Tegan for being with him because he stopped screwing girls in my basement. Johnny...god you’re so short! You were always picked on. Hell you still are! But even you found a great girl. She’s taller then you, but she’s great.” He said as he laughed. Nikki laughed and kissed a pouting Johnny.

“Ahh Jimmy you always were a weird kid. You kept to your self, always polite which threw me off when I got a call asking if I could come bail you out, but you started dating Trista and turned your life around for the most part. Oh did you have some bad points though! Getting drunk and falling asleep on my stairs that were in front of the porch. I remember I found you passed out on the top my car one day. Well now you can fall asleep on your own cars! You have 6!” We all laughed at that memory of hearing Papa Gates scream out that big bird was asleep on his car.

“So a toast to this amazing family that now house their own homes to go to and don’t coming knocking on my door at three in the morning for food because they have the munchies. Not to mention any names...James.” Papa Gates said laughing, “You guys have come a long way so just keep going until there’s no where else to go. Oh and when you finally don’t go anywhere. Don’t come to my house! I have no room. Unless you all want to buy me a new home.” He said as he mumbled “hint hint” under his breath. We all laughed and clapped before Mrs Seward stood up.

“I’m not here to make a toast, but apologize. Trista...Tegan and Nikki I’m so sorry that I’ve taken my anger out on you all of these years. I knew your parents. Trista, Tegan I dated your father at one point in time back in high school, but your mom came a long and he broke up with me for her. Said he wanted to be available when she fell for a guy. I hated him and her for so long. Your mom was amazing though. I could see why he fell in love with her. She raised you right. Nikki your mom dated my brother and broke up with him. I hated her for so long, until I found out why and I just found out nearly a week ago. She broke up with him because he cheated, but I was so sure it was the other way around. So girls I’m so sorry that a feud has been going on with us for so long. It wasn’t needed.” She said as she sat down. I reached my hand out behind Johnny’s dad and grabbed her hand in mine.

“You’re forgiven if I’m forgiven for everything I’ve ever said against you.”

“You’re forgiven as well hun and your children are amazing.” I smiled and thanked her. We ate in peace for the rest of the night a huge weight lifted off our shoulders by the apology. There was a knock on the door and Jimmy got up and answered it. We could all hear them talking form the door way. I got up and walked over.

“What’s wrong officer?” I asked as I saw the familiar black uniform.

“Just making sure that everyone is ok in here. A convict escaped today and we were told to check around here and make sure there was no uninvited guest.”

“No sir. Everyone here is more then welcome in our home. Trust me we’ll let you know if there’s anything unusual here.”

‘Thank you Ma’am, Sir enjoy your night.” We thanked him and walked back to the table and explained everything. The rest of the night went smoothly. At around 9 everyone left after helping us clean up everything. Even tegan and Zacky left.

“Before we get changed let’s just go take a walk on the beach.” Jimmy suggested. I nodded and smiled. He put a light jacket on Aidyn and started to head out I pushed Vicki a little higher in my arms. I walked behind him and grabbed a hold of his free hand. He laughed and kissed my hand. Our walk on the beach was only brief since there was a convict out. The cops stopped us about 10 minutes into our walk. So our walk was only about 20 minutes. We got inside and I changed Vicki out of her dress and into Cat and the Hat nightgown. Jimmy walked out of Aidyn’s room and smiled at me.

“Out like a light.” He said as he laughed.

“That means he’ll be up in like two hours to eat.” I said as I laughed at the shock on Jimmy’s face. I walked down the hallway and into our room. Jimmy didn’t even change. He just collapsed on the bed. I smiled and changed into an Avenged Sevenfold shirt and a pair of white boy shorts with black strips. I pulled on a pair of black tube socks that had two white strips on the top. I looked over and saw Jimmy sleeping on the bed in his clothes. I laughed and walked over to the bed and began to undress him. I know what you’re thinking. God That’s so hot! Well it would be if he wasn’t asleep. I finally got his shirt off with a lot of trouble and covered up in the blankets. I covered his as well. He rolled over and laid his head on my shoulder which made me pout since no I actually have to sleep on my pillow and not him. I sighed and just wrapped my arms around his and fell asleep.
