Turns out Christian Bale actually went to the hospital and visited those who were wounded. My heart goes out to all those who were victims, their family, friends, and community.

Unbelievable. My heart weeps for all the victims and their families involved in the shooting. No one should have to go through something like that.

The best part about living in a country where you can ever gets fully automatic bb guns. The sort of guys they use are illegal here, and I am pretty sure you can't get them. Maybe the USA needs to re-think there gun laws about what people can obtain. It was so sad hearing about it, especially because I had gone and seen the midnight screen in my country. Sad

I want to know why. Why did he this?
It breaks my heart to know that so many innocent people were killed or hurt.
It was so senseless. It scares me because if this could happen there....it can happen anywhere.

You know, that whole thing has only made my boyfriend want to get a carry license even more.

They might need to a be a little stricter, but we should still have the right to carry them. I've always heard the phrase guns don't kill people, people kill people.

I don't think stricter gun laws will do anything, really. People are going to do what they want to do. It doesn't matter if it's illegal or not. Murdering a person is illegal. That certainly didn't stop him.

One of the victims had only just survived the Eaton Centre shootings a month ago. This is just insane.

Can you say stricter gun laws?
People do stupid things - give them less guns to do those stupid things with.

I live in Colorado and frequent this theater often with my mom and the kids I babysit. I know the area very well and Aurora as been doing well with this type of stuff recently and THIS happens. My father lives right by this theater and my cousins as well. I am shocked that this has happened. My heart goes out to all the victims of this tragedy.

This is such a terrible tragedy. My condolences go out to the victims and their friends and family, they must be going through so much right now. But I'm curious as to what Holmes' motive was. From what I've read on the story, he didn't seem like the kind of person to do something like this so it makes me wonder what drove him to do this. :/

I saw this on twitter and thought it was very apt: "@LailaLalami: First, the shooting. Then the mourning. Then some talk. Then some more talk. Then no law gets passed. Then another shooting."

From an outsiders point of view, the second amendment is MESSED UP. How can anyone from the 21st century oppose gun control?! It just doesn't make any sense, and the way the media seems to blame the whole Batman franchise is maddening! It's passing the buck. I don't mean to offend anyone but it seems like the majority of Americans in charge are too stupid to realise the real root of the problem, but then again, I'm from England so I guess it's difficult for me to think pro-gun.

In other articles online it says that the man told the police that he belived himself to be the Joker. Also that the man had painted his hair red. My heart goes out to the people who lost their lives and the people and families who are recovering from this incident.

I don't think I'll be going to a movie theater any time soon now.

Geez, Colorado can't get break with the shootings. My heart goes out to the families of the deceased and the injured.
James Holmes is interesting. I'm going to be studying him for at least another week. Now when I say interesting, I don't mean I think he did the right thing at all. But I find this situation to be stimulating.
On a side note, apparently this man told the police when they arrested him that he was The Joker. So the movie most likely has some tie to him and his... psychotic break? I'm not sure what to call it yet.

New York Police Commissioner Ray Kelly said Friday that the alleged gunman in the attack on a packed theater in Colorado identified himself as Batman’s arch-enemy “The Joker” after he sprayed bullets into a midnight showing of “Batman: The Dark Knight Rises.”
“He had his hair painted red, he said he was ‘The Joker,’ obviously the ‘enemy’ of Batman,” Kelly said at a news conference in which he said security at New York City theaters was being increased.

This truly did break my heart. But as others have said, this guy really interests the living daylights out of me. The whole nation, and others around the world that have heard about it I'm sure, is probably wondering the same thing I am. Why? Why? Why? Why? It just blows my mind how people can do stuff like this..
