    who said fatness IS curvy?
i for one am not anorexic or bolemic
    im just naturally petite
    skinny, as people say
and i also hate when fat people use the bulumptious, or curvacatious cop outs
    to excuse their disgusting choices
lose weight and we'll all be happy!
(and the girl in that pic is not anorexic, she is skinny)
    which is normal!

Wow. This is really sad. We have the same problem in the US. You can never feel good about yourself because the guy always goes for the girl who is a size 2 (size 4 or 6 in the UK) and you think you look like a cow in every pic of yourself when you compare it to pics of "gorgeously thin" women like Paris Hilton and Nicole Ritchie.

im a size five but i never had to starve myself or do drugs to get my figure. in fact, in grade 3 i was the fatty in class, now im the one getting asked for fitness advice by others. i also never work out. (does moshing and wrecking count?)
a lot of people forget that the body shape is largely determined my genetics, as it acne, eye colour, skin colour, etc.
the media does seem to be taking more larger sized models into consideration, but if overweight girls get the idea thats its ok to be overweight, theyll never change thier eating habits, theyll never start working out and theyll be unhealthy. just be happy with the body you were given. if your naturally a little big, thats fine. if your naturally a size minus 3, thats fine too. but the problem comes in when people get the ideas that beauty is only seen on the cover of a magazine.

See, this is a really great article, but there's one problem.

Yes, being a size 0 is NOT healthy, but if you excess fat on your body, that can lead to heart attacks, diabetes, clogged arteries, and other excessive health risks.

I'm overweight, and am reminded every day that my extra fat is dangerous. I'm comfortable enough with myself to deal with my body, but being overweight is not the best alternative to being skeleton skinny.

There should be some type of middle ground, but sadly media works best with " here's gorgeous and beautiful. Now here's horribly and deformed". It's just the way that press works.

    Peace. <3

Your right, I recently dropped down to 99 pounds and I'm 13. It's not healthy at all, and the public eye is really making it worse and worse on the teenage youth. Although now I rest okay at 114, I still sometimes faint when I stand up. And have a gaunt looking skin tone vrs m originol peaches and cream. In the long run it's really not worth it at all. People just need to be healthy and happy, but that's really the hardest combination to acheive.

Yeah it's a shame seeing girls like that. Good article.

Just eat right and exercise. That's all anyone needs.

Hell, I'm a huge chunk (hence my nickname), I dunno about this article, I mean yeah sure, its happening, but what about the minority? I'm what the world would call fat and I'm pretty happy. :D

This is horrible, especially that picture. That new show Coleen's real women is better when it comes to models. Using women who are more 10-16 in size. They're the sort of people we should admire.

okay so i do everything i can to acheive the perfect body
which for me is my buissness
but the media is doing more every time i watch a modeling show some one is trying to get a bigger size
so the media is trying but they cant erase the damge they have done
they should be trying to prevent young girls between the ages of 7-12 to not develope low self estems or eating disorders
because i starting feeling bad about myself when i was 8 and thats young i didnt do anything about it
    but i am now
i tell you that i hate my size and when i hear a about prople who are naturaly thin i cant help but want to be like that
the media isnt the onlyh problem i feel presure in my school!
also its diet pills who can cause major damage too
i hadnt even heard of eating disorders until i was in 7 grade even then i wasnt well educated about it
but now i am and i have changed my ways so
schools should be eduating children about them but not to young because that could give them ideas
we just need to be careful about everything we do
    thats all

I've never had a problem with my weight or the way I look, but I guess I'm just very lucky
Right now in this point in time I wouldn't change a thing about my body
But most of women I know wont stop going on about how much they weigh or how fat they are :/

    Pretty alright article btw

    -high five!-

I was just waiting for someone to write an article on this! I'm not a size 14, not even a 10, but, I feel the pressure from size 0-2 girls. It's stupid and I want to find the person who started the whole"thin is in" faze. Actually, that person is probably dead because of how unhealthy it is. so there.

I know. It's horrible, isn't it? Now that countries all over have the people's weight ballooning, we also have people who starve themselves. It's the two extremes. Almost every magazines annouces "_____'s Diet Secrets!"
What they forget to annouce are that these secrets are eating disorders, and that we have a serious epidemic of young girls who are throwing their LIVES away to be skinny.

I agree with the general gist of this article, but the picture caption struck me as a little odd. I'm naturally a size zero, and I've never dieted....

    Gah i hate this
why do people think they need to be so thin to be beautiful
media needs to stop promoting there stuff with really small models
    its not good
you are beautiful no matter what you look like
gosh i wish people would get it through their minds
it really bugs me so much that i want to cry :(

this is really good, i mean those are valid points and its the way a lot of people are starting to see the size 0 phenominon. i didnt spell that right, did i? XD nvm. good article. only thing is, there shouldnt be ANY size of 'perfection' be it a 6 or a 16. im quite skinny, i have a high metabolism, and the kind of people who rant about size 0 tell me im disgustingly thin and i should eat and everything... its kinda hard for me to like myself like that. but yeah, pressure to be thin is dangerous... you should look how you do and be happy. =D

girls think that they need to be skinny because they think guys will only like them if they're "stick" skinny.
now i don't know if the article already said this because i didn't read the whole article.
but this is an important issue.
nobody should try to make themselves "better" by harming themselves

good article. very good points. there's nothing natural about starving yourself to look like someone who is unhealthy and probably airbrushed even thinner digitally anyway. if you're born with a fast metabolism, that's one thing but thinking you have to look one way is sick. the media needs to change.
