I don't like the classics just because they don't entertain me and I'm not too interested. But that shouldn't insinuate that I don't respect them. :] I admire the people who actually do have wide enough taste to like something like that, my taste is not so diverse.
    Radical article.

I'm more of a classic book reader. They might not be from the '20s but they're still classics. I watch some classic movies that are black and white, though. They may not have the awesome effects, but they're still good movies. The only older shows I watch are game shows from the '60s and '70s. xD

Not many people read anymore, anyway.
With TV and movies most people want cool special effects. They're just missing out on good stories that were original.

I grew up on I Love Lucy, Dick Van Dyke, and The Andy Griffith Show. Just because something is black and white doesn't make it boring. Sure the dialouge isn't up to par for most of the millenium's viewers, but I still find those types of shows funny. One of my favorite movies is Arsenic and OldLace, black and white, not to mention Casablanca, black and white. I love to watch Turner Classic Movies, one time I watched Scaramouche; a 1929, black and white silent movie, and I loved it.

This generation has failed to pass on anything from the past. My mother always shows me old television shows on youtube that she watched when she was a kid, and we buy old movies all the time. I for one will not let my kids suffer reality tv without knowing they can become a director or writer and make great films and shows to repent for what Hollywood has butchered.

Point: Classics are great when given a chance. We should have more tv shows like the old ones, I crack up at Lucy and Arsenic and OldLace.

My mother misjudged Animal Farm and sat me down to watch the movie when I was seven. I remeber feeling so upset afterwards.

I love most classics but personally I hate Animal Farm, George Orwell has written better novels such as 1984 but it is a classic, as is Shakespeare's work and Jane Austen's work, however todays society seems to neglect these works and dismiss them with ease... It shows why the average IQ is dropping and why schooling is becoming less interesting to people, they need classic novels to read, classic shows and movies to see to enjoy!!! Well written article

    Great article :)
I think it's really sad that everyone is forgetting the classics. I love all the classics like Pride and Prejudice and Great Expectations, but if I ever mentioned Miss Havisham, or Mr Darcy to most of my friends, they wouldn't have a clue what I was on about.
The classic comedy TV shows, like Blackadder and Fawlty Towers are also being forgotten, even though they're a million times funnier than Malcom in the Middle, or whatever.

I adore old movie and old cartoon movies -the new ones are just ugly-. My favorite Charlie Chaplin one is the one in which he impersonates Hitler, I don't even know its name. But it's just hilarious.
I'm also a fan of old literature, old-old-old literature actually, I'm passionate about classic languages, particularly Latin -since I study it at school. Nowadays kids want everything that new and ''cool''. It's a shame really.
