The WBC is a cult, not a religion. Christianity as a whole is a religion, and Catholicism, Orthodoxism, Anglicanism, Protestantism are branches of it, officially called cults.
I don't agree with the end of the article. Disturbing a grieving family at the funeral of a loved one isn't standing up for what you believe in, it's looking to show your unreasoned hate however you can and wherever you can. Standing up for what you believe in must be done with caution, not for the mere hurting of others.
Say I believed in high fashion and saw a girl dressed awfully. I wouldn't go down to her and scream "OMG you look so freaking bad!", because that would be plain mean.

The WBC is a religion, but just so you know they are on the hate groups list. I don't agree with anything they have to say, and since they are listed as a hate group they should be limited more than they are, and even though they seem to hate America they seem pretty comfy under the blanket of our 1st amendment.

ugh, this group makes me sick. i mean yeah everybody has the right to voice their opinions but protesting someone's DEATH! I mean come on! at least let the person live in peace, and what do you think having their daughters funeral protested does to the FAMILY! This group has no right to put people through that kind of heart ache.

All I say is that this group is no different than SKIN HEADS!

I don't think they should be shut down. Everyone has their right to their opinions, and their free speech.
However, there are some things, like protesting at a funeral, that are completely overstepping the line.
I, personnally, am disgusted by what they believe-but it's their choice. Freedom includes the freedom to believe, and choose a belief.

Aren't these people shut down yet? I would not hesitate to punch Phelps in his Nazi face.

Ugh to the WBC, but honey, you have to work on your journalism skills. Personal opinions should be kept out of articles like this, and you should watch your spelling and grammar. Remember, a strong vocabularly is always helpful, and sentence fragments should be avoided. :)

this is a bit obscene... not to make a pun from the authors name, but it is. why in the world would you picket a funeral? uh, people who do that are annoying to me. but hey... what is me saying this going to do about it?

nothing that's what.

Try to keep personal opinions out of news articles.
Despite the ludicrious story (why would you be so cruel to picket a funeral), you still cannot shove your opinions in there.

Critizing someone's beliefs is not the same as saying you think they're wrong. I don't condem them for standing up for their beliefs, I condem them for being discriminatory and selfish. That doesn't make me a hypocrite, seeing as how I wouldn't ever do those things.
