i really don't think anyone is ugly because it's just a word someone made up to make themself feel better. granted i get called ugly all the time but i know i'm not. no one is ugly, everyone is different and that's what makes us all beautiful really

I think you chose a good topic to do... It's a topic that just encourages more questions to come to mind and a very controersial topic, it's also one with no anser. It's something that is decided by an individual as the saying goes; "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder." It's a good article, intriguing infact with the examples you've used. And quite fascinating as to see the opinions held by others those that see people by looks and those that see them by personality... is someone ugly due to looks or something deeper.

I honestly don't have an answer. That just brings up more and more questions.
I think ugly is different to different people. Not everyone is pretty to people. Not everyone likes the same things. Some people might like skinny people and some might like muscular people. I think it's different for everyone.

My little brother always calls me zit face and ugly. I think that it is not the way that we look. but how the way that we act around people. We are only human after all.

Being pretty (in my opinion) depends on how harmoniously your features are set together. Some features can make you stand out and make you seem even more beautiful (that is if your beatiful) or the features could make your face ugly. Some features can compliment other features, and there by making you pretty. But if you rude and mean, some people might find that more obvious than your beauty and then decide you are ugly. Simple as that.

I believe ugly is based upon ones personality.
If one is rude,nasty, and just straight on mean, then that person is ugly
I believe that anyone with a beautiful personality is in fact a beautiful person, not based on their looks but who they are.
But usually people find people ugly if they are "different" or have odd features.
Like if someone was really huge most people would say they are ugly just because they dont have a "perfect" figure which would be skinny.
Or say someone wore alot of makeup or had a huge or weird nose,most would say their ugly.
I think people that call other people ugly,are infact the ugly ones.

To me, I just find a person ugly if they have a horrible personality. Doesn't matter to me if they're pretty or not.
And if someone has a great personality and maybe they aren't the most attractive person, I don't think they're ugly either.So there.

Ugly means it is unattractive TO YOU.
What I find to be "hot" you may find, unattractive - there for you'd say it is ugly.
Or, the other way around.

Honestly, there's no definite ugly. Ugly is each own person's opinion. This article is a good one, because it does point out that everyone has their own opinions, and people are hypocritical.It all comes down to everyone's opinions. A lot of people judge on looks, whether people are 'ugly' or 'pretty', and usually there's a change. Personality can also be 'ugly' or 'pretty'. It just depends on each person and their opinion. For example, my friend thinks she's completely hideous. I think she's stunning. Others have told her that as well. She still thinks she isn't. So remember: everyone will have their own opinion. But you are your worst critic.

There is no true thing as ugly. Beauty is beauty. All things created are beautiful if you look at them the right way. If you try to change yourself, you and changing your true form. And, seeing as you are created that way, changing your true form takes away the beauty.

It's mostly personal preference.
Although, in physical attraction people subconciously go for people who are symmetrical in the face, have matching eye white with their teeth and the same amount of body fat percentage. (I don't get the last part, thugh)

everyone is a bit hipicrictical in that way even me some times we just try are best and do what we think is right and try are hardest not judged or we will be judged 3 times as worse as they say. beauty as the girl 2 below me says in the eye of the beholder. but wouldnt it be cool if we all were beautiful to everyone? but then what would make us different. but in a world that prizes looks and sometimes brains its not as easy to see the goodness in people. wich is how people are really beautiful? dont you agree.

Everyone is beautiful in different ways, but I guess it's preference of a person as well.

Everyone has their opinoins (sp.?) about other people and how they look. I honestly think that no one is ugly, becasue we basically all look teh same. But when it comes down to it, I could tell you who I think is attractive in a crowd.
My best friend for example. She used to look in the mirror and say, "I'm ugly."
I would think to myself, "How stupid she is! She looks perfectly fine! She's not fat and she's athletic. She wears the right amount of make-up."

So it all depends on what the beholder thinks.
