I agree on the point of stopping animal testing in cosmetics but i think medical companies should be able to have to option of using animal testing or not

Your article was pretty, good, but more research would have made it Great. You Have the potential.

But I do agree with you.

I'm sorry but I don't think you did a proper research before writing this article. Besides, it seems that you only spoke from the point of view of testing cosmetics on animals. You can't make medicines and test them on humans first, you just can't. Lab rats are bred for a sole purpose : testing. Through this they, as crazy as it sounds, give something to the world. If tests would not be conducted on them, they would not be bred.

I'm not an ardent supporter of animal tests, I'm not a supporter at all, but life is not fair and the world would not be a better place if we didn't use animals for testing. And, as Kurtni said, they don't bring an endangered species and test the hell outta it. They breed rats and test on them, and that's normal and we all have to make our peace with it. There, I said it! Can't wait for the bitching!

It's in the Nuremberg Code not to test anything that will be used on humans before sytematic and rigourous tests on animals.

Of course humand are animals too- mammals, my bad. But the fact is, we don't have that mentality. Humans like to believe they have god powers above animals and in a way, we do. But we let that go to our heads- thus, our "we're better then everything else" idea has made it easy for us to test on innocent animals without remorse.

I'm not really sure what side to go on here, i mean testing products can be bad because it can harm the animal or kill them but i don't know, i mean i have some sympathy for the animals but not a whole lot, i mean what if we tested something on humans and it killed them!?! then what? i don't really know, plus i don't really care if the animal dies or not because i hunt, but maybe it would be better if we tested on an animal that are over populating? i really dont know what side to be on here...

Hey, everyone says, "Help control the pet population", so why not do that while also keeping us safe?

kurtni, i understand what you're saying and sure you have some valid points but the thing about the lab rat and the kid; so you just pick the kid because it's your own kind and cos rats aren't cute?
they're living beings. they think, they feel. humans as a race deserve pain more than animals if you ask me. i'm not saying a child deserves it but neither does a rat.
it kills me that we're biased towards our own kind.
we should think more about animals who can't speak out for themselves.
i'd save the lab rat. that's just me.

"Animals have different DNA patterns then us, and therefore, what may be safe for an animal can be unfit for a human and vice versa. How can we be sure that something tested on an animal that does work can work for us as well? "

Because we know our genome, and that of the animals we test on. Animal testing is effective and it works. However, that doesn't mean it's morally correct. I don't support animal testing for trivial things like cosmetic purposes. But, if you show me a little kid dying of Lukemia, and a mutated lab rat who was used to research cancer stem cells, I can tell you which one I would feel sorry for....

"Many animals have become endangered from lack of environment, food, and other factors that are caused by humans - we shouldnt make animal testing one of those factors. "
It isn't legal to test on animals that are endangered. People don't go out and kidnap Pandas and bring them back to labs. The majority of animals used for testing were bred in a lab to begin with. I don't support that, but making it out like animal testing could potentially wipe out species of animals is unfair.

That is so true. People test on animals, even when there is no satisfactory excuse.
We need to stop doing what we do to animals- after all, how would we like it? We are animals ourselves.
