It's Hard To Say I Miss You.

“Ah, finally!”, Dan burst out, realizing that the tour bus had started moving again, and that we’d reached shore, now making our way into downtown San Francisco.
“It was about time. I thought I was gonna get seasick”, Quinn complained, taking a sip out of his mineral bottled water.

As we were driving further and further into the city, it hit me how big it really was.
I had never really been outside of Europe before, so being in The US now, was mind blowing.
Peeking out of the bus’ window, watching all the yellow cabs driving by and seeing people mingling around in the streets were fascinating.
Even the trees were captivating!

I just sat there by the window, completely evolved by what was going on outside.
Everything was so different from what I was used to back in Norway, living in a small town with a low population.
I couldn’t stop staring at the scenery around me now and the city had caught my attention.

“Hey…”, Bert said, bumping gently into my shoulder.
“Hmm, what?”
I must’ve been staring out of the window by myself for several minutes, now noticing that we had already arrived at the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium where the guys were going to perform tonight.

“We’re here now, if you didn’t notice”, he said laughing.
“Oh. Oh, yeah. I see. Hey, is it okay if I could borrow your laptop?”, I asked, pointing at the one on the table.
“Yeah, sure. What for by the way?”
Bert sounded curious.

“I just want to record a video and send it back home just to let everyone know how I’m doing.”
“Oh, sure. Totally. Want any help?”
“No, it’s okay. But could you guys maybe sit next to me or something while I record? Because then the ones at home will know how you look like, I mean. My mom is hopeless when it comes to names, so mentioning your names won’t help. If you guys are on the video on the other hand, they’ll know who you are.”

“Ahh, smart”, Jepha commented from where he was sitting.
“Okay, let me see”, I mumbled, starting the laptop and launching the webcam.
“Hey, guys, come sit down! Lina’s makin´ a video to her people back home and she wants us to join. Come on!”, Bert yelled to Quinn and Dan.
“Yeah, comin´. Chill”, I heard Quinn’s voice say at the end of the bus.

As they got to the sofa group, getting ready to record, they sat down in the black leathered sofa where we all were sitting pretty squeezed.
“Okay, ready. I’m going to push the recording button now”, I said before the web camera started recording.
“Hi, everyone. I’m not going to mention you all because you know who you are.
I just wanted to let you know that I’m okay and doing just fine. I’m sitting here in a bus right now, a tour bus actually, with my, as you know, favorite band, The Used. Say hi, guys.”

“Hiii”, they all said into the web cam.
“So, you guys can introduce yourself just so we don’t confuse anyone. Here we have…”, I started, hinting at Jepha to introduce himself first.
“Oh, hi. I’m Jeph. I play bass in the band.”
“Uhm, I’m Quinn and I’m on the guitar.”
“My name’s Dan, I’m the drummer.”
“And I’m Bert. The fuckin´ vocalist. I sing”, he said, wrapping his arms around me while singing something into my ear.
I started laughing due to the fact that Bert’s 2-day beard was tickling my cheek, making me wiggle. It was hysterical.

“So, mom, dad, and everyone else that might see this video; I’m doing great. I’ve never been better.
I get to go on tour with my favorite band and everything is just so awesome right now, you won’t even believe it.
We’re in America right now, in San Francisco actually. It is so beautiful here.
Well, I have to go. I love you all so much, and I hope you’re doing great too. Bye”, I said with a smile as I stopped the recording.

“I miss them”, I said somewhat sighing as I began saving the video and getting ready to send it.
“Yeah, I’m sorry”, Quinn responded, putting his hand on my shoulder.
“It’s okay. I mean, I love it here, but I never really realized that I actually missed the ones at home until now. Oh, well, I’ll live”, I then said smiling.

As I spoke my brave words, I felt a tear almost unnoticeable running down my cheek.
I quickly wiped it off, making sure that the other guys didn't see.
The last thing I wanted was for them to feel sorry for me at that moment...
