What Happens Under The Sun

Chapter Thirty-seven

''Kate! Kate! Did you take my black heels?'' Jessica called from her room.

''They're at the door Jess. You put them there cause you wanted to wear them.'' I reminded her.

''Right!'' she ran out of her room and to the door.

''So what are you doing tonight? I feel kind of bad about leaving you here alone, but at the same time, it's not my fault you don't have a date with a hot blonde model.'' She said and I laughed.

''It's ok, I was going to go to my dad's for dinner, he'll probably be alone anyways.'' I told her.

''Shouldn't you call before you just show up?'' she asked, going back towards her room.

''Good idea.'' I picked up the phone and dialed.

''Hello?'' my dad answered.

''Hey dad!''

''Oh hi Kate, what's the matter?'' he asked and I laughed a bit.

''Nothing dad, I was just wondering what you were doing for dinner.'' I told him.

''I'm actually going out to dinner with a few people from the label.'' He replied.

''Oh.'' I said rather dejectedly.

''But I'm sure they wouldn't mind one more. I'll call the restaurant. I'll pick you up on my way over.'' He said and I smiled even though he couldn't see me.

''Sounds great dad, I'll see you later.'' I said.

''Bye dear.'' And then we hung up.

''Looks like I'm going out after all.'' I called to Jessica as I headed to my room.

''Aw, a date with daddy.'' She said.

''Some people from his label are going to be there.'' I told her.

''Aw, a date with daddy and some famous people.'' She said and I laughed.

My dad called after about two hours and I was ready to go. I had done my hair and was wearing a simple but elegant black dress. Jessica had left about twenty minutes ago and I had wished her luck.

When I got into the car my dad told me where we were going and I couldn't help but be kind of excited. First because I'd never been to any fancy restaurants in Germany, and second, because of who my dad was, I could say with confidence that this place was going to be good.

''You look nice dear.'' My dad said, kissing me on the cheek.

''Thanks dad.''

''So how's everything been so far? I take it you and Jessica are liking the apartment?'' he said.

''Oh yea it's great. I love how it's right in the middle of everything so we never have to go far.'' I told him.

''I'm glad you like it. I think you're going to like this place too.'' He said.

''I trust your judgment.'' I said and he laughed lightly.

We pulled up to the front of the restaurant and a guy in a valet's vest rushed to open the door for us.

''Mr. Reed! How are you doing tonight sir?'' the host asked when we got inside.

''I'm fine Leo. This is my daughter Kate.'' My dad said.

''Miss. Reed, a pleasure.'' Leo said, smiling courteously.

''Mr. Reed the other half of your party hasn't arrived yet but your table is ready.'' He said.

''Allow me to show you to your seats.''

''So who exactly are we having dinner with dad?'' I asked as we reached the table.

''Just some people I've been needing to see for a while.'' He told me.

We sat down and a guy came around to fill out water glasses immediately.

''So are we going to be hounded by paparazzi when they get here?'' I asked lightly as I picked up my glass.

''No, this place is very good for keeping them out.'' He replied.

''Ah, they're here.'' My dad said as I lifted my water glass to my lips.

I looked up and nearly choked.

Standing at the entrance of the restaurant was none other than Tom Kaulitz and the rest of his band.

Oh daddy, what did you do?
