yea; the same thing happened at my school
except it was with a "Maine" shirt.
thoes people do get on my nerves, but what can we do about it?
what do you say to someone thats wearing it
"hey you, stop wearing that"
errr....that would be kinda awkward, wouldnt it?

I saw it when it first came out and I loved it. I never bought the VHS or DVD, because I usually don't re-watch movies. When it's merch came out, I was ecstatic. I've bought quite a few things with Jack, Sally, or even just Pumpkins with NBC's logo on it. Now that's it's overly popular...I don't like it as much. It really bothers me when people wear things, and don't even know where it comes from. It makes me feel like nobody cares about being a true fan.
It's so sad. :/

In some ways I agree with your point but in some ways I don't.
There is the fact that yes, people do wear it and have no clue about the film which can be a pain!

...but...

Sometimes in order to find out about the film (if you were not lucky enough to be born in the time that it was released...in it's early days.) then, aside from hear-say from perhaps older siblings, where are they to find out about the film.

Taking a liking to a certain piece merchandise will then get them to search out where it comes from and then, hopefully, get what it's all about. (That's if they are not infact trend sheep.)

It's like the Heartagram mentioned before. Due to BAM wearing it he has made it a famous logo and some people wear it thinking it's BAM's logo when in fact it is HIM's. Drawn by Valo a while ago I believe.

I do that a lot. If I see something I like, I will buy it and then search more into it.

In addition, I love the film!! it is one of my favourites!! I will admit when I was a child, Jack scared me! but now I love him and Oogie Boogie!!

So yeah, that is my point and excuse my grammar, I've had a long and tiring day...
(Hope my point made sense.)

This whole deal reminds me of when Supre started selling Che Guvara t-shirts, and every little teenie bopper went around with his face plastered across their double A chests. As expected, the little idiots didn't know who the hell they were wearing, or what he stood for.

And that's Che fucking Guvara. I mean, come on. You can't just wear that guy's face on you and not know what you're getting yourself into. So no- if you are going to wear a picture of someone, you should know who they are and what they stand for. Otherwise you're just being a prententious douchebag.

i find the whole deal rather stupid. i absolutly love Tim Burton, i always say i'm gonna marry hm. but people really need to move on from the nightmare before christmas, Tim has created way better movies i think then just the tale of Jake and Sally. I truly love every Tim movie, i've liked memorized all the words to his claymation movies, i can;t wait to go see his newest one!

and personly i think that if people are gonna praze Tim they should praze Danny Elfman too, most people don't realize it but, if Tim didn't have Danny he probably wouldn't last as long as he has. he probably wouldn't have done anything to get his movies out in the world, cause if you listen closly Tim and Danny complete each other and their ideas bounce off of eachother like a boucey ball in a room with a kid that has A.D.D.!!

No one knew that much about the movie until they re-released it on dvd and when hot topic started selling the merchandise. I remember watching that movie in theaters when it came out and then buying it on vhs. I still have the vhs, but its funny how everyone in my house refuses to watch it because of its boom in popularity. I guess its associated with teens trying to be edgy and my older siblings want to stray as far away as they can from teenagers. I really don't care about that. Its an awesome movie and its always been one of my favorites. I don't care how many people pretend to like it. Most kids that I see wearing it were like infants or weren't even bore when it came out. BUT I WAS ALIVE AND I REMEMBER!!!! ^_^

It such an trend and icons among kids nowadays.
I hate people that wear the stuff for the wrong reason.
Luckily, I'll continue loving the movie AND wear stuff I actually like.
I hate following trends.

I don't think so...

I love The Nightmare because it was awesome- much like EVERYTHING Tim Burton directs- but it's not fair to true fans, who can't even FIND a Jack the Pumpkin King outfit because stupid nonNBC watchers have already bought them out. <_<

But I digress.

You love it too right? and she said no she saw Pete Wentz's Jack tattoo and did this in dedication to him..

Grammar: B
Use of spell check: A
Used adjectives where they belong: B
Used adjective in place of adverb: A
Has meaning: B
Assumes most people who wear Nightmare Before Christmas gear doesn't know what it is from one bad encounter: A
Organization: C
Re-read before posting to remove silly errors: F

Overall: B-

Notes: Stop ranting about nothing. The summarization of the movie at the beginning was unnecessary and irrelevant. You should have just jumped right into your argument. Despite the fact that one girl didn't know anything about Jack Skellington, most people who wear the stuff know what they're wearing.

in any occasion I would play the typical "nonconformist" or emo role and cuss them out for dressing a certain way that's not true. But, I think in this situation I would have just asked them what drew them to buy the shirt. Then I would clarify that it was a movie and say my opinion, whether it's nasty or not. I've always been a strong believer that if you don't know what the symbol on clothing means, you should look it up or just not buy it. The same goes the HIM logo since I see people wear it all the time. if you don't know what it means; why wear it?

I love the movie! I think it's awesome. But Jack's become a bit of an icon. Probably because was it Panic! at the disco? that did the theme tune?
