Ugh, if I'm not mistaken, my grandmother gets all kinds of little creepy pamphlets in the mail featuring these little disturbing dolls in them. I never would dream that people actually buy these things, let alone treat them like actual kids and dedicate rooms to them! That's just taking it a little too far and is beyond creepy. My grandmother has tons of these creepy dolls that are like cabbage patch kids and then these other strange porcelain doll type things, but she just collects them and sets them up in her extra rooms. It's not like she's obsessed with them like the women you speak of in this article. And if I'm not entirely mistaken, I may have seen that episode of Dr. Phil. Truthfully, any kind of baby doll that isn't obviously fake and plastic creeps me out. I never could sleep with them either. They gave me nightmares. XD

I'm sure my mother would just love to get her hands on a portrait doll of my dead sister.

This creeps me out completely. I have a huge fear of toy baby dolls, I can imagine the effect of having one of these around me would do.

The dolls do creep me out. It's weird and all, but obviously it makes the women and the people who buy/make them happy. The prices are ridiculous. Maybe I should start in the business of making reborns? Wink

I think they're cute. Except women who take it to the next level and dedicate entire rooms to them. If they want a baby, then go make a baby. Don't play house with a fake one.

This would creep me out to no end but as some other people have said, in a view of an artist, these things are beautiful and creative, but just as with having your own dead pet stuffed, I would never get a reborn baby let alone have a doll modeled after my own dead baby. Never. I'm happy going by my memories of those I loved and the photographs and my videos.

They look really, really cute in the picture but that would be so creepy to have in my house I don't think I could sleep with it there.

Hm. I think I'm the only person who thinks that reborn dolls are actually quite adorable... I think that, from an artistic standpoint, they're amazingly well painted, and I can appreciate the time and effort put into them.

However, I don't think I would actually one to own one... Particularly one with its eyes open. That could be a little... Weird.

Let's just say, after watching many horror movies involving realistic looking dolls, i would NOT put that in my room. EVER!

They are creepy.
HOWEVER, a lot of women re-create their children in these dolls, and in many of these cases, their child or baby has died. They get these dolls to remember their dead children. It's actually very sad.

I think they're creepy... they look like dead babies. I saw a show with a woman obsessed with those dolls and she neglected her own family and spent hours playing with them (cuddling, feeding, ect). I think the people who buy those have got to have some problems...

And because of this, hundrerds if not thousands of REAL babies and children are missing out of being adopted. Good article though

Thank you. I did have limited room as the wording can only go up to a certain amount. But they do have the videos on YouTube of the Dr. Phil show and you can watch another documentary called My Fake Baby on Veoh. I will be probably be making a Part ll just to cover more on this topic.

I was thinking that this was a little weird while I was reading it, then halfway through I was thinking men can buy those dolls and have sex with them..., then it just seemed like something a little different that gives people a certain kick in their life.

But real life baby dolls. It does make you wonder why people get them, and if they get them to fill a void of a dead child (like when you mentioned that people could send in photographs of babies...) Like, there would be a whole lot of things to get people going for those dolls, and it's strange that maybe people don't do anything about it - that it's an accepted norm amongst adults. :/

I think, for this article, I would have liked to have seen more about the dolls, cases of women who have bought them and what Dr Phil had to say about them more, because I think that it reads a little too briefly, but that's okay. :) You show the bizarre side of it.
