Adding to my two previous posts (Because I forgot :P)
It is pretty crazy. Yeah, it's historic but it's getting on my nerves. On the news 24/7, it's enough to make a person go crazy. All I hear is Barack Obama, Barack Obama, Barack Obama. At the end of the day, he's just our president.
I'll stop talking now...might dig myself into a deeper hole. >.<
I see a man, I'm extremely feminist. I could care less about what color he is. I cannot wait until we get an intelligent (not Sarah Palin >.<) woman in the White House. Then, I will be thrill. I see sex not race. Pretty ignorant of me...
It's an epic win, but I'm still disheartened by the fact I know that some people voted for Obama because they did not want Hilary for the fact she was a woman. (I can't stand Hilary, but I know people who did vote for Obama in the primaries JUST because Hiliary was a woman)
It's ignorant of me... I care more about gender than race. The point is, Obama has to fix this country for everyone's sake.
"I mean, as corny as it sounds, I don't judge people based on color, I really don't."
I keep seeing things like that and I don't see how that matters. Regardless of how you view race, America has had serious issues with race and as a whole race has been something people were judged on. The fact that we've elected someone of a different race for the first time is important. I think it would be most important to those who don't judge based on race personally.
Personally, I think it's way over the top. I don't remember all this hullabaloo when George W. Bush was inaugurated in 2000. We talked about him, sure...but not this. In my sister's school, they are having a ball and missing a day of class just for it. When I was in school during Bush's inauguration, some people didn't even know (including me) that there was an event, only in school and even then...we didn't talk about it much.
It's ridiculous. Yeah, it's history and I do acknowledge that. Maybe it's because I don't see black or white, I just see a man. Maybe that's why I don't see it as a big deal. I mean, as corny as it sounds, I don't judge people based on color, I really don't. I come from a family who does, but I really don't care. All I see is a man who claims he can help our country and for our sake I hope he does.
I live in Virginia, about 2 miles from I-95 which leads up to DC. It's packed north-bound. The kids in the public school systems are required to watch the inaugaration, which they never had to before. It's actually mandatory. They made it a part of the standards of learning. I think it's a bit over the top.
In all of my life, I have never been so excited. My mother is actually making [[lol]] me stay home and we are all having our own Inaguration Party. My best friend along with other members of my high school left this morning to go see it in DC. It's more than the fact that we are have elected our firth African American President...it's the change.
I'm really excited of tomorrow. My college is having a big thing for it and we'll all be together watching his speech. It's very big deal. He's the first black president. It's a big milestone in history, that's why people are making such a big deal of it.
Buuut... I am so psyched about the inauguration (: I'm British and I get back from school in time to watch the entire ceremony, so for those two hours I'm gonna switch my phone off and watch the entire thing xD I can't wait. A lot of people would say that's sad - especially some of the imbeciles at my school - but how often do we get to watch history in the making? It's not just a day for America, it's a day for the entire world to admire. Think of people like Rosa Parks and Martin Luther Kind; how proud would they be? I wish they could be alive to honour Obam and the achievements he's made.
