Aha my history lecturers last semester were the droning type. To be good enough to lecture history at my uni, you've got to have been at it a long time I guess, so maybe the basics aren't exciting for them? Sadly they weren't for me either!

I record my lectures, and one tip that helps me is to go back right after the lecture, or at the end of the days classes if I'm busy, and spend 30 minutes re-reading, summarising, editing notes so they make more sense.

Although sometimes I do just fall asleep!

What a great article! Some fantastic tips in here - the clock one really works, too!

Oh lectures!! The vain of my existence! haha. One time I was so out of it, my friend started shooting spitballs at me so I would wake up and pay attention. Ever since then, my friends and I made it sort of a running joke: as soon as one us looks like they're not paying attention, we can throw spitballs at them.

Sure it does nothing but distract us even further, but it's still better falling asleep in class XD
