A Possible New Development in Autism - Comments

This is interesting... though, I do think autism can be genetic. Both my parents have undiagnosed autism spectrum disorders. My dad is very anti-social, has sensory issues with sound and touch despite having hearing issues, gets into certain obsessions... while my mom is very developmentally-delayed, repeats herself a lot and often has anger issues. (There's more but I can't name all of them.)

I do think it more or less depends on the person or persons. There are different causes for autism that still have yet to be discovered. For me, I feel like I got my autistic disorder from my parents, since they both have heavy traits of autism, especially my mother. But because times were different for them growing up, they were never really diagnosed with anything like that.

Interesting, what is your source for this?
Makes me think back to a couple of sets of twins that I knew of where one was on the spectrum and the other was not, but I had always assumed they were fraternal, but this makes me wonder if I assumed wrong.
Either way, there still could be something to do with genetics because of the instances of autism in siblings.
