Gravy Train
My dad loves gravy train. It is basically a meat and gravy dish served over mash potatoes or rice. After making it so many times growing up, I decided to get creative with this dish. Here is my version of gravy train. I hope you all enjoy this.
Ingredients:
- 1 small pack of beef stir fry strips, cubed
- 1 gravy packet (I use the mushroom gravy packet, but pork or original is fine too)
- 1 tbsp of dry parsley (fresh would be best though)
- ½ tsp of cinnamon (you can keep this out if you do not like it)
- ½ onion, diced
- 1 tsp of Creole seasoning
- 1 tsp of garlic powder
- Salt and Pepper to taste
Directions:
- After cubing the beef strips, add them to a fry pan along with the onions, parsley, cinnamon, creole seasoning, garlic powder, salt and pepper.
- Have the heat set between medium and low and make sure you don’t burn the meat or onions.
- After the meat is cooked all the way and the onions are soft, follow the directions on the gravy packet and add it in the pan.
- If the gravy is too thick, add some extra water.
- Bring the meat and gravy mixture to a boil and then set the lid on. Turn the heat to low and allow to simmer for ten minutes.
