Run Baby Run

I slowly woke up as I felt a hand move up against my leg to my thigh. I smiled when his hands then covered my eyes. As he whispered, his breath made the hairs on my neck stand.

“Guess who”

My smiled faded and I quickly panicked when I didn’t realize whose voice that was. My body froze in place when his hands disappeared from my face. Putting all my strength together, I rolled over to the other side of the bed to find it empty. I quickly sat up putting my hand to my chest feeling my abnormally fast heartbeat. I ran my hand through my hair and jumped when I heard a voice behind me.

“So this is what you do when I’m not around?”

I turned around and that’s when my fear was met. His eyes were dark with anger and the expression on his face was murderous. If looks could kill, I’d be dead.

“W-What are you talking about, Tony?”

“What am I talking about? You think I’m that fucking stupid? Well I’ll show you, you little bitch!” he yelled and then started walking towards me. I quickly jumped out the bed and hurried out the door. He came towards me as I rushed down the stairs. I tripped and fell on the floor. I looked behind me to see no one. I then looked to the side to see what I tripped on. I screamed as I found Matt lying face down on the floor soaked in his own blood. I quickly crawled to him and turned him over on his back. He grunted and slowly opened his eyes.

“Baby” his eyes were brimmed with unshed tears. He lifted his hands to my face.

“Matt,” I felt tears slip down my cheeks “please don’t leave me”

“I’m trying, baby”

“I need yo-” I turned around to face Tony as he cut me off.

“Oh how fucking cute” he laughed sadistically. “I told you not to go near him but you just couldn’t listen”

“Tony, why did you do this?”

“If I can’t have you then no one can” he grabbed me by the hair and started dragging my away from Matt.

He slammed me against the wall and then punched me in the jaw. I tasted the saltiness of my own blood. He then collided his fist with my stomach and then threw me on the floor. He kneeled down and looked me straight in the eye. All I could here was Matt’s voice yelling my name repeatedly. My eyes widened as the knife in his hands was coming towards me.

“Belz! Belz, wake up, baby” I fought the hands of the voice that were holding me down “Calm down baby, its okay, everything is okay”

I slowly opened my eyes and everything was blurred due to the tears I was shedding.

“Belz, its okay, I’m here” I heard Matt’s soft voice. He wiped the tears away and smiled at me. I hugged him and had him closer than ever before. The tears continued flowing as he held me tight and kissed my temple “What happened?”

“I had a nightmare” my voice cracked “Tony hurt you and you were dying and then he chased me and wanted to kill me”

“Oh baby, don’t cry, nothing is going to happen to you, me or anybody, okay?”

I nodded in his shoulder and finally calmed down when I whispered, “I love you”

“I love you too baby, and always will”

“Are you hungry?” Matt asked me as we walked into the kitchen. I nodded as I sat down on the counter next to the sink.

“Yeah, just a little”

He set down the plates from the cabinet and then walked over to where I was. He slowly moved my legs apart and filled the space between them. He placed his hands on each side of me and leaned his forehead against mine.

“You have no idea how much I missed you”

“I was only missing for a day, Matt”

With his right hand he tucked a strand of my hair behind me ear “Yeah, but I could have lost you for…forever. I should have seen what he was doing to you and I just wish I could go back in time and fix everything I did wrong. This is all my fault”

I ran my hand against his cheek “What happened isn’t your fault. I should have said something but…but I didn’t; instead I kept quiet”

He took my hand off his face and held it in his own “Can I ask you a question?” Unsure of what to say I nodded slowly “Since you were with him, what has he done to you?”

I quickly looked down to hide my shame and hurt. I should’ve expected this question. I felt his hand slip under my chin and he gently lifted my head so that I was looking at him.

“Tell me” he whispered.

“H-He, uh, he would hit me a lot”

His eyes darkened but he maintained a soft look “What else?”

I bit my trembling lip debating whether to tell him or not “He made me do drugs and…that’s it”

He looked at me sternly and I couldn’t help but look away. He knew that I was hiding something “That’s not all, is it?”

I felt a tear slip down my cheek “He raped me” Once those words left my lips, he clenched his jaw and fists.

“Just once?”

I shook my head and whispered, “Twice”

My body started to shake as tears were now falling. He hugged me and I didn’t know why I kept telling him what happened “He took away my first time. I-I didn’t want him to but he got so upset when I mentioned you” he started rubbing my back when he whispered in my ear.

“Don’t worry Belz, no one will ever hurt you again. I love you so much and I wish I would have told you sooner but he beat me to it”

Feeling confused, I wiped my face and then pulled away a little to see his face “What do you mean?”

He exhaled deeply “Remember that Monday when he asked you out?” I nodded and he kept explaining “I was going to ask you out at lunch. I didn’t think you liked me but I wanted to ask anyway”

I shook my head and asked myself, “Why didn’t I just say no to him?”

“But no worries, you’re with me now and that’s all I could ask for”

“Your right”

He leaned down and kissed my softly and slowly on the lips. As we started to deepen our kiss the doorbell rang. Matt groaned and pulled away.

“Be right back”

I nodded and then hopped off the counter. I opened the fridge and grabbed an applesauce. When I turned around I gasped from surprise as I found Jimmy behind me.

“Belz!” he yelled as he hugged me and then let go “Did I scare you?”

“Just a little” I laughed feeling my heart race.

“The guys want to see you”

I nodded “Alright” and then sat my applesauce on the counter and followed Jimmy to the living room. I was greeted with hugs and kisses from everyone. Everyone sat down as I searched for a seat. I placed my attention to Matt as he called me over. Without hesitating I sat on his lap and leaned my head against his shoulder.

“So how are you feeling, Belz?” Kristey asked me.

“I’m feeling, okay, I guess”

“So what you guys do when you came home?” Zack laughed.

I looked down in an attempt to hide the fact I was blushing. I heard a loud slapping noise and I looked up to find Zacky rubbing the back of his head mumbling words to himself.

“I’m glad you’re okay” Brian smiled “and I have to praise Matt for beating that piece of shit”

I narrowed my eyes in confusion “Who did Matt beat up?”

Brian’s eyes widened when he looked at Matt and then looked at me “Never mind”

“Tell me”

Brian looked at Matt and then at me “Ask him”

I turned my head to Matt’s direction and then met his angry expression “Tell me who”

“I beat up Tony”

I got off him but I was still facing him “Oh my God, Matt, please tell me you’re joking”

He shook his head “I’m not and why do you still care for that fucker after all he did to you?” he practically yelled that last part.

Feeling hurt I replied back “I don’t care about him and fucking care about you, that’s why I don’t want you hurting him. He can…”

His face now expressed regret “I’m sorry baby, I didn’t mean to” he pulled me to him so I was now sitting on his lap again.

“He can what?” Brian asked.

I locked eyes with him “Tony can hurt him and even…kill him”

Everyone’s eyes widened and Zacky spoke up “How?”

“He’s involved with gangs and drugs. He can bribe any junkie with drugs to hurt Matt and supply the person with weapons”

“Don’t worry, nothing is going to happen”

“You don’t know that”

“CHANGING TOPIC!” Jimmy yelled “who wants to party?”

I raised my hand “Me”

“Yes!” he yelled and then looked at everybody else “C’mon you guys!”

Kim and Kristey stood up “We need to get shit faced”

Everyone else stood up and Johnny yelled “Lets go get laid!”

Jimmy patted Johnny’s back “Yeah, good luck with that one buddy”

I was happy that I was now with my friends again but I couldn’t help but feel like something terribly wrong was going to happen to either Matt or me.
