GeeandBobrockmysocks - Yes plants are living but they do not feel pain like animals do. Plants do not possess a nervous system like animals/humans.
I'm all for helping animals but some of the ideas that PETA put forward are just not right or practical, for example; asking Ben & Jerry's to use human milk instead of milk from cows.
Ok this article way wayyy blown out of porportion!
The thing about the women, it's not about sex apeal, it's natural beauty. It's making a statment sayinf "Hey, I'd rather were the skin god gave me then kill an animal and wear theirs!" They have men doing it to, just google it. It's not just women.
And yea, I will admit, somtimes the people for peta get a little nutty, but the organazation is good, it's just a few of the people that work for it that somtimes get a little too passionate.
And by useing bands, they are NOT brainwashing people into becoming a vegetarion. They are simply just getting celebs to suport the cause. Have you ever seen the add with all the bands from warped wearing the shirt that says "I heart boobs"? That's for breast cancer. So are the people from American Cancer Society brainwashing teens into breast cancer awarness? No, they are just getting more people to get invloved and more aware.
I agree with everything this article says :]
I think peta has good intentions, but is carry them out wrong.
nice article, I don't think it was biased. :D
Sardonic Grin - No, I didn't mean that at all. I probably worded that wrong, I meant people who have educated themselves about animal suffering and taken time out of their lives to help ease their effect on it. Not just people who have gone vegetarian/vegan. People who don't use a shampoo tested on animals, who bought a winter coat without real fur, somebody who boycotts the Circus, ect.
I'm not somebody who thinks I'am superior to anybody. By "better" I meant somebody might feel "better" about themselves when they know they're helping animals worldwide. I know I've felt like a better person by going vegan, not better than somebody, but just a better person.
I agree with gaga and eloquently elegant.
This article was biased.
PETA euthanize animals because they are not an animal shelter. They try to put the animals up for adoption but right now we have a severe animal over-population issue. PETA trys their best to help save their resecued animals.
This article was very biased. Why not mention some of the kind acts PETA has commited? How about getting thousands of companies to stop testing on animals and to stop using fur in their fashion lines? The millions of people they've inspired to become vegetarian/vegan, to become animal rights activists and to become better people?
I support PETA, not every single campaign and ideal of theirs, but yes I do support them.
I think PETA has their heart in the right place, maybe, but they're not executing their actions properly. I'm a devote vegan, and I am 100% against all types of animal cruelty, as is PETA, but I just think they take it too far. They give vegetarians/vegans/animal supporters a bad reputation.
I think this is unjustified.
PETA isn't necessarily doing these things because they think animals deserve to be treated like gods, but that they deserve better treatment than what some people give.
It's not fair that people put a blind eye to animals that have been abused over children. Not saying that a cat means more than a baby, but it's not fair that humans take such power and control, and abuse that privilege.
I believe strongly in a world of peace, and this for me helps that
They put fake blood on coats, yes, but at least they don't go round killing living things.
I found this article extreamlyinteresting and I agree with you 100%. I've never been a supporter of PETA, finding them unjust in tons of their actions. I have a friend who's in PETA and I don't know how she can do that. At our fair every year, PETA always comes through to examine all the animals, and if their expectations aren't met, there is hell to pay.
