My brother had it...didn't seem to harm him other than a high fever and a splitting headache for a few days.

I've never ever been more worried about anything in my life, people tell me that I'm over-reacting, I really hope I am.

People are making too big of a deal out of this. The one fatality in the U.S. from the flu was an infant. I know I'm not a doctor or anything, but I'm going to take a guess and say maybe an infant's immune system isn't as high as an adult's. People need to understand that the "swine flu" is nothing to be worrying about.
Seriously, go the extra mile and cover your mouth when you cough or sneeze. I heard washing your hands regularly helps too. But like I said, I'm no doctor.

Everything will be alright. And you have to remember, that little baby who passed away (bless it's little soul) was only an infant. They have very low immune sytems. If we stay a little cleaner, and take good care of our children and ourselves, we should be fine. ALSO, only 8 people have died from the swine flu. So, i wouldnt worry too much about it.
Lice is contagious, the cold is contagious, as are many other conditions. So if you get sick with the flu, dont stress out. its no good for you. Just take care of yourself like you would with any other sickness.

The Swine Flu was a government release virus. Along with AIDS and other viruses. It was created to get the population down.

Well, I'm in Guatemala right now, everything is normal.... Noone has masks on and all that shiz. Well the principal DID asks us to use 'em but why? I mean, yeah this is gonna sound cruel but.... Only people with low imune system will die. So, here we are with. Cancer, HIV, The bird flu and now the swine flu. We always find a way to fight them off, like the bird flu. I still remember how crazy everything turned around the world. HIV is very dangerous but we got it under control. Cancer is avoidable and now we just have to find a way to avoid or erradicate the Swine flu.

I mean, we aren't going to shut ourselve's in and waste out lives for who-knows-how-long because one more sickness is added to list? No, not me atleast.

you know 10,000 people die EVERY YEAR of normal flu in the UK alone so why when there are 8 cases of Swine flu do people panic and go over the top? We are not going to be screwed as long as we take precautions to make sure this flu doesn't spread but the government and media (who are influenced by the government) are blowing things way out of proportion. Like Bird flu and Mad Cow disease years ago, it won't become a pandemic, we will survive the swine flu. Also very good article, it's nice to see the actual facts! Oh and the one person who hadn't been to Mexico, was with a person who had been to Mexico and that's how they got Swine Flu. Yet again very good article

Thanks for the facts. People have been making up all sorts of statistics lately.

To my knowledge, the child that died in the US was a 23 month year old.

I think the Media is distorting the swine flu. I have a feeling that it will breeze over soon.

Its really funny, in the uk the reporters are just scaremongering =/ it got proven that after wearing a face mask for two hours it would become moist with your own breath and then the germs could just get through anyways. i dont know why everyones getting so hyped up about it, becuase if you get it they have those weird tablety things that stop it

If I hear one more thing about swine flu I will lose my miiind, jesus.
Roughly 35,000 people die in the US every year from the old fashioned, regular ol' flu. And all of these people are either young children or old people.
And then you say a 23 month year old with an low immune system disorder who originally came from Mexico to begin with dies and I'm supposed to be worried?
    Hahahahaha, no.

I absolute hate this, I live in Houston, Texas(Tomball really) where the little boy died and because of that little boy, everything has like shut down. This is horrible. There is also a case of swine like three miles away from Tomball, In Magnolia, now they are talking about shutting down all the schools here. The reason why that little boy died, is unfortunate, but he also had a weak immune system because he WAS a baby. I really hope this all gets better soon. Because I'm a junior and really don't want to have to make up freaking school in summer. Not sacrificing my last summer with all my friends before I graduate.

I'm really scared of this. Ever since I heard about it (in Math class today, to be specific) I've been freaking out. I mean, anyone can get it. And as if that isn't bad enough, you'll have to leave and go live somewhere else for a while (if you have it).

    Geez.

    "wear a mask."??
umm, you do realize the masks that you are buying at stores only protect you from allergens, right?

Doctors from Mexico have already comfirmed that the masks are pointless and do not protect you from the flu.

Be hygenic, don't share stuff like food or drinks, don't chew on your pencills. Also, sanatize your hands before eating or touching your facial area.

Smile, it's not the end of the world.

People are freaking out a lot. It's been in the headlines of the newspaper for the past few days, and we've received two very similar handouts at school. I don't know anyone who has it for sure, though, so I'm glad it's not hereā€¦

Everyone is seriously overreacting about this swine flu. 30,000 people each year in the United States die from the regular flu, and only one person has this year. The only difference is that there is no cure for swine. My school is extremely percausionite right now because there are 17 reported cases in Dallas and I just heard that there was one in my city today.

People need to chill out, it's not a global epidemic or even close to one. You don't need to wear masks or shit like that. It's being taken WAY out of hand
